Tennis - Sinner accepts three month ban - won't miss Roland Garros (4 Viewers)

Weird day, weird tournament... this isn't like men's tennis... Nadal blasted off the court, Murray blasted off the court, Djoker is going to have to go 5 sets if he's going to win, and Federer dumped to the first set convincingly to Wawwrinka...

Quite the effort from Wawrinka whose is clearly not well. Too bad, started out so well too, could have been a great 5 setter.
Wawrinka is becoming one of my favorite players. (his backhand is sick) I think he could have given Djokovic a better match.
I also am a big fan of Stan... I would've rooted for him against any other player in the tournament.

Also a fan of Grigor though as well.. he dismantled Murray.

I'll eternally thank Stan for saving tennis this Janurary by taking out Ralph in those Finals... awesome Fedlegacy protection.

Federer and Djoker should be co-favorites for the win now... I don't think Nole will steamroll Olderer like you think

Last 3 best of 5 they have played have been fantastic, would have great to see if they would have needed all 5 sets again.

You guys watching Milos? He's held 9 straight service games at love. If it goes 5 sets, it may never end.

Raonic will beat Federer if he serves like that. I think the moment will be too much for him though and Fed pulls it out in 4.

Bouchard is winning the title :fingerscrossed:

Crazy that Canadian tennis is so exciting right now. The last time was, well, never...

2 pretty damn compelling semis on the Men's side.

You've got 2 young upstarts with Grigor and Milos vs. the #1 seed in the tournament who definitely hasn't been playing his best tennis in 2014... but it certainly hasn't sucked... and a 7 time champion trying to get one more cup.

Milos is going to be hell for Roger on Friday... that serve on Grass... wow.. but Roger has seen big servers on grass before (Roddick) and gobbled them up.

Roger has played Milos 4 times and while he is 4-0, Milos has taken a set off of him every single time and several sets have done to tiebreak.. they have played on grass once.

We will see!

Grigor has been pretty hot on the grass also... I'm guessing we don't get a Federer vs. Djoker final.. One or both could fail without much surprise.

Anyone else ultra geeked up for Olderer going for #18/8 tomorrow?

It's going to be a very tough match, but I'll give a slight edge to Federer based on the fact that I believe he's a bit more fresh and is a better grass court player.... although Nole is no slouch and is younger, hungrier.

Federer has only had his serve broken once the entire tourney and only dropped one set... I hope it's rainy tomorrow and they have to close the roof also.

Grigor's game is somewhat similar to Federer's and he could easily have taken nole into a 5th set.. and nole has dropped several sets in this tournament... stands to reason a better Grigor could definitely take the match!

If his serve is GOATing, Roger in 4 (loses a tiebreak set)... if the first serve % starts to wane at all, then Nole's ground game is definitely superior when the grass has been trashed into dirt like it is now.

Well, at least the last couple majors the young bloods have gotten some final experience that should serve them well down the road.

Great run at the majors so far but would like to see her produce some results at the next tier of tournaments where she is 2-5 this year.

Really surprised to see the oddsmakers have it roughly 63/37 for Djokovic. Would have thought Djok was an enormous favorite.

why would you say that?

Federer has won 2 out of the last 3 times they have played, and won rather convincingly the last time they played on grass just 2 years ago.

their overall H2H is 18-16 Federer

Are you saying that because of Federer's age? Fact that he's a dad to 2 sets of twins?

Nole hasn't won a title since 2013 AO and has gotten in the bad habit of routinely tanking major finals... he did make the final here last year but was eviscerated by Murray...

Nole.. 1 Wimbledon Federer 7

I think Nole is the favorite based on age and that he's an elite player.. but i think at best it's 55/45 Nole

Don't know much about the average tennis betting %, is this closer to what they had Nadal-Djokovic at the French or Nadal-Ferrer at the 2013 French Final?
I wonder what Wawrinka Nadal was for the Aussie open considering Stan had never even taken a set off Ralph.. I would imagine that final and Nadal - Ferrer were the types of odds you'd expect to see for "mortal lock"

This should have nowhere near those type of odds.. I would imagine this has to be more like Nadal Djoker at teh French... because many thought Nole could win that match and would win... this seems similar... it will not surprise me if either guy wins

Wouldn't think Djokovic should be an enormous favorite but certainly should and probably needs to win. Lost 5 of last 6 major finals and since this one isn't Nadal or Murray he really shouldn't let this one slip. Think he'd have to have a poor day returning not to take this.

Really hoping Federer can pull this one out today but thinking the pressure of potentially winning another major will cause his game to drop a little.

Winning the first set seems key for both players today. Roger needs to keep serving well and can't give up coming to the net even if Novak has some early success with passing shots.

Still anyone's match but djoker has been very solid on serve.Roger Federer hasn't served as well today as he did earlier in the week. We will see!

Enjoying this match so much. It reminds me of being a kid when the men's championship was on all day on Sunday of July 4th weekend with Borg and McEnroe putting on an unbelievable show.

Hope Federer can rally back to force a 5th set.

Holy crop what an insane 20 minutes. I love it. Win or lose this has been fabulous
:goodposting:

Nothing against Novak, but I am rooting for Roger here. Love seeing the underdog trade haymakers with an in his prime Novak, so much fun to watch.

Great match. Bum result. As close a match as you can find. Roger just couldn't keep digging himself out of holes

Big miss on that overhead by Federer when Djokovic was on serve at 4-4.

With the way Federer's serve was looking to start the 5th (I think they said he had won 19 of his last 21 points), it was starting to look scary for Djokovic but that turned around quickly.

Wimbledon; only had to go through one of Djokovic, Murray, Nadal; no obvious new entrants into top tier this year; played really well in the final...hard to imagine more going right for Federer at a major than this tournament.

But he still didn't win. Don't think he'll win another one now.
