Then watch David Bowie on Ricky Gervais's show, Extras. Maybe you don't think he's funny (because you're a savage who's lived in a cave or something), but RG's willingness to make himself the butt of the joke here is top drawer IMO.First listen to this:Ricky Gervais sings Space Oddity

a little disappointing that the song of the 60s gets slotted behind "I Wanna Be Your Dog" but i guess its a matter of taste...2. The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter” (from Let It Bleed)

Without giving away my number 1 pick (though it can’t be that difficult to guess I’ll keep it hidden for a few more hours yet), let’s just say that I REALLY struggled between the top two. This is more of a 1b than a 2.
The sublime Merry Clayton on backup vocals.
Dooooood!a little disappointing that the song of the 60s gets slotted behind "I Wanna Be Your Dog" but i guess its a matter of taste...
Frank Sinatra calls it the best love song ever written before performing it.1. The Beatles “Something” (from Abbey Road)

A song about Pattie Boyd, a fashion model who probably has had more great rock songs written about her than any other person (including, along with this one, “If I Needed Someone”, “Layla”, and “Wonderful Tonight”). Arguably George Harrison’s best song, arguably The Beatles’ finest melody, this is my #1 song of 1969.
As usual this was a whole lot of fun, though exhausting. Looking forward to @Bracie Smathers do a second hundred (and @Pip's Invitation do a third hundred!) Amazing year.
I'm not going to put any pressure on Pip for a third-100 because it became tight for me, not to get to 100 but to get quality at the top.1. The Beatles “Something” (from Abbey Road)

As I said, I’ll see how it goes while yours is in progress. There probably won’t be many classic rock staples left, but it was a rich year.I'm not going to put any pressure on Pip for a third-100 because it became tight for me, not to get to 100 but to get quality at the top.

Frank is wrong. He musta been drunk Unchained Melody, the version with Bobby Hatfield singing, is >>Frank Sinatra calls it the best love song ever written before performing it.
Wow, somehow I thought that was Todd Rungren. Its a really annoying song whether Joni or Todd sang it.
I've seen Todd mistaken for Carole King before -- I Saw the Light sounds like it would fit on Tapestry -- but never Joni. I don't think their voices are remotely similar.Wow, somehow I thought that was Todd Rungren. Its a really annoying song whether Joni or Todd sang it.
Take a shot at Joni, take a shot at me but Binky caught in the cross fire?Wow, somehow I thought that was Todd Rungren. Its a really annoying song whether Joni or Todd sang it.

You realize you share your username with the title of a Todd song?Joni, Todd, Carole - all are dead to me.

It was a perfect stranger on both lists.Same album or the self-titled debut?
ETA: if the latter (some discrepancy whether it was released in ‘68 or ‘69), I may be a-lone in my choice.
