"Yep, throw in the fact that "The Wave" was popularized at Husky Stadium (some even say created there) you start to get an idea that this area breeds crazy loud fans."Not something to be proud of.
Funny, because when I went to the SuperDome this year, they were doing it there. Not sure why inventing an iconic fan interaction is something to be ashamed of....

Yes the Super Dome gets loud . Too bad we didn't get to use it this post season. I still cant believe we had to travel but what's done is done. That will have to be corrected for next post season for sure.
Indeed. You should try to win your division next year. You get to host a playoff game if you do that, you know.
That happened last year and the Saints won the Superbowl. What's your point? Saints were only a game behind the top seed, a team from the same division which is probably the toughest in the league. Remember the Buccs were pretty much snubbed due to a division winner with a losing record. I understand being proud to be in the playoffs, but you're coming off like a ####. Winning a division with a losing record isn't something to be proud of.....sorry. congrats on beating the Saints, but I don't think you can find any sensible Saint fan who was expecting to do much with our top 2 RBs IRed the same week. I haven't seen your team win a title yet so your attitude is a little premature.
You guys sure whine a lot for a team who won a damn ring LAST year.
If I whined about anything in my statement it was about the Buccs not making the playoffs. Why would I care about that? Just making a point about your ######## attitude.
Here, I bolded it in case you missed it the first time you typed it.

This reminds me of a great Rick Reilly article from a few years back about Seattle sports and sports fans. LINK While Seahawk and particularly, Husky fans are very proud of the wave, Rick sums up what the rest of the country is thinking:

Your greatest contribution to sports was the Wave, the fan-participation stunt that screams to the world, "We have no idea what the score is!"

There are some really, really good lines in that article

 Yes, no one else other than Husky/Seahawks fans do the wave. Seattle fans are probably the most educated fans when it comes to knowing when and how to cheer, if you dispute that you probably haven't been to a Hawks/Huskies game. Trying to downplay an iconic fan interaction is fine, but acting like it isn't a sports wide trend that every team has done is pretty silly.Oh, I will also add, they did the wave when I went to a Miami game as well.

It's actually a Pac NW thing. Portland Trailblazers and Oregon Duck fans are insanely loud as well. Sonic fans were crazy back when they were around. I've theorized that we (in the Pac NW) have an inferiority complex when it comes to sports because we feel constantly overlooked by the National media. So we make up for it by being really obnoxious, educated about our sports, and very, very loud about it all. I love it. And one day I hope we Seahawk fans will finally be rewarded for all the hard work and devotion we put in to the games. Trailblazers too, but that's for another forum!

You realize the Buccs weren't snubbed at all because of the Hawks? They wouldn't have made it in, regardless of whether or not the Hawks made it. They didn't make it because not only did they not win their division, they didn't have enough wins to beat out the other two teams. If the Rams won it at 8-8, Buccs would have still been sitting at home. There argument that two good teams (NY, TB) were pushed out of the playoffs by the Hawks is completely false, Hawks had nothing to do with them missing the playoffs.
:moneybag:You do realize I was pointing out how weak the NFC West was a a conference, and that the NFC South was arguably the toughest division. If we disregarded division winners Seattle wouldn't have made it. It's amusing that a fan would act like a jackass and act as if winning their division was some great feat. Yet the Saints should try better to win their division even though they had only 5 losses, 2 less than the division winner and #1 seed in the NFC. It might have been 4 if Brees and other starters had played all of week 17. But if it means that much to be boastful about winning the division that is the laughing stock of the NFL, by all means go ahead. If you guys beat Chicago I will eat my crow, but I don't think you stand a chance.

Who cares how weak one division is vs. another. It's the rules. It's also a rule that in order to win a football game you need to score more points than your opponents.

Either you didn't read the posts leading to this or your reading comprehension is horrible. It's obvious from the game thread that you don't like the Saints for some reason. I don't care. Either way I don't need your comments about something that was covered already in this discussion. It just makes you look ridiculous.

Anytime. This statement always cracks me up when people throw it out there. It's not my fault you didn't read through the whole discussion. It's also not my fault you purposely tried to call me out on a subject that I already covered, and I can't help it your overly sensitive.

Meh. I remember the Kingdome in 1984 being louder when Dave Krieg was taking down the hated Raiders. When the wave got rolling that place was painful on the ears.

