What are you guys doing different with your phones now that you jailbroke them?

I only tried once and something went awry so I had to restore my whole phone. Haven't tried since.

Some new ones I haven't tried

DashboardX - Makes your phone more like Android with widgets. This also looks very likely implement on IOS6. Long time coming.

BiteSMS - This actually has some advantages for IOS5, but not worth the money anymore on IOS5 IMO

there are also a ####load of Siri tweaks. I think Siri is a poorly formed POS, but maybe someone has made something of it in Cydia. I hear AssistantExtentions is good, but I haven't tried it.

There are also a ton of tweaks to change things like the color of the bubbles, clear the bubbles, change what shows up on top line all that crap.

Just curious, is there any way for your carrier to know that you are tethering via jailbreak?

Quasar for iPad is a MUST HAVE. The ability to have multiple windows is fantastic. This is flat out awesome.

Grid Tab for Safari and Tab+ in Cydia used together will allow unlimited open windows as well. With these tweaks u can have 9 windows open per screen on iPhone

Left my iPhone in a cab this weekend and he and his family are a #### (did not return it, thus far).

What's worse, is I had just bought the thing. I was waiting for the i5 but broke my screen on the i4 and decided to take the plunge. Now what? Am I stuck buying a $650 ####### phone??? I did not have insurance, obviously.

My only thought is to buy a used 4 on ebay or craigslist...until the i5 comes out. I wasn't even using siri or whatever...this sucks.

Did you set up the "Find iPhone?" It allows you to lock the iPhone remotely, as well as erase it. Maybe if you can prove where it is, you can talk to the company he works for, and they could force him to return it. Just a hopeful!!

Anyone else seeing this bug with the latest jailbreak? I can't put a pattern on when it's happening yet, but the keyboard from the 'search iPhone' is sticking and block out aps, the home screen etc. This is a major pia. I'm going to reinstall my backup to the stock 5.1.1.

Many, but not all. They took a direct shot at LockInfo, and got most of it included but not all. You can still use lockinfo or tweak the notifier to make it more Lockinfo like. Lockinfo seems to have quit doing dev work and now most of the cool kids have moved onto intelliscreenx. I used Notifier about 2 days and said f-this and went back to Lockinfo for the front screen and let notifier handle the back end.

To each his own. If I had never modded my phone, I probably would have thought it was perfectly fine as it was. But now, if you took away sbsettings, I would be frustrated as hell with it. In my experience, jailbreaking is only slightly more time consuming than updating the phone's iOS. Really, the only downside I've encountered at all is the fact that I need to wait a bit before updating when new ones come out. That decision is almost always really easy since there are usually such minimal advantages to updating. And there's a cydia app to take away that annoying "1" alert that used to show on my Settings app icon (letting me know there's an update), so that's not even an annoyance anymore.

I'm not sure I understand the love for SBSettings? Are you really messing around with your settings that much? I almost never touch mine. The only reason I could see for Jailbreaking is to take advantage of tethering.

Why is this so? I'm one 4.1 and love bite sms.

For IOS4 it was essential. One of the main, if not the sole, bonus feature of IOS5 was imessage which incorporated nearly all of BiteSMS backend.

Did you call the cab company?

I did. We called a number of them. "We' being the front desk at my hotel. One company said they wouldn't know what came into their lost n' found over the weekend until Tuesday morning. I will call them soon, probly my last hope.The phone was left at 9:30 PM. It didn't go straight to voicemail until the next afternoon -- not sure if if it got turned off or the battery went out. I sent texts to it offering rewards and stuff but never heard back.Also worth noting was that it was left in the front seat so I doubt another passenger got it...pretty sure the driver did, that ##########.

Well, they can blacklist your SIM and on the off chance some ####### tries to use it and brings it into a store for service they will get it back. Unless someone is using it to commit a crime I don't think they will track it to a location. It can't hurt to ask, I mean if the guy leaves the phone in the cab lot overnight you might be able to figure out what cab co. it is at least.ETA: I mean with the sim blacklisted on the off chance someone takes it to an apple store to find the owner they will find you quicker as well.

I tell 'em I w'll meet back at the hotel after I buy a case for my phone and jump out. (they don't have an apple store on Kauai, btw, and like I said, I just bought this phone. Also, I never used protectors on my other phones and that did not work out so well -- shattered face, scratched camera lens, etc). So as said, I flagged the cab (no way of knowing the company). Anyway, that $30 bumper is gonna end up costing 650 ####### dollars. Actually, it's not that funny.

