Testaverde's practicing... (1 Viewer)

Good news for Smith owners. I may have to bench S. Holmes with this news.
I'm not sure I'd do that. Holmes has a GREAT matchup this week against the Browns. However, Vinny possibly starting is definitely excellent news for Smith owners - especially in PPR leagues. Vinny should be able to get the ball to Smith 5-6 times at least which is something Carr is incapable of doing.

Can you believe how excited we all are about a 44 year old QB being able to hobble out to practice?

Further proof that FF turns you into a complete lunatic.

and, oh yeah--

:D  :excited:  :banned: :) :pickle:  :pickle:  :hifive: :thanks:

Ok, Ok, OK...

What is this world coming to when people are this excited that VINNY TESTAVERDE is starting?!?!

Let me check my calendar.... This IS 2007, right? Not 1996.

I can't speak for other Smith owners but for me it's not a case of being excited that Vinny is starting but rather a case of being excited that David Carr won't be starting.

He had 10 catches in that game... 12 targets.

10/136/1 in Week 6 with Vinny

2/18/0 in Week 8 with Vinny

So which Vinny are we going to see in Week 10? Week 6 or Week 8? Personally I'd bench him instead of taking the risk!

Vinny got hurt in that game. Carr threw the majority of passes. Those two catches came on the first two drives with Vinny at QB. Another catch was erased by a penalty.

And he had two more incompletes targeted to Smith. Thats 5 tries in the first half. And they were playing the Indy Colts.

That's good enough for me - if Vinny can start and play.

Well, I have to bench one of Smith, Holmes, Colston and TO. A good headache to have. Vinny knows he has to feed Smith the ball. If Vinny plays he'll throw a lot in Smith's direction. Hopefully Vinny can stay upright from here on out.

I'm still not feeling too good about starting Smith this week even with VT in.

Remember last time CAR played ATL.....Smith caught one pass for 5 yards. DeAngelo Hall was glued to Smith's hip pocket the entire game exclusively. He made it his mission to shut Smith down and he did. In this game both Jake and Carr played (mostly Jake), so regardless of who is throwing to him this week it may be tough treading, but it is at home. Hall had Smith so rattled that game. Sure Hall got all the penalties that cost them, but he closed up shop on Steve.

I'm thinking of running Hackett or Roddy over him this week?

good point. still, if VT gets the nod, im not rolling in WR studs that can take his spot (unless reggie brown and pat crayton qualify, but im quite sure they dont).though from your standpoint, i would consider hackett.

best of luck to all SSmith owners, we DO need it.

I'd wait one more week to start Smith for two reasons. First, let's see if Vinny can hold up another game without reaggrevating his achilles. Second, DeAngelo Hall has shut down Smith the last two times they've matched up for a total of ONE catch. If you have even a decent possession receiver I'd go with him this week and hope for the best for Smith after that.

"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!"

~ Steve Smith Owners everywhere

Vinny Testaverde (Achilles) was unable to practice Friday. He is listed as questionable for Week 10 against the Falcons.

With David Carr listed as out, next up on the depth chart is undrafted rookie Matt Moore. Moore has thrown seven passes this season, completed three, and was intercepted on another. If Testaverde isn't available for backup duty, Drew Olson will likely be signed from the practice squad. It's worth noting that Testaverde isn't ruled out and could still start Sunday.

I'd rather see Moore than Carr. Not even close. I can't imagine there's any way Moore would hurt Smith's production more than Carr has.

He didn't suffer a setback says the coach. They are just resting him. But if anyone has Vinny as your QB this week then I think you're desperate. Best of luck.

"CHARLOTTE -- The Carolina Panthers quarterback situation was thrown back into flux on Friday as quarterback Vinny Testaverde sat out practice with soreness in his right Achilles tendon.

The Panthers are hoping that with some rest Testaverde will be able to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. If not, then the Panthers will turn to rookie Matt Moore to make his first NFL start.

David Carr has been ruled out for Sunday’s game with a concussion, according to coach John Fox.

"I wouldn't say Vinny had a setback, but it was a little sore and we elected to rest him," coach John Fox said of Testaverde.

Testaverde is listed as questionable on the injury report, and if he doesn't play then rookie Matt Moore will make his first NFL start against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

David Carr was ruled out for Sunday's game with a concussion.

Also, center Justin Hartwig (thumb) and wide receiver Keary Colbert (foot) are listed as questionable, although both practiced Friday"
