TE Rob Gronkowski (4 Viewers)

So how's that 4th round pick working for you guys banking on this dude to take you to the homeland ?

By the time this Gronk makes a serious impact .... half of his owners will already be out of the playoffs
5.02 pick here.

I'm 2-1.

I went ahead and started Cook on Thur for all of 4.50 points. Better than nothing.

I guess I didn't realize Gronk and NE aren't on the same side. I don't know how both sides aren't working together on this situation, seems really weird.

Guess I'll see him when I see him.
oh look, another blurb saying they aren't divided

We’re now hearing that the team and Gronkowski’s camp aren’t at odds regarding his status, contrary to a report that they are.
guess you'll have to change your opinion 'til teh next blurb comes out

While true more than usual will be out of the playoffs if Gronk doesnt come back by like week 7, since that pick hasnt done anything yet..................but for those owners who get in, they will have a nice advantage come playoff time.

For a redraft where the goal is CHAMPIONSHIP, grabbing Gronk in the 5th is a VERY good move.

3-0 in one league 6.04

2-1 in the other 5.03 (day it was announced he wasn't PUP)

Drafted sweet orange julius in the 16th in both :) so thanks, but I'm in great shape & my team will only be that much better when Gronk returns.

It's rather comical people are planning their lineups around Gronks 1st game back.

Lemme save you the trouble. Just pretend he isn't even on your roster until he actually plays in a game.

I will be utterly amazed if he puts up GRONK numbers in his first game back.
Julian Edelman is averaging 12 targets a game. He's on pace for 144/1100/11. Julian freaking Edelman, who has been in the league for four years and never topped 400 yards. I'm pretty sure 33% of Rob Gronkowski is an upgrade over Julian Edelman.

The all important question for me is...does Gronk immediately go back in on the extra point team? That's where this whole mess began, in a blowout no less.

If you can guarantee me that Gronk will start and play on every offensive snap as he usually does..........................I'll listen.

Otherwise, seems incredibly simple that he is on the bench until he plays one week. Possibly even more if he sees very limited reps.

I play the Gronk team in my big $ league this week so this is good news. He is 0-3 and hopefully soon 0-4. That being said, I still believe he could win many leagues down the stretch.

When Gronk plays, you know he'll be in at minimum for all the high-leverage situations. That alone makes him a must start for me as soon as he's on the field.

Meh. Not all reports are created equal. Jeff Howe is a beat writer for the Patriots and he says there is disagreement. Mike Florio, who is a professional #### stirrer says that isn't the case. Believe what you want to believe though.

I'm not going to bench Julius Thomas or Jordan Cameron for him, but if my fall-back plan wound up being Jared Cook, Owen Daniels, Brandon Myers, Kyle Rudolph, Coby Fleener, Gresham/Eifert, or someone of that caliber, I'd gladly roll with Rob Gronkowski, even if he's playing with a pitch count. If Gronk plays just 25 offensive snaps, I still think there's a great chance he parlays that into 8-10 targets. Against the Jets, Edelman was the target 45% of the time he ran a route. New England is desperately starving for viable targets to throw to. Even if Gronkowski sees limited action, I would expect to see him heavily used for however long he was on the field.

Yeah if your current TE is Mercedes Lewis or Zach Miller.

I think people need to start considering dropping Gronkowski. He was ready to play on Thursday and Friday, but his condition worsened since. I wonder if there is a new infection, or if doctors found he didn't heal correctly. Something could be serious here.

Ya, I don't think that's happening.

Yo ahead drop gronk. Haha. Most of us drafted gronk late. Its no loss. I didnt expect him to play till week 6. I dont care if he dosnt play till week 11. Thats when I need him the most

Ummm, no. Chances are he's back in the next couple of weeks. Why on earth would anyone drop a stud TE? For what?

No on what? His condition has been confirmed. He's getting worse, not better. Obviously I'm talking redraft only.

What language is this? Are you speaking English? I just don't comprehend what you're saying.

I'll drop him when NE puts him on IR, until then ill happily roster him on the bench... & since nobody but the Pats know what's happening, who are your sources saying he has worsened since Friday?

I burned a 2nd rounder on him. My 3rd rounder SJax isn't working out any better. Currently 14-7 and in the top 1/4 of the league. Backed him up with Gates and Jordan. As long as he's back by week 12 I'll be happy.

Drop him and let someone else scoop him up and win a championship?

Considering taking a 0 at TE this week with Finley on bye and only able to carry 2 TE on teh roster. I would easily pick someone up if I thought Gronk was coming back next week. Don't want to lose Finley on waivers if I pick someone up for this week. 3-0, rolling the dice. I couldnt imagine dropping Gronk at this point. He was a 6th rounder for me, but the type of gamble that when (if?) he comes back, can potentially pay huge dividends.

