One man who was at the mosque told Radio-Canada that there were two attackers wearing ski masks who burst into the building and opened fire.

The man, who didn’t want to be identified by name, said they had strong Québécois accents, but added that he believed he heard them shouting “Allahu Akbar.” His testimony could not be independently confirmed.

The man said he narrowly escaped when a bullet whizzed over his head. He said the gunmen took aim at those who were still praying.
One was reportedly arrested at the scene of the attack while another fled. Doyon, the police spokesman, said both men had been arrested and would be facing charges of murder.

But police would not provide any information about the individuals who were arrested “for strategic and operational reasons, Doyon said.

“The investigation has not ended,” he said. “We will be trying to verify if there is a third or fourth or any other person involved. We’re not ruling out that there may be other suspects.”

I hope, someday, that people can learn to read these initial reports and figure out for themselves that if they're all referencing only one witness who mayhave heard whatever... Wait to get panties bunched until "whatever" can be legitimately verified.

Two students including one of 'Moroccan origin' have been arrested for the slaughter of six people at a Quebec mosque on Sunday which came a day after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned Donald Trump's Muslim travel ban. 

Gunmen opened fire on worshipers as they prayed at Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center at around 8pm last night in a terrorist attack that has since been branded 'cowardly' and 'barbaric'.

Witnesses claimed the masked killers shouted 'Allahu Akbar' in what sounded like Quebecois accents as they went on the rampage, killing six and leaving eight injured. 

Five people remain in a critical condition in intensive care at Quebec's Hôpital de l'Enfant-Jésus. Another 39 escaped unharmed. 

One of the suspects was arrested in his Mitsubishi jeep after confessing to the shooting in a 911 call. On Monday he took police to a house on a quiet residential street 10 minutes away from the mosque, Le Soleil reports.  

Both of the suspects are students at the city's Université Laval.

Where is that from. Neither CNN or FoxNews have a report on them being immigrants. FoxNews said one suspect had a Quebeqois name and accent.

The source really isn't the problem.  It's the person deciding which accounts and what people to follow.  If you decide to follow a ####ty source, you're going to get ####ty information.

To be honest I have no idea how you read that and came to the response you made. I read your response and was thinking "where did he get that?". Makes it seem like you are looking to be offended. 

On the subject at hand my condolences to the families of the victims. Our best response would be to comfort them and the injured in this time of great trial. Further we must take steps within ourselves and our communities to marginalize and repudiate these acts. And let's be sure that we bring all involved In planning and carrying out this crime to the full measure of justice  they have coming.

 
As for information coming out while everyone is racing to be first? I'd hold off before I picked any "facts" to hang my hat on. We've seen this movie a few times.

He said "strange timing" this happened after Trudeau said Canada would accept refugees. I was confused what he meant by that. Two reasons came to mind, one being that the perpetrators of the attack were refugees or Muslim, the other being Trudeau's comments triggered someone on the alt right to do this.  Thinking he might be referring to the former I asked him in the form of a question if that was what he was inferring, which he clarified was not the case. Considering the shooters have since been identified as Moroccan, in retrospect, I don't believe my query was that far out of line.

Not controversial or surprising, those two have been at the forefront of mainstreaming hate and promoting Islamophobia. I would just assume someone capable of doing this sort of things identifies with them.

These people were just quietly minding their business in a place of worship. I'm just scared of this world sometimes.
