TE Travis Kelce, KC (2 Viewers)

Chiefs look bad due to the Golfcap calling plays - matt nagy is brian schottenheimer bad at play calling. bad hire, bad coach, bad schemes, this won't change Chiefs are today the same as they'll be in dec and jan.
I think an obvious big factor is the defense is actually decent. Feels like they have had good game script in most games and want to run. All of this resulted in me trading Mahomes. Feels dirty. Kelce starting to get injuries more frequently. With his style of play and 34 age I wonder when he starts that slow down. Not this year, but soon.

When do we start talking about how Kelce has been a bust at ADP for fantasy?
He is still 7th in TE points despite missing week 1, so that is pretty good. Also, he is 3rd in points per week among TEs, so if he stays on the field all season, I'd be shocked if he still doesn't finish as the top TE (or top 3 at worst). I do wonder if he came back from the injury too soon, as he didn't look like his usual self in week 2, but he is facing some dreadful defenses here in the next month (Minnesota, Denver x2), so he should eat well in those games.
7th at the TE position for a top 7 overall pick is an absolute bust. Sorry.
The season is not 1/4 of the way over yet. Maybe wait and see how it plays out before we ask for the judge's final decision? ;)
of course, which is why I said "has".
2nd in points scored now this year by a TE.
1st in ppg and a solid 1st round pick (not the best but far from the worst)

You know that you are spoiled when your TE amasses over 100 yards and your slightly disappointed because no TD was achieved.
I feel this. He also had him open for an easy TD, Mahomes just recognized it late - weird because he was looking right at him. I say it every week, but every time I watch Mahomes and Kelce it just looks so easy. Mahomes will just go to him 5 plays in a row and it works every time. TD's are coming and their remaining schedule is as juicy as it gets.

I can’t understand why every team doesn’t go man coverage on him.

Playing zone he’s just wide open because the first coverage sluffs and he just sits and finds the nice soft spot.

Are you going to manage to have excellent coverage man to man against a guy of Kelces stature? Probably not.

But it’s gotta be better than just letting him roam free in zone.

Many times he catches the ball there isn’t someone within 5-10 yards of him. You can’t allow that to a team and one of the league’s best player.

The Chiefs absolutely need him. They looked lost in game 1 when he was out.
Game 1 was against the Lions.

Both words starting with the letters "De" is about all Detroit and Denver defenses have in common this year.
With all due respect the Chiefs haven’t looked dominant at all this year outside of the Bears game
I think it was clear that the Chiefs needed Kelce to win last night. It was a 1 possession game late in the 4th quarter until the Chiefs drove late to hit a field goal to close it out. The Chiefs got out to an early lead almost solely because of Kelce. This teams record is hugely due to Kelce and the defense. I think last night proved that the Chiefs without Kelce are beatable by even the bottom dwellers of the league. They better hope that he can stay healthy. I hope he does too—as he’s one of the pillars that I built my team around.

In my half point ppr league—his fantasy point average per game would put him at WR6. Effectively you are getting elite WR production with Kelce at your TE spot—which is the fantasy position that arguably has the most scarcity. Not only does the dude have an insanely high ceiling, but he probably has one of the highest floors out of anybody drafted in the first round. Call him a first round bust all you want—but don’t expect me to agree with that take.

Guessing his knee is all better now. So glad he put up a 35 burger on me. Wish I drafted in Auction or at least buy-low when he was sucking a bit.

Pretty bad back to back weeks - now a bye so 3 weeks of no production from most teams go to player. Bump in the road or time to be concerned?

Would be curious to know if Ramsey was on him.

KC also got up big quick so maybe they just played it more conservative.

Also, strange game in general. Wonder if team was jetlag.

Not concerned. Mahommes threw to everyone yesterday.

not sure on Ramsey but did see he was double teamed a lot - think same for last week which coincidentally was his 2 worst weeks - he was also used as a decoy quite a bit.

dunno the %s but I noticed Ramsey with him a few times on the broadcast. Seemed like there was always 2 guys there which you would think was a no brainer for any team.

I didn’t see a lot of Miami - KC, but watching highlights I noticed that the Chiefs were passing out of a 2-TE set at times. Kelce would draw two defenders shallow and Noah Gray would go deep-ish in the vacated area.

KC didn’t do it a ton — no one had more than two receptions IIRC — but it seemed effective at least those two times.

Sounds like something Andy would do.

He might have to keep doing it until teams are forced to counter. This might be the first time I'm a little concerned about Kelce, mostly because KC's receivers don't scare anybody.

If I was a defensive coordinator I would do what Miami did, double and triple team Kelce until any other pass catcher shows a pulse. Mahomes love of Kelce runs deep but he's not gonna throw into a sea of defenders and force the issue. So far, Mahomes has just been tucking and running instead.

Not sure if he got dinged up during the game, but his body language looked like a guy that is feeling beat up, or tired (or both).

He's no spring chicken and carrying a lot of weight being the 1st and 2nd read on every pass play.

Therapy probably cutting into practice time a good bit.

You may be joking... maybe not... but this could be playing a role. No doubt all his new "followers" are demanding to know every mundane detail of his life now... if he's feeling compelled to keep up on his "brand" it could be occupying quite a bit of his time.

a little bit of both, but far more joking than not joking.

It’s the honeymoon phase with maybe the most popular star on planet earth. I imagine any of us would be depleted too and not moving too well if we were doing the horizontal bop several times a day…

Yeah, he's 34 and you can see he is in a physical decline. Still an excellent player in a good situation but age is catching up to him. In the huge game he had against the Chargers, there was a play he was wide open and ended up as a 50 yard plus reception. But it was a play he would have easily housed, even last year. Looked so slow but nobody was near him so it ended up a big play regardless.

The outside of football stuff has to be distracting too. New relationships cause most guys to lose focus and when your new gal/pal is the ultimate "celebrity', must make it even harder to concentrate on football.

If the Chiefs win another SB will Kelce ride off into the sunset with his new love?

Sounds like you got an advance copy of the script! :P
No, she probably wouldn't anything to do with him if he was no longer a football star.
Agreed. She hasn't attended a game since her movie was released.
It's almost like she's busy or something

I was honestly shocked at how much free time she had for a month or so before she went to South America.

All joking aside, yeah, dating TS could easily be a legit factor. I kinda doubt he’s getting the proper amount of rest (or at least what he’s used to).

That said, age is likely the biggest culprit. Kelce doesn’t look as electric as he once did. Father Time is undefeated.

Had a bad vibe when he came up to the ESPN pre game cast on the field all joking around. That plus the whole TS women weaken the legs thing.

Hopefully this slaps some focus into him.

Hell, still produced 15 PPR points in a game where he was off and PHI did a damn good job on him.

He's been playing hurt all year. Could be age driven, but he's far from 100% all the time.
Yep. I got the sense that he came back a bit too early in week 2 and just hasn't looked 100% all season. Not that he has ever been a burner, but he could book it pretty good once he got the ball and got running in open space, and we just haven't seen that this year. He has still been really good overall and naturally he roasted the Chargers (he always seems to light them up like a Christmas tree).
If you actually believe this---that his relationship with her hurts the team, turn off your phone, go outside, and get some air.
Exactly.

The fumble was an excellent "Peanut Punch" that would have happened regardless of whether Kelce had spent the bye week hobnobbing with his billionaire girlfriend in South America.

The drop on the final drive, though...
