Applebee's is the worst chain restaraunt in existence
very pedestrian chain but nowhere near as bad as ApplebeesI ate there tonite. I am not really impressed but hey, that's what I get for ordering the special - 11 oz. Sirloin.
I enjoy their rib/steak combo and their cinnamon butter is pretty bangin.I like both. You ordered the wrong thing. Sirloin is the worst cut ever in the history of ever. Texas road house has a nice ribeye.
It seems you'd have to go way out of your way to screw up something like that.I enjoy their rib/steak combo and their cinnamon butter is pretty bangin.I like both. You ordered the wrong thing. Sirloin is the worst cut ever in the history of ever. Texas road house has a nice ribeye.
True, but not everyone offers it.It seems you'd have to go way out of your way to screw up something like that.I enjoy their rib/steak combo and their cinnamon butter is pretty bangin.I like both. It may sound ridiculous, but there is a Golden Correl in Bedford, IN that actually knows how to cook a good steak and has an excellent buffet, while Golden Correls in general suck but. Good management can make a huge difference. That place stays packed. They are both terrible where I live along with Olive Garden. It just depends on the chef. I've been to plenty of places where one place is awesome and the same place sucks the next town over. Same with the service.
The Elephant Bar is the best in that type of restaurant category in my area, but go down to Irvine, and it sucks so bad. I couldn't believe the difference.
I've had this same exact experience with national chain restaurants locally. Our local Texas Roadhouse is pretty solid and is a great kid place. Not all locations do the line dancing, apparently (although that might be name confusion -- Roadhouse Grill does/did line dancing, but never seen it at Texas Roadhouse). It just depends on the chef. I've been to plenty of places where one place is awesome and the same place sucks the next town over. Same with the service.
.
Chain places and even buffet places don't have to suck out loud ... it's just easier (and probably a lot cheaper) to run them that way.
If you could not taste the saltiness of their food.... you may want to look at how much sodium you intake in a day because you may be desensitized cause the two times I went there and go whatever I got.... all I remember was that I was eating a salt lick and that is WITH the expectation of the food being over salted because it is a chain restaurant. From a health standpoint (ie; sodium levels) Applebees is a killer...literally. My mom is on a low sodium diet and when I told her the wife and I were eating some Applebees-To-Go, she told me to check out the nutrition info, particularly their sodium levels... off the charts bad...

Appetizer Sampler and Grilled Fajitas are a combined 12000 mg of sodium (6 days worth for those on a restricted or low sodium diet @ 2000mg per day )... crazy. That was the last time I ever ate there and that was 3 years ago.
I tried to find a comparison chart for Texas Roadhouse, but apparently they do not offer nutritional information (http://www.texasroadhouse.com/contact-us#nutritional-information)
3 years, you'd be correct. But now that my mom is on a low sodium diet and I cook that way for her and my family, I am very cognizant of sodium and always read labels now...If you could not taste the saltiness of their food.... you may want to look at how much sodium you intake in a day because you may be desensitized cause the two times I went there and go whatever I got.... all I remember was that I was eating a salt lick and that is WITH the expectation of the food being over salted because it is a chain restaurant. From a health standpoint (ie; sodium levels) Applebees is a killer...literally. Once huh? Good sample size.Applebees sucks. But I went to Texas Roadhouse once. It sucked too and since you pay more it gets a lower rating than the lowly Applebees.
Off subject but I view sugar as far more of a "killer" than sodium. I think sodium gets a bad rap. From a health standpoint (ie; sodium levels) Applebees is a killer...literally. Eh/ Roadhouse is not expensive at all. I guess if you are grabbing a happy hour drink and cheap appetizer, Applebees might be cheaper, but their food still sucks.Applebees sucks. Oven Roasted Chicken, seasoned rice, and the rolls with cinnamon butter are great! The season rice there might be one of my favorite sides ever.
Exhibit A in the divorce proceedings?I remember eating at Applebees with my ex-wife once. the server brought all my food and totally forgot about hers. Wanting to see how long it would take for them to catch the oversight, I ate my dinner while my wife watched. When the check finally arrived, they asked how everything was... mine was ok I told the server; my wife never got hers. Wound up getting my dinner for free and we left without paying a nickel. called Domino's for my wife when we got home.
So no food at Crapplebees to a pizza from Domino's? She would have been better off with going hungryI remember eating at Applebees with my ex-wife once. the server brought all my food and totally forgot about hers. What's funny about that story is that a lot of people will come out of that situation blaming the large entity "Applebee's". Really, that all came down to one person's volition -- the ridiculously inattentive server who should've checked what came out of the kitchen on his ticket. Or else he/she didn't even enter your wife's meal into the order-entry computer ... in which case the server was still at fault.I remember eating at Applebees with my ex-wife once. the server brought all my food and totally forgot about hers. Not only was the food was terrible at both these places near me but it was soooooo salty! I do not add any salt to anything I make. Tastes good to me and it's very healthy because what we eat naturally has some salt in it. Very few people actually need additional sodium in their body so if you can kick the salt shaker habit, you're doing yourself good.SeaDogStat said:From a health standpoint (ie; sodium levels) Applebees is a killer...literally.
