Tennis - Sinner accepts three month ban - won't miss Roland Garros (1 Viewer)

Impressive run.  Roger owns Stan, but Stan has won a major 3 straight years. And I still can't believe I typed that.  This will really be his toughest match.  Making a sf first tourney back is insane.

Raonic needs to get to work tonight

As much as I want raonic to beat Nadal, it ain't happening in a five set match on nadal's current form.  Raonic chokes against the big players and in big tourneys.  He also isn't on good form right now.  Nadal in 3 relatively easy sets (maybe one breaker)

Grigor can beat Nadal though...

On a court that seems to be playing pretty fast, I think it's crazy to think a big server like Raonic couldn't take out Nadal....  now, can Nadal handle him?  Sure, he's dominated the head to head...  but I suspect Raonic wins in 4 with some tight tie-breakers.  Ralph is the slight favorite though, so what do i know.

I have been impressed with Konta. She's on the rise and playing well. Serena has been at 50% or less on her first serve the last two matches, and per usual making a ton of errors. I wouldn't be surprised if the Brit takes her out tonight.

Serena broke her back at love

On the game winner Conta hit at least 3 shots that were winners against just about any other woman who's ever played

Ridiculously good

Next time I'm going with reverse jinx

For the most part, it wasn't Serena raising her level but Conta just got tight

Wrong I guess.  Oh boy I thought nadal was done. What is going on, this is devastating.

I watched the first set & went back to sleep. Raonic struggled out of the gate with a long first game and faced a break in the third, then was broken in the seventh game. Nadal had one unforced error and faced no break points in winning 6-4. From the Nobody Cares Dept: the hair transplants look awful, he should just go full Agassi and embrace it.

The 8 semi-finalists are a collective 253 years old. Coco and Dimitrov are 25, the other six are in their 30s, including two 36 year olds and two 35 year olds. Must be some kind of record.

Thanks for the updates, i only saw the highlights and couldn't tell if it was more Milos playing badly or if Nadal has found a 3rd wind.   I figured Nadal was lucky to have beaten that one dude in 5 sets and would go out soon afterwards, but not it appears he's probably the favorite to the win tournament.

I think I'd rather see Federer lose to Wawrinka than potentially lose a final to Nadal...    Com'on Dimitriov....

See I think Stan could beat Nadal, but I don't think Fed can...  but Fed owns stan and I think either one of them beat Grigor

Milos looked very shaky and played like ish the first two sets (I fell asleep watching the 3rd set).  A very disappointing QF performance from him.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Roger has never had any controversy- guy is so likable and gracious.  Maybe I'm overlooking something but he's just a fantastic representative for the sport.

correct, he has been an amazing ambassador for the game.  he should also get credit for staying with his chunky wife.

Great match, I fear he won't have anything left Sunday though. Needed to finish in 3.

Heavily rooting for grigor

I can't really hold the following against him as he was young and it's admirable how he handled the problem, which I think a lot of young tennis players can learn from.

But like I said, I can't really hold it against him. Not trying to defame him or anything, far from it. I think he's an incredible ambassador for the sport and has been for years. I just hope my post isn't taken the wrong way. So just want to be clear, I'm not holding it against him and considering his age at the time, if that's the biggest thing someone could find, it's not much of a controversy, if at all, IMO.

Love watching him play and have for years. Don't know how to describe it, but he just plays the game so elegantly. Just moves so naturally. Everything is smooth. I'd have to think about it more, but that's one of the things that really has hit me when seeing him play over the years.

Go Fed!

If I'm Federer and I win this major I'd seriously consider retiring on the spot or at least sounding announcing it's my final season, but I think even if he win he'd think he could win Wimbledon, or defend the ao next year.   I don't think he has a Pete Sampras ending in him

I hope Roger wins this thing.  If Nedal gets by an on form Dimitrov, I am very worried.  Fed has a mental thing with Rafa.

Eh I think he's almost in just happy to be there mode like a first timer.  That's my concern
well, McEnroe made a great analogy in today's match talking about a basketball team being down 20 in the NBA and getting to even since they were placing loose but getting tense once it looks like they could win.  This was the beginning of the 5th set and he was talking about Stan.  Different but somewhat similar in that it could apply to Roger who came into this tournament with no expectation to win it but now that he is in the finals and it is so close I could see that getting to him mentally on the big points in the finals.

Both guys look ready for this match.

Rafa is aggressive and hitting the corners and feeling it...should be interesting...if he keeps it up though, it could be lights out quickly for Dimitrov.
