TE Rob Gronkowski (1 Viewer)

Here's my question. If he's 'not close' to being 100%, why is he playing?? Makes me think he's much closer than what's being quoted because I can't imagine the Pats being careless with Gronk based on his injury history. I'm anxious to see how he does with Brady back in the lineup.

Bad move to have him on the field and risk an aggravation if it is truly limiting him.   It's not like the Pats are going to miss the playoffs without him.   Make sure he is healthy for the playoff run...

one theory was that Gronk played (not at 100%) to serve primarily as a blocker given the rookie QBs, no true QB back up and the need for protection/time.  With Brady back, those concerns are much less and makes me wonder if Gronk will either run more routes or see less snaps.  IF he is truly hobbled somewhat, I would favor the latter especially since they are playing Cleveland and could mount an early lead.  Sure Gronk could contribute to that lead, but with Blount and Bennett and Edelman, who knows...TDs are unpredictable.

I think Gronk has limited flexibility and really has struggled running, which is another reason why he has been blocking more. That may limit what routes he could run. Seam routes, fades, and hitch routes are probably in his arsenal, but things involving deeper routes, cuts, and crossing patterns requiring a lot of running may not be.

Just wondering how fellow Gronk owners are handling this week.  Are you guys solidly confident starting him--or are you still in wait and see mode?   I own him in a PPR league where I'm very much considering starting Rudolph over him again this week (like I've been doing all season).

I'm confident that Gronk will get his body right and go on to have a long, healthy, productive career.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Rob Gronkowski (questionable, hamstring) will have more of a downfield role this week.
Gronkowski had a "strong week of practice" despite the Patriots listing him as limited. He hasn't looked fully healthy the last two games, but will do less blocking with Tom Brady returning. Gronk should have closer to a full-time role after playing a season-high 39 snaps against Buffalo. He's our No. 3 tight end for Week 5.

I have him in a couple of leagues, one of them he is on the bench for Rudolphe and the other 2 he's in with my fingers crossed!?

Have him in three leagues. In on a team that's 0-4 and also in on a team that's 4-0 but with a lot of bye concerns. In another as of now, I'm playing Wallace and Cobb over him at flex (have Reed).

He looked great on both catches, but the additions of Bennett and Hogan will mean less targets for him.  So many options, and Brady will always throw it to the open guy instead of force feeding any one player.

Well he's got 109 yards receiving and the games not even over yet.

Yep, which shows how great he is.  It's scary to think what he'd put up if he was on a team with less weapons or a team that was always losing to where he could rack up garbage catches and yards, ala Jarvis Landry.

Glad he showed up today and got some targets.  Disappointed in lack of red zone usage.  Hopefully things will only continue to get better going forward.

Is anybody else perplexed by the placement of Gronk in the Top 200 Forward rankings? Is there any reason to expect that he wouldn't be elite from this point forward?

#1 ranked TE with a 50% premium in value over the next TE Olsen (I'm excluding Reed).

Off injury and Bennett getting lots of looks.  I don't see anything wrong here.

I see what you're saying there. Within the TE rankings, he's certainly placed appropriately in my eyes. However, he used to be so much higher in the rankings in general. I guess I'm sitting here doing the comparison game with a bunch of the guys ranked higher than him. Gronk or Bilal Powell? Gronk. Gronk or Crabtree? Gronk. Gronk or D. Hopkins? Probably Gronk.

Is Gronk the sure-fire, leaps and bounds #1 TE these days? We used to think there was Gronk and then everyone else.

This season so far, Olsen is averaging about 1 point better than Gronk did the past 2 seasons in 0 PPR leagues 2-2.25 points better in 1 PPR leagues. And last year Reed and Gronk were about even in scoring.

Gronk being nicked up and the presence of Bennett seems to have hurt Gronk's fantasy scoring.

If Gronk continues to recover from that hammy, he will move up the rankings each week.  With Bennett around, he will likely not hit his peak from years past but he is a top TE as long as he is healthy.  I am quite content with that.  h

Just throwing this out there . . .

In 2011, we saw the superhuman Gronk, when he averaged 15.1 fantasy points per game.
In all other games in his career, Gronk has been excellent, just not superhuman, averaging 10.8 fantasy points per game.
If we limit it to games from 2012 on, Gronk has averaged 11.9 fantasy pts/gm.

Gronk would still be the top fantasy TE using "just" his 11.9 per game average, but his days producing as an elite WR may be few and far between.

Hey, he got me 40 points in my league yesterday, and is improving each week.  I like where he's at, hope he can keep it up with Brady being on his revenge tour.  He's still young and a tough SOB.

As long as the lung stays attached to the lung wall, a hole isn't necessarily a problem -- since there's nowhere for the air to escape to.

And without a collapse it will likely heal quickly.  But he might be lucky he didn't get hit there again last night.

(Just a guess.)

Gronk said to be seen today in the locker room and apparently showed no signs of injury. Par for the course with NE injuries.