That's the thing, it was a private car -- a Lexus SUV of all things -- doubt he leaves it in their lot. It had the cab light on the roof and a meter running, fwiw. You would think it being a Lexus and knowing the color (gold) also, would narrow it down...a LOT. I'm surprised they couldn't figure it out. I'm not surprised they weren't more help.

Well, things got a little interesting tonight. My phone was used to make a call. Somehow, the guy must've got through my password lock. But now I have the number he called and I can use it against him, hopefully. Not sure how I'll go about this, yet. I know I'll call from a restricted number, of course, and go from there.

Glad I didn't call Verizon earlier to turn the phone off, I think. I called them tonight to finally do so, but coincidentally it was after the guy made the phone call. After the Vz call, I logged into my account and noticed a call had been made. One thing Verizon told me is how I could call the police and they could call Verizon on my behalf and get some sort of location information on the phone. Not sure how that would work out...

My initial thoughts are to tell some of the cab companies about information I have, in hopes of them being more proactive. I feel like they could find the guy pretty easily if they wanted to -- that car is too unique for a cabbie. I could tell them things like the hotel also has his license plate number on tape and that I am going to get the cops involved and stuff. And that all I want is the phone returned instead. Might work.

Not that I'd actually go to some of these lengths, but it could be enough for the cab company, or person he called, to force him to give it back. I had a very similar situation to this before...and this type of thing worked in getting my phone back.

The phone can ping from that call to triangulate a position. Obviously knowing the number rather who is on the other line will help identify possibilities. Should have gone to the cops right away with an odd story like the cabbie took your phone, rather than you just leaving it in the cab.

Well, they can blacklist your SIM and on the off chance some ####### tries to use it and brings it into a store for service they will get it back. Unless someone is using it to commit a crime I don't think they will track it to a location. It can't hurt to ask, I mean if the guy leaves the phone in the cab lot overnight you might be able to figure out what cab co. it is at least.ETA: I mean with the sim blacklisted on the off chance someone takes it to an apple store to find the owner they will find you quicker as well.

That's the thing, it was a private car -- a Lexus SUV of all things -- doubt he leaves it in their lot. It had the cab light on the roof and a meter running, fwiw. You would think it being a Lexus and knowing the color (gold) also, would narrow it down...a LOT. I'm surprised they couldn't figure it out. I'm not surprised they weren't more help.

So I called the cab company and talked to this chick in lost n' found. She seemed pretty sharp actually, and was way more helpful than others we dealt with over the weekend. While on the phone, she identified 3 silver Lexus SUVs that could be him. I basically told her I just wanted the phone back, period, but that if it wasn't returned then I would continue with other measures or whatever. I went on to say that the fact it had now been "broken into" and that my personal info was available made this a bigger deal now. I was nice as I could be, considering, so that she didn't turn on me or make things hard. We'll see...

If that gets me nowhere, then I'm going to call the number the thief called last night and try to convince them to tell him to cough it up and why. If they aren't having it, I'll send a text saying we are getting his license plate and stuff. If he and his family are a real **** then I'll probly call and text 100 times. Bottom line, just trying to get a message across to this thief that it would be best to just return the phone at this point... even if I don't follow through with the rest of this #### (which I won't).

Well, I was wrong about that chick being helpful. She wouldn't pick up or call me back. i made 4 calls. I finally called a 5th time from a restricted line and she of course, picked up. Said she sent a message to the 3 silver Lexus owners/drivers about the phone but did not hear back from any of them. Hmmm...

So I went to plan B and called the number that was on my bill. Some guy picked up. In English. I began to explain that he got a call on Tuesday evening at 6 from my stolen phone. Then he didn't speak English. I went on explaining the situation in more detail while he just listened. Every time I'd stop, he'd say, in an accent, "I don't know". I told him I knew he spoke English and understood exactly what was going on. I repeated that if the phone wasn't returned to the hotel by tomorrow, the cops would be involved. I said we had his friend's license plate number and other info. I finally hung up. It was weird that he never clicked it on me, just kept listening.

Oh, he did say something early on about being on a landline, for some reason. His English was indeed broken and the more I am thinking about this, the more I think that the guy called his own phone first (from mine), after figuring out my password. It was only a 1 minute call and he was probly testing it. There were no other calls after that. I remember trying to talk to him in the cab and he did the exact same thing. Acted like he couldn't speak ANY English.

Wow, I think I have his number now. Wonder what I should do. Maybe I'll honor him with a Friday FFA call-in show.

My wife and nieces love those cases.Im like why would I want a case that makes a phone impossible to carry in my pocket?Works for her having the purse and she is pretty rough on phones though.Kids use it alot so it gives a bit of piece of mind. Though, they use my phone all the time with no case at all and have not screwed it up yet.
