Thanks Obama (1 Viewer)

Ah there we go.  You're a racist if you didn't like him from the beginning.  Can't you guys come up with some new stuff for once?
More than anything, these are the most horrible arguements made in politics.   If you support this you must be a _________.   It does not matter what you fill in the blank with, Fascist/Racist/Communist, the arguement always takes any discussion into the gutter.   Absolutely the worst.  We are all guilty of it at times, but Tim is the all-time king of this tactic.

Yes.  And that's why all these threads ultimately end up deleted.

I didn't say that.

ETA. Just to clarify, I don't consider any interactions on this board to be part of my anecdotal experiences in regards to something as reprehensible as racism. I don't know any of you personally, nor have engaged in conversations or shared experiences in regards to race with any of you.

I wish everyone was willing to work with the ACA. For example, every state should have accepted the Medicaid expansion. And I think it was a bad idea to alllow carriers drop out of the market. They could have waited longer to let things play out. Something like the ACA isn't an instant cure, it has to be tweaked and amended. Its just sad that they want to repeal the entire thing instead of just fixing whatever they feel is wrong.

One day I hope I hope a politician is brave enough to try to eliminate health insurance companies. They're the common denominator in all of the issues we have in our healthcare system.

Its funny you guys say Obama was too divisive towards the GOP. One of the main things I read about Obama is that he was "too centrist" and tried to play both sides of the field too much and didn't stand his ground enough. But I guess it just depends on how you view his actions.
Yup -- and to think it was a Republican ideal --they just didn't want to work with "O" and give him this achievement.  Medicaid not expanding, especially in Southern states, with disproportion of under-served as african american makes me want to barf.

If someone were to come along and say that your version of this story is lacking in some credibility, and pointed out that your user profile had not yet been created in June 2015 to support their claim, what would you say to them?
I'd tell them that I prior to Higgs my user name was General Tso, which I asked to be nuked because of a personal situation.

Please explain. Are you looking at a term average? No agenda just curious as I found the following:

Obama on 1/7/17 = 56/40/4 (approve/disapprove/undecided)

Reagan on 12/29/88 = 63/29/8

Regarding the original post I agree that Obama did himself and the country proud.
Seems to be just polling at a particular time --I  saw Reagans avg 52 ish over the 8 and this has him at 51 in March of 88 http://www.politicususa.com/2016/03/10/obama-approval-rating-par-reagan-hitting-year-high.html

Southern states could have benefitted the most from the Medicaid expansion, especially a state like Texas that has the worst maternal mortality rate in the country.

Political parties have to stop being vehemently against one another. It's embarrassing as hell.

Wouldn't matter what any of us put.
I am genuinely seeking to understand here.  I think Obama's presidency had many flaws, but "divisive" is not a negative attribute that comes to mind about him from my POV.

I can't guarantee you that I'll agree, but I am listening.  A broad and vague claim has been made here am I'm asking for it to be clarified and supported. Is that too much to ask?

Huh?  How are you going to force companies to stay in a market?  Unless you can show them discriminating somehow, I don't see how that can possibly happen.

Plus, I'm pretty sure the idea was to force all of them out of the market and then the federal government would have to swoop in and save the day with a single payer system.

I can provide examples if you like.  Part of me feels like this is inappropriate in a tribute thread.  I feel kind of bad sullying this thread up to begin with.  I just assume  focus on the positives at this point.  Obama will always hold a special place in history.  He carried himself with class and dignity and like I said, the country is going to be better off in the long term for having had him.

So the first reply in this thread was a mistake, and dare I say, divisive?

Southern states are not interested in promoting the expansion of the welfare state.

(Also, on a completely unrelated topic, southern states are not interested in promoting birth control or sex education.)

Like I said, I think both sides suck on this (and most) issue(s), just saying that the narrative that the left bent over backwards to work with the right in the beginning is  :bs: . They were in full on "scoreboard" mode (just like the right is now).
You, sir, seem too reasonable to post here.