First off, that's fine by me... Do you think it would be smart to drop the number 1 or 2 player at their position if they'll be back in 2 weeks? I'd roster him if he was coming back in week 12.

Also, everyone is well aware that you're never going to get any real info from NE or BB - you need to use the info that is available... All we know is he has been practicing, looking good in practice, & the Pats didn't slap the PUP designated to return tag on him. That should mean he's close... Regardless, if he was dropped in an auction league, everyone would use 100% of budget on him & if it was a priority league, the number 1 priority would def grab him. It's crazy talk to say drop him.

Rolling with a zero then.

I think the Patriots felt it was worth a shot keeping Gronk off of the PUP list in case he could return sooner. But for whatever reason, they feel the best thing to do is wait. So what did it cost them, perhaps rostering another fringe player?

I know we get frustrated as fantasy owners wondering when he will come back but I would rather wait an extra couple of weeks then him get rushed back not before losing him for the season again.

I completely agree with you... I'm 3-0 & 2-1 so I'll wait & Gronk will only make me that much better. When he's back, I want him back for good.

Rob Gronkowski's dad keeps him off field, Pats believeBy Gregg Rosenthal

Around The League Editor

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not play Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons after a week of cautious optimism about his status. Gronkowski's family might have played a role in his absence.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network's "NFL GameDay Morning" that the Patriots believe Gronkowski has looked good in practice and wants to play in game action after recovering from offseason back and forearm surgeries. Rapoport went on to say the Patriots also believe Gronk's father has been vocal in keeping his son off the field because of the fact the tight end re-injured himself after coming back to play in the 2012 playoffs. Meanwhile, Gronk has told some teammates that he might not return until Week 6.

Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola also didn't make the trip to Atlanta for the game. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported earlier this week that Amendola's groin was torn off the bone. He's getting closer to game action.

We've heard whispers that the Patriots and Amendola had a difference of opinion about how to treat his injury. Amendola has per-game roster bonuses in his contract and wanted to avoid having surgery that would keep him out of the lineup longer.

The Patriots are 3-0, but their schedule gets much tougher in the coming weeks. They need their offensive weapons back on the field, but instead, they have drama surrounding those players' absence.

Gronk at 5.07 in a ten-teamer checking in. 1-3. I personally had Gronk pegged to miss 3 games. 4 was the absolute worst case scenario for me, IMO. 5 or more is nightmare territory. I wouldn't have touched him if I could redraft, and that's even if he returns next week. It's good that there are Gronk owners out there who are winning without him, but I can't imagine that being the case for the majority of Gronk owners. We'd basically be in the same situation if we got on the clock in the 4th-5th round and said "Hey guys, go ahead and skip me this pick. I don't mind!"

This story is evolving into something somewhat fascinating. If any of this is even slightly true, I've got to imagine it's creating animosity between Gronk and BB. Assuming this story is true, I am amazed that a player can hold themselves out of a game because they don't think they are 100% healthy even when, presumably, doctors have cleared then. How is that acceptable? I'm guessing, on some level, it isn't. Pats fans calling/emailing into local radio stations are all over Gronk based on this report.

If your girlfriend/wife couldn't have sex for two weeks, would you break up with her?

If it was because her dad said so, definitely.

I was in the same boat, I dropped Finley and would have lost otherwise so it was worth it for me. I can play WW roulette at TE if he doesn't return for 1 more week.

pats are going to be stupid good when gronk and amendola return.. add in some shane vereen and hernandezz * youve got a killer lineup

gronk is gonna need to score like 20+ points a game to make this wait worth while. if you took him in the 3rd round so much for him being back in week 3 or 4. smh

if your in the fgpc you'll get week 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 out of him if your lucky..

If people drafted a good TE late to cover for Gronk until he gets back they should in great shape come playoff time. I still think he's going to win a lot of people titles this year.

guys he isn't coming back in week 5 get over it he will probably be back in week 6 so let's just accept it and happily wait.. Hopefully his dad says its ok for Robby to come out and play. :IBTL:

I think people are underestimating the recovery time here. it's one thing for the arm to heal, from a thousand infections, but compunding this, he also had back surgery.

So, once those two are healed, it's not like he can just walk on the field. Dude hasn't touched weights all offseason, he has no strength. Im sure he is crash coursing in the weight room, but it's still gonna take time to get some strength/size back. You don't just magically put muscle back on, it's a deliberate process.

If I was his Dad, and he had 4 infections from their care, I'd be apprehensive too. I'd tell my son to be cautious as hell......and come back when he is ready. Not so he can help millions of fantasy geeks who drafted him at 6.10 in a fantasy league....

I said the same thing over and over in the off-season, the reply will be that hes a tremendous athlete even compared to his peers in the NFL and will rule the field as soon as he steps on it.
