Tebow-mania (1 Viewer)

New Broncos VP of Football Operations John Elway said Monday that he will leave the question of whether Tim Tebow is the team's long-term answer at quarterback up to Denver's next head coach.

At the same time, however, Elway suggested that any coach hired by the Broncos that didn't believe Tebow was the solution might "not be the right one for the job." Elway conceded that Tebow "has a lot of work to do," but that the Broncos' priority will be to "make him a good quarterback." "He is a good football player," added Elway. During the Broncos' hiring process, Elway will most certainly make sure his new head coach is a Tebow believer.

In other words- Elway's gonna leave the decision to the coaching staff of whether or not to continue on with Tebow as the franchise. But you won't get hired as HC unless you're on the Te-bandwagon.

Whoever the next coach is he "has" to be willing to give Tebow a chance to succeed. That is all he is saying. Tebow is the only thing on the field that is energizing the fan base and he has shown enough flashes to earn a shot at the job. The only way the organization coulddump Tebow is if they were able to draft Luck some how.

That's not surprising. They just spent a 1st round pick on the guy.
Who did? Not Elway, or anyone that is currently making decisions at this point in time. What's interesting about this is that Tebow is Josh McDaniels' guy, and McD is now jobless because his "unorthodox personnel decisions" helped get him fired.
If the owner, GM, and scouts didn't like Tebow, they wouldn't have drafted him. This "McDaniels' guy" stuff is overblown. The team has shown life with Tebow at QB and he has met all reasonable expectations. It wouldn't make any sense to at least see what you have with the guy. It makes more sense than starting over at QB, when you have so many other holes to fill. Unless they - like ESPN wants everyone to - believe Luck is "once a decade" and can talk the panthers into a trade. You don't write off Tebow for Newton or Mallett.

Let the record show that I DO like Tebow, and I want the kid to succeed. He's gonna have to clean up his mechanics and not get himself killed running around like a RB though, but he's fun to watch, and his attitude reminds everyone of what makes the game great.

Denver area hospitals experienced a rash of elway-boners and tewboners following the press conference. One can only assume that following the documentary tomorrow that they will experience another rise

If it doesn't subside within 4 hours, THEN call a doctor. :)

I think that was much more Cutler/Marshall fall out plus a lot of other not-so-very-good draft picks.I don't think it was a Tebow thing - jury's still way out on him.
