Tebow to Jets (1 Viewer)

I don't know, count me as a Jets fan who likes the deal. Hopefully he'll light a fire under Sanchez. Brad Smith won some games out of the Wildcat a few years ago and that was really missed last year. Sporano has his piece now so let's see what happens. Are the Jets still a circus? Absolutely. I really don't see the difference between a big circus and a HUGE circus. Hard to really judge until the games are played, hoping for the best. Welcome to the fold Tebow.

What this does is ruin whatever chance Mark Sanchez had to be a decent NFL quarterback. He has ZERO room for error now, even a great QB (which Sanchez is not) would have trouble with his confidence in this scenario. A couple of losses, a couple of picks, and the fans will turn on him more brutally than ever. There will be a vocal Tebow fanbase from the very beginning that will only grow as Sanchez makes mistakes.

I think the NY media will love Tebow, but that's just an assumption that may well be proven wrong.

Good news for MJD owners.
Yep - McGahee's rushing numbers really stunk last season. Perhaps you missed the part that the Broncos lead the NFL in rushing yards per game in 2011. Don't let facts get in the way, though.
McGahee had 3 games over 100 yards out of the four games previous to Tebow. But hey, don't let facts get in the way.
But the will of Tebow on the sidelines is what sprung McGahee for those 100 yarders.

Terrible city for him, not a lot of receivers, already a QB who took them to 2 AFC Championships...I'm a Tebow fan, gonna be hard with him on the Jets. This is gonna be a mess. The media in NY is going to be very cynical and Tebow is the polar opposite of that...I don't think he is gonna like it much.
Agreed. This plus the circus that is the Jets under Rex will set him back years.

Great deal? The Broncos drafted him in the first round. Tebow almost single handedly turns around a horrible season and gives the team their first appearance (and playoff win) in many years. He's the most popular athlete on the planet. And all they get is a stinking 4th and 6th rounder?
I was thinking the Broncos were going to get a 6th, maybe a 5th at best. To get a 4th and 6th is a good deal IMO.

Good deal for Jets; bad deal for Tebow. I really dislike Elway even more than I did before. He knew all along he wanted Tebow out of town and should have just traded him early on during off season. By waiting, most of the teams with QB needs had addressed them in FA. He ends up sending Tebow to a team that already has a QB. Even Orton, who did far less for the franchise than Tebow, was treated better. He was released outright so that he could find the team he wanted. Elway is classless. I will never forget his face grimacing as Tebow led the team to victory.

Actually, running quarterbacks do help the running game. You can continue with your Tebow and I won't disagree with much...but yes, Tebow did help Denver's running game.

Exactly. Moreno goes down in week one. Then in weeks 2-5, with Tebow on the bench, McGahee puts up 101, 52, 105 and 125. But it was Tebow that is responsible for McGahee having a good year. Typical.

 He got Tebow to the biggest market in the whole country. They clearly have QB issues - there is little doubt that Tebow will be starting on day 1. Its actually a pretty decent place for Tebow to go - play a little wildcat offense, and have a big defense to keep them in games until Tebow delivers in the 4th. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

This seems like the worst location possible for Tebow. Granted, he doesn't much standing between him and a starting job, but I have a hard time seeing him fitting in with this team and city.

OK

Bill Polian said that Sanchez will get 65% of reps and Tebow 35%. Don't know how he would possibly know that.

 I thought he got traded to the Jets?

I am sure Tebow and Rex will get along great.

After all, Jesus and Rex both like washing people's feet right?

Awesome. This situation is so great for anyone except Jets and Tebow fans.

:goodposting: I think it's a great situation for Tebow with their defense/running game, and I would bet that most Jets fans (after they get over the knee-jerk wailing and teeth-gnashing) will be pleasantly surprised with what the kid can do. I honestly think he could beat Sanchez out right now for the starting job, but even if they just use him as a redzone option and situational player, he's going to be a hell of a weapon for that team.

I agree. I'm starting to like the situation.I personally think Tebow's delivery has been jacked with ever since he's been in Denver. This is a guy that had no problem delivering accurate balls in college. He was a great collegiate passer. In the pros, there are times he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Hopefully the Jets recognize that and let him play his game. Should be fun to watch if anything.

God help us all. Tim Tebow as backup QB in the media capital of the world behind one of the most embattled QBs in the league.

If the Jets start out slow, the cries for Tebow will be deafening. Making this move not only nullifies any confidence the extension to Sanchez demonstrated, but it cut the legs right out from under Sanchez.

As a Bills fan, I couldn't be a whole lot happier :D

good post. You can't make this stuff up.

Wasn't Tebow drafted in the first round? And so there was a ton of uncertainty about him back then, but since then he's started, carried his tea through am improbable winning streak, won the division, and beat the Steelers in the playoffs, throwing for over 300 yards against the best defense in football. Shouldn't he be worth MORE now, not less?

Not a Jets fan or necessarily a Tebow fan, but this match is interesting to me and I'd actually be much more interested to watch a Tebow-led Jets team than a Sanchez-led team.

i honestly think this is the best possible scenario for tebow. with sanchez inevitably regressing from lackluster to horrible, tebow can take over and save another team from a terrible qb who can't lead. with rex's ground and pound approach, tebow should be able to thrive in the offense. it should also make a difference having brass/coaching staff that actually believes in him and that can work with him in the off-season to improve on what he did last season.

i still believe.

Sad thing is he's getting traded for issues caused by fans, not anything that Tebow has done. His fanbase is actually hurting him.

How exactly is he being hurt here? He has gone from a clear back-up, to a likely starter in the media capital of the world. He'll make more money in NY, and have a wider audience to deliver what ever message he wants.
