Tebow working on new throwing style (1 Viewer)

I find all the discussion about whether Meyer should have done more to help Tebow's NFL prospects funny. He did the same things he did when he made Alex Smith the first pick in the draft.

I hope he comes out and dominates with this "new style" just to shut everyone up about how a QB from a certain system can't succeed. He has the most intangibles for any QB in the draft.
Has nothing to do with the system. Sam Bradford plays in a wide open shotgun based offense, and he is the consensus # 1 QB. Tebow is being knocked for many reasons, not on being a system quarterback.

And what is the Tim Tebow Foundation set up to do? Not provide any benefit to Tim Tebow (except, if you are a skeptic, good PR). I don't share TT's beliefs, nor do I like his NFL prospects (except that he's about to get more cash than most of us will ever see and may never have to even take a legitimate NFL hit) but ragging on him for doing charity work seems pretty weak.

Nice of you to neglect to mention that it's a fund raising event for charity.Yeesh, people are just looking for a reason to hate this guy, aren't they?
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Tim Tebow foundation. Now define portion. I wonder what Jesus would do.
The young man spends countless hours doing charity. I think judging his motives here is a stretch. Unless you can find a track record of him taking advantage of charities, then I don't know why you'd be skeptical about this. FreeBagel is right here, people are going out of their way to hate this guy. Just because he most likely won't turn out to be a good QB in the NFL, it doesn't mean people should #### on him as a person. Just say he's gonna suck as a NFL QB and leave it at that.

With all the punks, thugs, & low-lifes in the NFL, why rag on a guy like Tebow? It doesn't make sense to me.

Not saying he's a great guy or anything, because I don't know him personally, but I don't see how anything Tim Tebow is doing could even be remotely considered questionable behavior.

Not only that, but he was just on NFLN last night in a pre-combine interview with Mayock, Mariucci, et al. and specifically said he just wasn't going to throw.

Tebow interview
Seems pretty genuine and well spoken, confident but not cocky(at least from this interview). He could have refused to speak to the media but going through this interview which was pleasant but with a little bit of antagonism perculating-not a lot but a bit- says a lot of his character I think. Not sure if he's going to be an effective QB in the pro's but it's hard not to root for him after watching that, IMO.

I don't post on these boards often though I do really enjoy reading the posts.I just have to say that its very obvious that the majority of folks here have no clue as to the type of person he is.The NFL could use a lot more kids like him not to mention the real world as well.

Really, the majority? There's a lot more positive messages in this thread about Tim the person than there are negative.

Adam Schefter was on Moving the Chains (NFL Sirius) with Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan yesterday. They brought up Tebow and how many coaches are saying that he is the most intelligent player they have met yadda yadda yadda. So they start to talk about Tebow going to Jax and they just don't think Jax can pull the trigger on him going in the first and that he is more likely to go in the 2nd but the Jax do not have a second round pick. Ryan says to Kirwan and Schefter that the perfect team would be the Hawks with 3 picks in the top 40. Schefter (knowing Kirwans close relationship with Pete Carrol and possible future employer) ask's Pat what he thinks and all he got was silence.

So Tebow ran a 6.66 in the cone drill, which is apparently faster than the average time for a WR/CB....and better than ALL RBs and ALL WRs but two. :fro:

Also tied the QB Combine record for Vertical Jump at 38.5.

Also put up 30 reps on the bench...more than some OL.

So, are they going to make a RB out of him? :lmao:

I think the point is that he has so many tools, including athleticism, leadership, he's educable, etc. What he needs most, though, is a quicker release and better arm. I don't know if he can be taught these things, but he does seem like someone who will work his ### off to make it happen. That's a hell of a lot more than most guys in the pros.

With regards to these two areas of his game think Andre Woodson.

There is all this talk about Tebow's release but what about his footwork, is he working on that? It all starts with the footwork and from what I've seen and heard his needs a lot of work.

:goodposting:Basically, he needs work on everything to do with passing... taking snaps from center, footwork, throwing mechanics, and reading defenses. Sounds like his athleticism is great, but he won't make it as a QB based on athleticism.

No, but I think it does a good job of showing up the people that said his running wouldn't translate at all to the NFL because he's just a slow plodder, mainly because he's a large white guy without great top end speed. There was a discussion a few weeks back where some folks mentioned that his acceleration and agility was worse than most fullbacks. Obviously those folks were blind or just talking about the guy as if they were experts about him without ever really watching him, which sadly has become the norm around here lately.

Florida tried to adjust Tebow’s delivery in 2008

INDIANAPOLIS — Much has been made about Tim Tebow’s throwing motion, which the QB is overhauling in an attempt to better prepare for the NFL.

So, who’s to blame for Tebow needing such a last-minute change: Florida coach Urban Meyer or the quarterback himself?

When Marshall Faulk suggested Sunday during NFL Network’s combine coverage that Meyer chose winning over adjusting Tebow’s delivery, fellow analyst Charles Davis refuted that and said he knows “for a fact” the coach tried to make changes.

“They tried to work on that two years ago when Dan Mullen was the quarterbacks coach,” Davis said. “They had Tim in there … and tried to work it, work it, and then everything reverted back when you got to game speed.

“Florida’s trying to win football games,” Davis added. “Do we mess him up now or do we continue to go on? That becomes the question. You continue to go on because for Urban Meyer and his staff, the bottom line is winning the football game.”

Mike Mayock backed Davis’ point and said he believes Tebow needs two years of development and 10,000 passes to become a successful NFL quarterback. Mayock cited Tebow’s intangibles, which he has “in spades,” as the reason the QB could do well in the league.

I didn't see the bench reps referenced anywhere else. He also unofficially ran 4.7 and 4.72 in the 40, which is good for a QB.
