Team of the decade down to 9 teams (1 Viewer)

Patriots - If they clear this field of the Vikings, Eagles, and Jaguars and win Super Bowl 52, they are crowned team of the decade again.

Teams that need the patriots to not win Super Bowl 52, plus two Super Bowl wins of their own in 53 and 54:

Seahawks
Broncos
Ravens
Packers
Giants

Teams that need to win 3 consecutive super bowls to close out the decade and steal team of the decade at the very end:

Jaguars
Vikings
Eagles

@FieldYates: Jaguars by season:
2011: 5th worst record in the NFL
2012: 2nd worst record in the NFL
2013: 3rd worst record in the NFL
2014: 3rd worst record in the NFL
2015: 5th worst record in the NFL
2016: 4th worst record in the NFL
2017: Headed to the AFC Championship game

The Patriots could lose to the Jaguars and not make the playoffs in 18 or 19 and still be the team of the decade.

Conversely, the Jags could win the Super Bowl this year, and the next 2 years, and still not be the team of the decade. Up until this year, they were a front runner for worst team of the decade.

I disagree.  If you win 3 in a row in a decade and its more super bowl wins than anyone else in the decade, you are the team of the decade.  It doesnt matter what your record was in the other 7 years.

Hypothetically, if the Browns go undefeated and win each of the next 2 Super Bowls, are they the team of the decade?

They would only have 2 wins and 2 appearances.  The patriots would have at least 2 wins and 3 appearances.  So the patriots would be.

No.

NEW ENGLAND (2001-2017):
88-24 (never lost more than 4 games)
Made Conference Championship EVERY year
Made Superbowl Every Other Year (possibly 4 of 7)
Won 2 of 3 Superbowl appearances in 6 years (favored to make it 3 of 4)

JACKSONVILLE (2001-2017)
32-80 (never won more than 5 games before this year)
First winning record this year
First playoffs & Conference Championship appearance

Even if they flip flop performance for the balance of the decade, NE still is ahead of JAX

I'm guessing(hoping) I'm oversimplifying your thought process here, but it seems what you are saying is, if you don't make the Super Bowl, then the season was a complete failure? Like, Cleveland and New Orleans basically get the same amount of credit for this year?

I think the team of the decade just comes down to ring counting.  Whats never happened is two teams tying for most super bowl rings, so im sure itll spark a big debate if it ever happens.
