TEN to run the ball 40 times a game (1 Viewer)

don't known the name of the show but it was finishing up, and the guy said that he knew Clayton well, who told him that he had just talked to Fisher and that is what Fisher said. The Titans are, according to the guy on the radio, going to attempt a ball-control offense that wears opponents down. Nothing really new to what has been said except for a specific number: 40.

If true, how would those carries break down?

CBrown: 20

Henry:8

Lendale: 12

??

switch Henry and Lendale? a few for the fullback? I can't imagine Volek running that much. If Young sees action he'd take a few more obviously.

Every NFL coach says he's going to run the ball 40 times at the start of each season. When Tenn is down by 20 pts in the 3rd quarter, I think they will pass more the run :banned:

Hard to run the ball 40 times unless you're making first downs.

Hard to make first downs rushing if the other team has 8 in the box.

Coachspeak for "we'd like to run the ball more." Just like those who start the year by saying we want to have a 55-45 run to pass ratio", and end up the year at 40-60.

Unless they're running the wishbone or their D suddenly turns into the 85 Bears that's just not too realistic. Also, if that's their plan than inking David Givens to big money doesn't make much sense.

Ain't gonna happen. But it sounds good. The only way they come close is if their defense only gives up 6-7 points a game. They could allow that in almost every quarter.

I see the options as:

15-10-5

16-9-5

20-7-3

Maybe once in a while they'll go above that, but 40 rushes a game is unrealistic in my book.

Hmmmmmm.....

640 rushing attempts this year for the Titans?

This just in....

ESPME reports I'm going to make sweet sweet love to Salma Hayek 40 times a day this season.

I figure that's only slightly less possible than Clayton's sound bite - and a lot more fun for me.

I heard OAK plans to throw to Randy Moss 60% of plays. It's called the Randy Ratio. I think this vaults Moss to the #1 WR.... :loco:

What Fisher & Tenn want to do, is very different from what Fisher & Tenn will be able to do.

As both Boston & Yudkin pointed out, Fisher is planning on writing checks, that the Tenn D can't cash.

Ozymandias pointed out the other reason it won't happen.

Hard to run the ball 40 times unless you're making first downs.

Hard to make first downs rushing if the other team has 8 in the box.

Maybe they'll rush it 100 more times than any team has in the last five years, but I bet they don't.

In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say Tennessee won't rush it 30 times/game. I'm psychic.

In 2004 the Steelers ran the ball 618 times for 39 times per game.

:lmao: how many teams were able to run 30 times a game last year? OR in the last 5 years? There is a common thread and if you can figure it out you will know why the Titans WILL NOT be able to run 40 times a game. Shoot, I'm not sure they will get 40 PLAYS on offense a game.Just my 2 cents

Unless you think that Fisher plans to give Volek 100 carries...

Finally something I can agree with. Salma Hayek is a goddess - she's like top five.

Jessica Alba

Selma

Kajol (I know - who?)

HalleBerry

Mrs. Kobe Bryant

i'd think more of a 15, 15 and 10 split. i think lendale is starting by game 7 this year. IMHO
Tenn has been reportedly looking like a completely different offense so far in preseason, i.e., less emphasis on the pass, more on the run..I don't consider Henry in the mix, its probably a situation where Brown starts, White spells him. Once Brown gets turf toe or a broken fingernail, White will take over as the #1 RB in Tennessee, IMO..

Crap! Now I've lost my FF concentration. I have to leave and refocus.

History shows that teams that blow on defense will not run the ball 40 times.

Fisher would LIKE to run 40 times, just so his team might be able to stay in games.

This isnt new news. Fisher has been saying they'd "like" to be a team that runs the ball 35-40 times a game all spring.

What Fisher "likes" to do, and what Fisher will HAVE to do are two completely different things.

Id be surprised if the Titans were above the league average in rushing attempts by RUNNING BACKS. Young will skew the total number.
