Football is the ultimate Team sport. No one individual wins a Super Bowl. Ted and Mike have had to make some tough decisions along the way, but tonight proves they made them correctly.

I had my own questions over McCarthy this year (Detroit game)...but wow...this team came together.

From players, to coaches...all of them.

Such a great win...great Championship.

Great TEAM!!!

That's been the most remarkable thing about this team this year. Every week it was another hero. The Super Bowl was no different with Driver, Shields and Woodson going down.

From a PR standpoint I didn't care for how they handled the Favre situation a few years back. But I think what these 2 have done with this organization is remarkable. I mean 15 players on IR. Then a key def player and offensive player go down by halftime and they pull out the win. Hats off to My Packers. Great job.

Tightwad Ted Thompson gets the last laugh. He and McCarthy really exemplify the "right" way to do things. Always professional, always classy. Always giving credit to the entire organization. They just get it.

This is McCarthy's greatest strength as head coach. Not many coaches could keep their team believing through that kind of adversity. The players love him and he's pushed all the right buttons.

And for Thompson to have stockpiled so much depth that he could afford to lose all those players including Finley, Grant, Barnett and others and come away with the championship is simply amazing.

someone bump the post where yall ##### about not going after lynch. lol running backs. the most replaceable position in football.

They did go after Lynch, from what I read.Prepared to offer more than Seattle ended up spending IIRC.Congrats Pack!Well-deserved championship despite a huge amount of adversity.

Looks like all the Ted Thompson critics have been silenced now.
Not me. There is a lot about TT that deserves criticism such as where is the LT of the future?

You guys that keep saying you can't criticize or discuss his failures are crazy. He has made a lot of bad picks in the first 3 rounds, but has also made a lot of good ones. Discussion is good.

On Rodgers he was very lucky, but McCarthy's QB School the first 2-3 years made a lot of difference in his development.

Together TT and McCarthy have done well.

And they did it without one of their best weapons (Finley). I'm sure one of Thompson's goals is to improve their OL, & if they can get that done, this offense will be incredible.

They also have a good D. Right now, I'd bet on them repeating.

Bulaga could be the LT of the future. But we are going to criticize a GM that put together a Super Bowl team the day after because they may not have the LT of the future right now?

All I know is that the NFC doesn't look forward to having to deal with Aaron Rodgers for the next 10 years or so. He is going to win more of these very likely.

 Guy built a roster that was able to sustain 15 season ending injuries and they are loaded at key positions. No GM is perfect but the way Thompson has set this team up for not only this year but for the foreseeable future is nothing short of amazing. I honestly can't think of another GM I'd want right now.

Really? I can guarantee that every other NFL fan wishes their biggest issue was the LT of some vaguely defined future. With Shields and Tramon Williams the Pack will have an awesome CB combo for the next few years while Woodson continues to play more of a hybrid role. Both Raji and Matthews were clearly A+ picks last year. The offense will be top 10 as long as Rodgers is there, and Rodgers had most of his success this season without a freakishly athletic TE who should be the 1A to Jennings for the foreseeable future. TT might not have literally been perfect over the past five years, but I would argue that he has done a better job than any other GM, and he has his team set up for more success, both short and long term, than any other team in the NFL.

Mike McCarthy's Mission Statement

posted 01/12/2006

Upon accepting the Green Bay Packers' head coaching position, Mike McCarthy issued the following mission statement:

THE FOUNDATION FOR THE NEW DIRECTION OF THE GREEN BAY PACKERS WILL BE CONSTRUCTED WITH THREE KEY COMPONENTS OF OBTAINING "PACKER PEOPLE," CREATING "STABLE STRUCTURE" AND CONCENTRATING ON "CHARACTER AND CHEMISTRY."

A POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT WILL BE CREATED WITH "LEADERSHIP" THAT KEEPS ITS EYE ON THE TARGET OF ESTABLISHING A CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL TEAM.

THE DIRECTION WILL BE FUELED WITH CONSTANT COMMUNICATION TO ENSURE EVERYONE IS ON BOARD. WE WILL ATTACK THE VOYAGE WITH ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM TO OVERCOME THE OBSTACLES THAT WE WILL ENCOUNTER.

THIS VISION IS ENHANCED WITH RESOURCES AND TRADITION THAT STANDS IN THE FOREFRONT OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS.

I AM HONORED AND PRIVILEGED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ON A NEW JOURNEY BACK TO THE PINNACLE THAT BEARS THE NAME OF "COACH LOMBARDI."

Rodgers pick was luck, I love when Anti Ted Gang states this. No he shouldnt have been there because he was talented. But it took some nuts to take a QB when you had a top 5 NFL QB already on the roster who wasnt showing any signs of slowing down. Most people wanted Ted to fill a hole for a run at a super bowl for that year. LT of the future? Do you understand that is why Bululga was drafted last year?? He played RT because of an injury, not because he cant play LT. Land will either be LG or RT depending what happens with picks and free agency.

This is a team just entering their window right now. Second youngest in the NFL and almost every single player is battle tested because of the injuries this season. And remember, this was a very shallow team that Ted took over with very little tooth to the defense.

McCarthy deserved coach of the year this season. Thompson has already won the Executive of the Year award. They have the hardware. They have a very good cap situation if the cap remains (it most likely will). They've got high character guys. This team isn't even as good as it can be. If they ever hit on all cylinders, they'd be virtually unstoppable.

The Patriots just went 14-2 in a rebuilding year and hold 3 of the first 33 picks in this year's draft.

And if they hit on those picks and win a super bowl I'll change my opinion. But I said over the past five seasons, and I do think what TT has done is pretty incredible. This is the Pats chance to do something great with their draft though

As a Packer fan I have to admit that I thought Ted and Mike were wrong with the Favre fiasco. They have proven me wrong. This is a solid organization that could be poised for a few more trips to the SB. Rodgers is a fantastic QB, much more accurate than Favre and he does not make the stupid mistakes Favre used to make.

They also traded back to the Packers when Thompson selected Clay Matthews.

I'll preface this by saying that I'd still rather have Matthews, but instead of Matthews, the Pats ended up with Darius Butler, Brandon Tate, Julian Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski. Not exactly  , is it?

How wrong could they be? Favre wasn't getting any younger and a commitment to the future was necessary.Congrats to the the Pack and their fans.

I would say it's completely :own3d: Gronkowski is the only long-term starter of the group IMO.

What made it a rebuilding year for the Pats? Weren't they favored to win their division in 2010?I guess the Packers had a rebuilding year too.

Jets were favored by most prognosticators and the "trendy" pick was to place NE at third in the division, behind the Dolphins who were thought to surprise with Henne/Penny at the helm.

The Patriots were typically in the preseason top 5-10 for Vegas odds to win the Super Bowl this year.

Not to pick nits, but that's revisionist history, the Packers were one play away from the Super Bowl in Favre's last year there.

And what happened on that ONE play?

Packer shareholders were chanting Ted Thompson's name today at the annual shareholders meeting.

Sad that I wasn't able to make it this year. Everything else I'm hearing from the meeting sounds very positive.

As a Thompson supporter from day 1, I still feel like a lot of these people really turned their backs on the team when Favre left. It kind of disgusts me how they were so fair weathered about that. Now they just act like it didn't happen. Pretty weak.

Are these the 'shareholders' that paid $ for a piece of paper saying that they didn't actually own anything?
