**Texans at Colts** (+3, 49) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Started watching late and just caught up at the end.

Great job by both the Texans O-line, and Mixon. Mixon did a lot more with the rock than we've seen in Houston for a few years with what he had. But the O-line did a great job giving him holes as well.

Stroud had a nice day, exactly what they needed from him. All 3 Texans WRs were involved, good job by Slowik with the play calling. Diggs with a pair of red zone TDs. I had suspected we might see Diggs get more of the red zone opportunities than the others. Good to see Nico over 100 yards. And Tank didn't have a lot of yards this game, but big play on the reverse, and a few throws that CJ wasn't able to step into that went to Tank. Not worried about him getting his over the course of the season.

I know the announcers at halftime talked about how good Anthony Richardson looked. But I really didn't see it, not in the passing game. A lot of inaccurate throws. Their only offense was the run, and deep passes. And Richardson missed on some of the open deep passes at that. As a Texans fan, this game made me feel more comfortable about Richardson in the division, not worse.

Texans Run D did a nice job. Didn't shut Indy down, but they made Richardson have to win it throwing, and he couldn't do it. Secondary needs to tighten up on those deep routes that they got beat on though. Interested to see what the coverages were. They might have shown replays during the game itself but I was fast forwarding between snaps a lot for starting late, so didn't catch where the busts were except for Lassiter getting beat and committing the foul.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize the Colts had called a timeout to protest the time on the clock. That time should have never wound if so. That would also explain why Houston lined up for a play.
That's true. If the Colts called timeout then the clock shouldn't have run. Refs did a list job explaining what they were going with there. Shouldn't have been any runoff if they called timeout

Commenting on earlier stuff, but yeah, agree here. The ref was the biggest part of the problem. After they got the timing wrong, they needed to give a full explanation that included that the timeout didn't happen and that the clock would run.

But Demeco and company should take it on themselves that they didn't confirm the situation, too. Something to learn from. The ref had a responsibility there to let both teams know what was happening and he didn't. But the team needs to be looking out for themselves.

Houston is the "soup du jour" after last seasons surprise.
Colts will be tough if Anthony stays healthy all season.
Tough opener for the team favored to win their division.
But I believe...

Texans- 33
Colts- 23
Colts 70
Texans 3

:pickle:
At least I was close. Can’t win them all.
Yep, it was a good game overall. Good luck next week GB.
Playing them without Love takes away the home field advantage . Also, nice not to have to play them in a snowstorm.

Mixon looks to have plenty left in the tank and the Bengals had no interest in keeping him and the Texans were very happy to take him

Not gonna lie... I was sitting there in the offseason quietly predicting that Houston would come to regret the Mixon extension.

But if there's a falloff coming from him, it's not here yet at least after one game. He looked great. Made guys miss, ran physical and churned out extra yards, picked the right holes, found space when it wasn't there, and avoided some guys in the backfield.

I meant Good Buddy not Green Bay. But, truth to what you said.

Mixon in that offense might be the best FA signing..
well, I knew the line was better than the one he left behind in Cinci. figured hed be better but not this much better. granted is a one game sample size so maybe we are jumping to conclusions here, but the early returns look good.

ARich threw a total of 19 passes in a 29-27 game where his team lost by just 2 points
He completed just 9 of those passes
Pierce 4/125/TD...how often is that happening?
Ashton Kutcher had 1 catch for 54 yds a TD

Total of just 4 players that registered a catch all day for Indy
I'm surprised Houston didn't win by more

I liked him in that 70s show.

I want to keep it light, in theory he had a great FF day
Just glance at a few box scores and then pull up Texans-Colts, it's startling how few catches anyone got and how few receivers were involved in the game
That cannot continue

-They won't be playing the Texans every week, people seem excited about them and their performance despite the loss
It must be a lot more good than bad despite what MoP might think
