**Texans at Jaguars** (+3.5, 44) 1:00 (3 Viewers)

Texans will win their division
But they aren't playing like division winners
Jaguars aren't playing like an NFL team
Trevor may be back
Does it matter?
I think it does this week
If Trevor plays...

Color me surprised they aren't shutting Lawrence down. They are out of the playoff hunt, and are in the #1 pick hunt, Lawrence playing hurt only screws that up, while adding future risk. That said, I think this is a close to 50-50 game. I think the Texans are pretty mediocre.

For the Jags, I think Lawrence could pick apart this secondary, especially to Evan Engram.

For the Texans, Stroud should be able to pick apart this secondary, especially to Nico Collins.

I could take the Texans in Survivor today, have not had the opp to select them most weeks with any kind of confidence and then I see you hyping an upset
Is TLaw back or is still the Mac n Cheese show there?

When you pay him $275M you are not looking to lock up the No 1 pick, I think it's important for the Jags to win a couple games down the stretch here and see if they have anything to keep going into next season, I don't even know where to start with this team but my guess is it starts with the starting 5 OL up front

I sorta get that, but at the same time, its not like Lawrence has job security issues, and I think getting the #1 pick would allow them to trade down and fill multiple holes since they don't need a QB. Although if I ran the Jags, I'd be all about just taking Travis Hunter.

I'm reading Lawernce is "expected" to play
That's from the local pubs

No surprise. Al-Shaair is a dirty player and has a lot of stuff about him I don’t like.

eta* Edited because I mentioned his cleats and they’re inherently political, which I try to avoid but the NFL had made such a big deal about it and there was a focus on him at one point in particular these past weeks.

I would be ok with sitting Houston QB too. No team should lose their starting QB to a hit like that without the other team losing just as much

Yeah that was a brutal shot. Ejection was very warranted and won't be surprised if he misses Miami game too over it.

No need to go after people's heads like that.

He needs at least a two game suspension at a minimum . Heavy 100K fine is allowable thru the CBA.

I mean holy hell that was as blatant as I have seen in years and years .

Agree with Darryl Johnston too. There shouldn't just be offsetting penalties when there's a situation like that. Some kind of instigator penalty that gets assessed would be an improvement.

Suspend him for the season. It’s the only answer.
Several million dollar fine as well.

I'm sad nobody knee capped Al-Shahir in the scrum. That would be well deserved. F that guy.

ETA: Watching him complain about being shoved by Jags players, and yapping about it, makes me think the Texans are a garbage team if he's a captain.

OMG cheapest hit I've seen in a long time. Kick him out, max fine, suspended at least 2 games, long if Lawrence hurt longer then that
In hockey they have had suspensions where guys couldn't come back until the player they cheapshotted did. If Lawrence is out for the year, he should be too.

No. I don’t think they’ve ever done that, travdogg. I played hockey up until I was twenty-two pretty ardently and seriously and followed the NHL for a long, long time (more than any other sport) and they never did that. They always said that should be a rule or a method of suspension but it was never undertaken.

In fact, I stopped watching the sport in 2002 because of the lack of punishment for goon crap.

Or the brotherhood of NFL players can take matters into their own hands. Next team he plays against, some big OL protector type should take him out for good.

Never liked Al-Shaair and everything he has done and has on today just makes me dislike him like people hated Kaepernick. How he gets to wear those cleats and that the NFL allows it is beyond me.

Always liked Evan engram. I just wish he’d have hit h8m farther. I hope 0 is suspended and fined as much as possible.

I think it was in the early 2010s where a guy basically rode a players face into the ice, and he was out for a year with a concussion, and the player that did it was out until then. Maybe that was a 1-time thing, but I distinctly remember it.

Oh, was that the Bertuzzi-Steve Moore incident in 2004? That resulted in a suspension and Moore never played again, so that isn’t the case that he was suspended as long as Moore was out. That’s also a violation of the CBA, I believe. Reddit says no. Everything I’m reading says they don’t do that. They never did when I was following it and we used to ask for it.

And they never did. It’s a common lament among fans that they don’t and it’s an unwritten rule in playoff hockey that the league will do that.

But no, bro, I gently think you’re wrong. But today is about football!

Yeah, I was misremembering how that went down.

That said, I think maybe far more severe penalties should happen. Like automatic 1st and goal from the 1 for a cheapshot like that, regardless of where it happened on the field. Maybe that would curb some plays like that?
