A lot of waiver wire TEs were very involved in their teams' offenses during week 1. Let's assess their outlook for the season:

Heath Miller - targeted 7 times, including a couple in the end zone. Could be a big bounce-back year.

M. Bennett - 6 targets, displayed great athleticism on his TD catch. Eli likes throwing to TEs and Bennett looks like a prime candidate to take a bunch of Manningham's targets, too.

Marcedes Lewis - Lewis caught 10 TDs in 2010 and was the #2 fantasy TE, but then disappeared last year as Gabbert played poorly. He caught all 5 of his targets, including a TD from the 1.

S. Chandler - he's a huge red zone target (6'7") and may take a large role in the BUF passing game now that Nelson looks to maybe be out for the year.

I like Miller and Bennett best given the strength of their offenses.

Chandler and Miller are the only FA in my league.

May look to grab one but I already have Pettigrew and Gonzo. Trade bait perhaps.

Not sure any of these guys will offer much in the way of consistent production, but I tend to look at them based on (1) how much their offense throws the ball and (2) who do they have to compete with for receptions.

Miller - was active in the passing game last night and has had some success in the past, but two good WRs already there; also despite talk of them being pass happy, generally a team that likes to pound the ball

Bennett - Eli has indeed made use of no name TEs in the past, albeit not on a consistent basis since Shockey left; also two outstanding WRs and a good pass catching back in Bradshaw to compete with

Lewis - was a top 5 TE a few years ago, but mainly due to the high TDs as opposed to receptions; offense likely to remain run-oriented and runs through MJD; I expect Gabbert will soon enough be force feeding Blackmon in the passing game

Chandler - the X/unknown factor. Big target and outside of Stevie Johnson, not a lot of receiving talent. Fitz may be chucking the ball a lot.

Given the choices above, I'd take a chance on Chandler.

as one of those who voted for Martellus Bennett I will just remind the OP that this very athletic TE was buried behind Witten for years so he was mainly asked to block and not catch too many passes...........but things are different in NY and I think Eli will find him a lot (even if as a last option it will be playable in deep TE leagues)
