Tennis - Sinner accepts three month ban - won't miss Roland Garros (1 Viewer)

Bethanie Mattek-Sands appears to have snapped her right patellar tendon. Kneecap was 6" north of where it should be.  :X

Saw that.  :X   She was screaming in pain and everyone was just standing there like she tweaked her ankle.

maybe muller can make this one of those 70-68 kind of matches so that Nadal not only loses but has to call of the rest of the season.. maybe even career ending

in other good news for the Fedlegacy,  Cilic looks great and finished up his match in tidy fashion so he should be well prepared for the winner of this pretty long match

Even if Ralph does win this.. he's definitely compromised now for the next round..  so I applaud you Muller

Wow that sure looked easy.

I've never heard of a 12 game set before but I don't watch a ton of tennis. Has to be pretty unusual, no?
definitely.

The record is 70-68 at Wimbledon about 7 years ago.

Federer v. Roddick in 09 went to 16-14

Federer vs. Del Potro in the London Olympics went to 19-17.

Other than the Federer Roddick match which was a final...  the winner goes on to lose the next match due to exhaustion anyway.

Del Potro cost Federer a gold medal by hanging around so long in that SF match....   the jerk also had the audacity to beat Roger at the 09 USO... I don't care for him

Thank you Giles Muller..  this tournament is now a success and I can watch with ease the rest of the way.   Would be nice if Djoker got beat, but really I"m ok with him winning also

One of my favorite parts of this thread is when Rafa gets bounced from a major and @Dentist can breathe and actually enjoy the rest of the tourney.

The mental picture in my mind of the big grin behind his mask while he's drilling into some dude's skull always makes me smile.

Sam Querrey just played the two best sets of his freaking life, on Centre Court against Murray, down two sets to one.  :jawdrop:

Fed vs. the Byrd man

Querry?  vs. Cilic.

This looks like Fed vs. Cilic and Cilic is honestly one of the few guys I thought could beat Federer in this tournament..  when he's hot he can roll like he did in that US Open that he stole away from Roger back in 2014.

Byrdych has beaten Federer at Wimbledon before but that was back in 2010... and Federer has won the last 7 matches they have played.

I see Fed vs. Cilic in the finals... and Roger will need to be on

Which is funny to me, because I thought that Dentist also hates upsets.

my hate for nadal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> hate for upsets

#fedlegacy is all that matters

Sets up nicely for Federer - I'd be surprised at this point if he doesn't win another one.  Crazy.
I agree, and that scares the #### out of me because i shouldn't be that confident.    I feel like I felt in the 2014 USO when Djoker got knocked out by NIshikori.. I thought Roger was going to get that one finally....  and then Cilic obliterated him and at the time when Djoker was just killing every tournament, it felt like #18 wasn't going to ever happen..  then things got even more bleak when Djoker beat him in both of those '15 finals... and then '16 was injury filled.. and I really thought it was over.. but was ok with it because it felt like Nadal was done also.

Federer NEEDED this resurgence..   without it Nadal is on 16 majors to Roger's 17 and there's no reason to believe he wouldn't win the French next year...

While he doesn't need this Wimbledon as badly as he needed to win that AO final....  after watching Ralph get #15 so easily...  I'd be thinking I need to get 20 before quitting.

Nobody mentioned that ##### screaming during match point in Halep's QF? That sucks. Rather see her move on. Ban the screamer from the tournament.

How did a Dentist in KC fall in love with a Swiss tennis player?  I imagine that you dream of the two of you retiring together.

sounds lovely, we could fish, talk about hating nadal, smoke a cigar, and snuggle

When Cilic is serving those bombs with pin-point accuracy... scary.
Cilic scares me..  he can get rolling... I always thought he was going to be a multi-major winner..  but then he really got derailed..  then there was the suspension...   then he won that USO and I thought he'd break out, and he never backed it up

Well done Federer..   11th Wimbledon Final!

He's lost the last 2, and while the casual fan will think that Federer should steamroll...   Cilic kind of reminds me of DelPotro '09..  he's playing hot, confident, likes grass, and will be pissed about getting bounced last year after being up 2 sets to nill.

Roger is playing so good.. and should be fresh as a daisy with so little time spent on court having not dropped a set.. and he looks fantastic...    So while he should win in 3-4 tidy sets..  something tells me this could be a surprisingly difficult match that could go 5 and be "scary" to watch.

Holy #### you must be confident.  I was expecting you to build up Cilic's current play as the second coming of Sampras or thereabouts.  Maybe give Fed a 1 in 4 shot to win.  To even suggest that Fed should win in 3 or 4 tops leads me to believe that you are way way way to overconfident.

C'mon, we like our Dentist cheap, obsessed with retirement, hating on Nadal, and constantly assuming the worse about Fed.
