Report: OSU's Terrelle Pryor considering leaving school for NFL

THE DETROIT NEWS

When word came that five Ohio State players would be suspended for the first game games of 2011, they all agreed to return for the season.

It appears one is considering backing out on his word.

Star quarterback Terrelle Pryor apparently is thinking about skipping his senior season and entering the NFL's supplemental draft, according to a report by the National Football Post. The report, citing a source, says it's about 60-40 Pryor will return to school in Columbus.

The supplemental draft, is designed to allow underclassmen — who did not petition the league for early entry before the NFL Draft deadline but find themselves ineligible for the upcoming college season — a way of entering the NFL. The supplemental draft is held after the traditional NFL Draft and before each season begins.

If a team picks in the supplemental draft, it loses a pick in the corresponding round in the next year's NFL Draft.

During a conference call last week, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. projected Pryor to be a tight end in the NFL.

"I've thought all along he was a tight end," Kiper said.

Pryor and four other Buckeyes were allowed to play in the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas with the understanding they would all be benched to start the 2011 season for their role in trading Ohio State memorabilia, apparently for tattoos and cash. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel also will miss the five games for having prior knowledge of the situation.

I could see him as a TE.........I dont find him exceptionally accurate to be a QB. I am not one bit surprised he would leave college instead of face his suspension either.

As a Michigan fan, it would make me sick if the QB who has been beating us handedly for the past 3 years turns out to a be nothing more than an NFL caliber TE.

That said, the dillhole should just return. Not sure what sort of advice he's getting here, but I can't see his supplemental draft pick payday nearing what he'd get next year in the real draft. Maybe I'm wrong though?

This article is complete BS...Pryor is at spring practices everyday working with the team, and going to classes at OSU.

Neither of which I think he would be wasting his time on if he was indeed coming out.

Who is his backup?

Any chance Pryor doesn't get his starting spot back after the suspension is over?

This is exactly what they were talking about on local (Cleveland) radio today. Braxton Miller is the freshman quarterback who, by all accounts, has looked fantastic thus far and has been picking up the offense much, much faster than Pryor ever did. Between Terrelle's injury and his 5 game suspension, Miller could 'theoretically' run away with the job and never look back. Speculation is that Pryor has seen what Braxton has been capable of and that's why he's started exploring the supplemental draft option. He might be worried about the 'potential' writing on the wall since it's the same thing that happened when he was a freshman and he ended up taking Todd Boeckman's starting job after 3 games.Still though, he probably won't do it. Doesn't make financial sense since he'd most likely be a mid-round selection.

Come on guys. He won't go. Remember he promised his coach he wouldn't go pro. He played in the bowl and everything.

Simply put, no.There is no way an incoming freshman out-performs him. Period.

As a HUGE LONGTIME BUCKEYE FAN. I can tell you this is garbage. JT is loyal to his upperclassmen to a fault. Hell he even gave Todd Boeckman every possible chance to keep his job over a clearly superior Pryor. JT will NEVER sit a capable / good Senior over a true Freshman, unless that freshman is faaaaaar superior to the Senior. JT just doesn't operate that way. He's old school and if you put in the time you earn the right to play.

In saying that... please go to the NFL Pryor. You've been a drama queen ever since before you named The Buckeyes as your team. You've only marginally improved your skill set since your Freshman season, and it's painfully clear you lack any form of dedication to REALLY make yourself great. Make sure you sign the biggest signing bonus you can, cus that will be the paycheck you live on for the rest of your life.

He'll be out of the NFL in three years

Well this has surely been proven with his actions over the past year.
