Team Defense Scoring System (1 Viewer)

So, our league is looking to add a bit to our scoring system. We want to add some negative "punishing" points for defenses that give up too many yards rushing and passing or too many points. Also, let me know if you think our current system is fair. Here is our current system:

Fumble Rec - 2pts

Interception - 2

Blocked FG, PAT, Punt - 3

Sack - 1

Safety - 4

0 points allow - 10

1-6 pts allow - 6

7-10 pts allow - 3

0-99 yards passing allow - 6

100-199 yards pass allow - 3

0-99 yds rush allow - 6

100-199 yds rush allow - 3

D/ST TD (all kinds) - 6pts

We would like to add negative points for allowing too many yards/too many points. Any suggestions for what the scale should be? Thanks

Run it through MFL for last year. I often think these are reasonable then plug it in and realize the Ds are the top 32 scorers in the league.

What site do you use?
We use My Fantasy League...Bri, I see what you are saying...but does anyone have suggestions for a negative point scale? For instance over 30 points allowed = -5 pts...or something of that nature.

We use RTS and with points allowed and yards allowed with the way it lets us set it up when points are 28 they get 0 points. Anymore the system start to deduct 2 points for every 7 points scored. Same for yards. At 300 yards they start to lose 2 points for every 50 yards.

Not sure if MFL lets you set up that way.

6.0 points for each touchdown.

2.0 points for each safety.

Points Allowed

10.0 bonus points for shutout.

Starting with 8.0 points deduct 2.0 points for every 7 points allowed.

Total Yards Allowed

Starting with 12.0 points deduct 2.0 points for every 50 total yards

allowed.

Fumbles

1.0 point for each 1 fumble forced

Sacks

1.0 point for every 1.0 sack recorded

Fumbles Recovered

1.0 point for each 1 opponent's fumble recovered

Interceptions

1.0 point for each 1 interception.

I still stick with the "Defending Reality" argument about how to score defenses.

Two years running, it correlates well with real defenses and gives a good score in comparison to WRs.
I like it. Any chance those 2 new defensive stats (new to FF anyway) will be part of VBD and DD next year?
Do you mean the "forced punts" and "4th down turnovers"?
moved this out of Levin's train-wreck thread. To answer your question, yes, those are the 2 stats i meant, but i was trying not to give away subscriber info.

I see FBG in a position to push the hobby to new frontiers, like this defensive scoring and (even better) points-per-first-down. I find it hard to convince league-mates to switch to novel scoring methods, because they wouln't have resources (cheatsheets, mags, etc) to prepare for the draft with. They'll use the excuse that the website/software cannot use those stats, but it's really all about draft prep. FBG could push forward on these things.

Our defenses get points for TD returns (3 points), fumble recoveries (1), interceptions (1), sacks (1), safeties (2), and yardage allowed.

Negative 3 to positive 10 points can be earned from Passing yards allowed.

100 yards or less is 10 points. Every 25 yards after that is one point less. 401+ = negative 3 points.

Negative 3 to positive 10 points can be earned from Rushing yards allowed.

50 yards or less is 10 points. Every 15 yards after that is one point less. 231+ = negative 3 points.

Points allowed are not used.
