Ok.I know this is a stupid gripe, but Sinner fist pumping after literally every point won drives me crazy.

Tennis will never have that golden age again. Wished I would've paid more attention to it all. 3 very different, incredible athletes, all going at it hard in their prime. It's crazy when you think about it, especially in an individual sport.Feels like we just left a generation where 3 guys could win a title at any given time to one where 2 guys can. Would be nice if 4-5 players could step up and add some parity to the sport but I don’t see it happening any time soon.
Yeah, my wife is an Alcaraz fan and can’t understand why I rooted for Sinner. Of the two, Alcaraz is more likable and exciting, but I really just want somebody else to have a decent chance at winning. It would be even better for a couple others to join the mix, though seems like a two-man show for the foreseeable future.Feels like we just left a generation where 3 guys could win a title at any given time to one where 2 guys can. I used to have high hopes for Medvedev and still enjoy watching him play but it seems like he’s really taken the piss now. He’s actually my favorite player. Awkward, but cerebral, and funny. Definitely appears to be in decline.I used to have high hopes for Medvedev and still enjoy watching him play but it seems like he’s really taken the piss now. Sounds cool, didn't know Jared Goff was a tennis playerHoly crap...so Floppinha is doing a couple days of camp at John Macenroe's Tennis academy here in NYC. Sounds like a bunch of pros are there training for the Open. Raducanu, Goff, some men she doesnt know (but probably big).
Wish i was there!!
She got a pic with Raducanu (shes purty) and watched her practice serving and returning serve. Coco/Jared was in the gym the whole time. Monfils and felix aurer-etc were working with their coaches too.Sounds cool, didn't know Jared Goff was a tennis playerHoly crap...so Floppinha is doing a couple days of camp at John Macenroe's Tennis academy here in NYC. Macenroe practicing his serve now.Alcaraz is there today!!
wish i couldve gone there with floppinha to watch all this. Mac is there a bit, since its his spot- but the times ive been there ive never seen him actually hitI can understand it’s annoying, at the minimum, to the mixed specialists, but probably better for the fans, who ultimately are paying the bills.Any thoughts on the revamped mixed doubles this year?
basically invite only for the big singles stars- 16 pairs- this week, to allow them to play, short format (4 game sets, no ad... similar format to a lot of lower level youth tournaments floppinha plays in) over 2 or 3 days with a big cash prize.
I think only last years winners were brought in, of all the mixed doubles specialists, which brought the complaint that the part timer rich singles players were being given the opportunity to win the big cash prize instead of those specialists. turns out, last years winners won today- beating Iga and Ruud.
Anybody. Can anybody buy tickets to the US Open? Or is it like Wimbledon where Jesus himself couldn’t get in?
Thanks. I gotta get up there to see it one of these days.Anybody.Can anybody buy tickets to the US Open? Or is it like Wimbledon where Jesus himself couldn’t get in?
Grounds pass for everywhere but 2 main stages. Those require specific tickets that of course include grounds pass
Just tuning in at the end of the 3rd...not a thing of beauty here.Gauff in 1st round dogfight. I’m entertained.
I’ve been to both, and it was easier (and cheaper) to get good Wimbledon tix, imo.Can anybody buy tickets to the US Open? Or is it like Wimbledon where Jesus himself couldn’t get in?
Grounds pass is the way to go, late first week 2nd/3rd round. Ashe is too huge, unless you pay a lot for close seats.Anybody.Can anybody buy tickets to the US Open? Or is it like Wimbledon where Jesus himself couldn’t get in?

Really? I’ve always read it’s basically impossible. How do you do it?I’ve been to both, and it was easier (and cheaper) to get good Wimbledon tix, imo.Can anybody buy tickets to the US Open? Or is it like Wimbledon where Jesus himself couldn’t get in?

Camp on the soccer field adjacent to the grounds. Wait in queue the next day. Buy tickets for face value. Excellent seats, with a decent chance at center court.Looking forward to hearing this.Really? My wife and daughter were in London this summer and we looked into it. what i thought was you could only get tix by getting there early in the am and waiting on queue. So- easy and cheap if you have the time and patience to do that. Didnt hear anything about an after market since tickets were primarily bought day of.
Federer is my wife’s favorite player, and seeing him play on Centre Court (even losing) was a once in a lifetime opportunity.Vacation + Camping out to buy something + anything = no. But if Wimbledon was the feature of the vacation, maybe. MAYBE.
tbh- if my daughter hadn't been in an art program that lasted all day their entire stay, I'd have made sure they tried to get there one day and just park it in line and hope for the best... why not?Federer is my wife’s favorite player, and seeing him play on Centre Court (even losing) was a once in a lifetime opportunity.Vacation + Camping out to buy something + anything = no. People burn vacation days “relaxing” all the time, and I’ve waited longer in lines for the movies. You basically arrive, get a number to establish your place in the queue, the set up camp anywhere on the field. We chatted with other fans from around the world, played board games, and ate snacks from the surrounding vendors during the “wasted” day. The next morning, the staff awakens you, organize the queue, and the tickets are purchased - the whole process took a little over an hour.
man... Coco was not playing well at the end of that 3rd set. looked tentative hitting and serving the ball. thankfully she moves so well, the opponent didn't have much threat other than Coco's many unforced errors and double faults. but a wins a win... on to the 2nd round.Just tuning in at the end of the 3rd...not a thing of beauty here.Gauff in 1st round dogfight. Yes, although you weren’t supposed to leave for an extended time from the grounds once you set up camp, we weren’t waiting in line the day prior to the queue. We left a half dozen times during the “wasted” day, for about an hour or so, to get food, walk around, etc.tbh- if my daughter hadn't been in an art program that lasted all day their entire stay, I'd have made sure they tried to get there one day and just park it in line and hope for the best... why not?Federer is my wife’s favorite player, and seeing him play on Centre Court (even losing) was a once in a lifetime opportunity.Vacation + Camping out to buy something + anything = no. I assume the 1 hour part was once the queue forms and moves. because... you were there the evening before, which (working abacus furiously) seems like more than 1 hour.
Hearing Townsend quoted afterwards...this isnt an issue for her. But the media is all over it, so she must be wrong.Jelena Ostapenko appears to tell Taylor Townsend she has ‘no education’ after U.S. Open defeat
...
An altercation ensued, with Ostapenko telling Townsend that she should have said sorry for a shot that clipped the top of the net but stayed in play, known as a net cord.
Townsend said she did not have to say sorry, and the altercation continued. Toward the end, Ostapenko appeared to repeat the phrase “you have no education” three times before Townsend told her that she could “learn how to take a loss better.”

I did not know about this rule. But now that I do, I can safely say it is completely stupid. And then to get pissed off at your opponent for not following a stupid unwritten rule? That is supremely idiotic.
Sounds like both were good matches. Was hoping for an all US final, but Saba has been fantastic.Ladies putting on a show tonight.
thanks- that's a crazy stat... never would've guessed it (wimbledon win not withstanding).Anisimova has 6-3 record head to head. Sabalenka is -200 to Anisimova +160.
Crazy thing is Joker was 3rd best player in the world this year but has seemingly no chance of beating Sinner or AlcarazJoker's best outcome is semi-finalist, seems like
Was hoping for one last hurrah
Even though he won, didn’t look great in QF, imo. Seemed tired.Joker's best outcome is semi-finalist, seems like