You're the one who sounds overly sensitive. What I find amusing is that you make an assumption that I didn't read the discussion. Yes, I did. You were complaining about the NFC West Division Winner having a home playoff game while the Bucs missed out. Not that hard of a subject to comprehend before making my reply. The fact is, as was already pointed out, the Bucs would have missed the playoffs regardless of whether it was Seattle or St. Louis that won the final game of the season. Your posts have sounded like nothing but sour grapes because you lost. "Our division is tougher," "We have more wins," "We have a championship" "Your division sucks" Big deal. If you want to guarantee yourself a home playoff game, win your division, pretty simple. Who cares is one division happens to be weaker, that's just the way things work sometimes and eventually gets corrected in time. There was a time when both New England and the Jets were the laughing stock of the AFC East, now they're meeting to determine who's one win away from a Super Bowl while Miami and Buffalo are the bottom feeders of a division they use to own. There was a time not too long ago where the Saints fans were wearing paper bags over their heads, things change. What doesn't change though is that if you win a division you host a playoff game. All of the posts and comments I've seen, read and heard in the weeks and days leading up to last week's game in Seattle were beyond annoying saying that the system was broke and needed to be fixed blah blah blah. Yes, let's throw away the whole playoff format and re-write it based on events that happened in ONE season. You said that I seem to have something against the Saints, I don't. What I don't like however is the number of Saints fans crying about last week's game or making excuses or trying to throw around their Championship in people's faces as a way to feel better about themselves. Congrats on winning the Super Bowl, LAST YEAR. But this is 2011 and this year Seattle is 1-0 and New Orleans is 0-1.

Thank you for this ridiculous post. You're showing just how much of a moron you are. You really need to learn better reading comprehension. You are wrong about multiple things. I never complained about not having a home playoff game in this or any other thread. Other Saints fans may have, but I wasn't one of them. Please provide a link disproving me.......PLEASE. I also didn't complain about the Buccs not making the playoffs. Proninja said I was whining in one of my statements. I pointed out that in that particular statement if anything may have appeared as whining, it was that the Buccs missed the playoffs with a better record. I then proceeded to say that I could care less about the Buccs missing the playoffs. I only used them as an example in showing how bad the West is. A couple of Seahawk fans (proninja, Imthescientist) are acting like complete jerks very prematurely......over a wildcard win. I never called the playoff system broken or said it needed to be changed. I never threw the championship in anyones face to make myself feel better. As stated in this thead earlier, I was not comfortable in this game due to the # of players we had inactive. You also could have fooled me about hating the Saints. In the game thread on Saturday you were spreading your hate on pretty thick. Again, really go back and read my posts. Maybe next time you'll think before you make yourself look like a complete idiot.
Are you mad about something?

go to the home of the REAL 12TH MAN- on the campus of Texas A&M Univ- and see what it really means! 12th Man is a tradition at A&M that dates back to early part of the 20th century. what Seattle claims is a second hand version of the 12th man- but anyone has to admit they are still a rowdy bunch of fans that do impact the game tho.
This is a joke, Texas A&M shouldn't think they have the monopoly to use to the term "12th Man." 12th Man is just as much a part of football lexicon as the words "Touchdown" "Field Goal" and "Safety" are. You don't see other teams claiming to own a copywrite on a football term. So what if Seattle "markets" the 12th Man, anybody would if they have the support the Seahawks do.
The Seattle Seahawks pay a license fee to Texas A&M to use the 12th man phrase. From Wikipedia -The 12th man is a term used to describe the fans within a stadium during association football or American football games. Since most football leagues allow a maximum of eleven players per team on the playing field at a time, the term denotes the attempt of a team's fans to help their team. In American football, the term is trademarked by and originated with Texas A&M University in 1922.

Funny, because when I went to the SuperDome this year, they were doing it there. Not sure why inventing an iconic fan interaction is something to be ashamed of....
Because it's stupid? Yeah, that's the reason.

Yes, because the whole "Who Dat" chant the Saints fans do every two seconds is so great  Let's be honest here, no one is saying ANY fan interaction is something profoundly awesome, but if you have been in one of the stadiums famous for it (Kingdome, Husky Stadium) you would understand how unbelievable loud it gets when it is really going. That was the original point. When other fans are copying it around the country, it obvious has something going for it beyond being stupid.

the loudest sports arena i was ever in was the mecca arena back in the day when hulk hogan walked in for a WWF wrestling match probably againt some super tool like leapin lenny poffel but it was so loud i thought the roof was going to collapse metrodome style
