The Apple iPhone Thread (4 Viewers)

I am currently on an unlimited data family plan with my wife and BIL. I heard that they will be getting rid of the unlimited data plans soon, but those that are already on the unlimited will be able to stay on it as long as they leave their account as is...Any truth to this?
Yes if you want to keep it you can
Thanks for confirming... I wonder what the new plans are going to look like. If they start charging per kB, that is going to get ugly.
$15 for 200 MB $15 for each 200MB block (as soon as you go over the limit you buy 200 MB for $15)$25 for 2 GB - $10 for each additional 1 GB (as soon as you go over you buy 1GB for $10)
Guesstimation of how much would i need to use my data access to run up 200 MB? An hour a day for the month? Two? (Newbie to this whole smartphone business, sorry)

Oh, and I got a chance to play with an Incredible today and I have to admit, it's a pretty sick phone.

Completely rips off the iPhone but does it MUCH better than the Moto or HTC Droid phones.

Not quite good enough to make me want to switch, but it's definitely a solid non-AT&T competitor to the iPhone.

You know that Incredible is made by HTC and is a droid phone, right? EVO is also a HTC phone...fyi.

Question for the techies about selling my old iPhone... I'm going to auction off my current 3gs 16gb, before I ship it out to the buyer, I was told to remove my sim card, as contains all my info. Is this necessary and will the phone be rendered useless to the buyer? Any info appreciated.

The phone will be fine. THey will just put their sim card in. You definitely want to keep your sim.

But you need to delete all your apps and contacts etc., right?I have some banking and billing apps on there. Can a new user gain access to my information if there isn't something similar to a hard drive wipe done?I'm starting to consider selling the 16gb 3Gs I have for one of these if it really is possible to pay for the iPhone4 with the proceeds.

My Mrs. is planning to do exactly that. Seems like it should be a wash, or even at least close to a wash, so it's totally worth it.

unless iPhone 5 is miles ahead of this one and is available on verizon next year and I'm locked into AT&T and AT&T doesn't allow the early upgrade like they are allowing this year.

I was going to back up my current phone in iTunes to save all my apps, then do a factory restore from iTunes to clear out all apps on the phone to sell. I thought it was ok to sell it this way but thankfully was warned to take out my sim card as well before I sold it. But backing up then doing a restore from itunes will solve your question. (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)Right now our 3gs 16gb are going for 250-300 on ebay, I'm wondering if the price will drop considerably after June 24th. But like Otis said, even if I can get close to 200 for it, it's all but a wash and we get new phones.

Question:I'm going to get the iPhone 4. As I can't hear music (so no music library on it), should I get the 16 GB? I do plan on taking videos with it, so will the 16GB be enough? Or should I go ahead and get the 32GB? I'll be using it to show clients logos/graphics when I don't want to lug my laptop around.
Hi MacArtist, I think the 16GB will suite your needs well. Good luck!

Not eligible for an upgrade until March 2011

Main feature I'm looking forward to is Netflix. Will that run on a 3gs after we get the iOS 4 upgrade?

One, thank you! One more question...with all the new features, will it take up more memory on the phone than in the past? I'm wondering too if getting the 32 GB will be better when it comes time to sell it? This will be my first iPhone. I really want it because of the FaceChat, which will make it easier for communicate with people. Right now, I'm pretty much limited to texting.
Yes, with the higher res video and photos it will. You pose another good point too, resale value is about $100 more as well so maybe that's the way to go so you'll be safe for space. Just boils down to spending the extra $100 next week. I know I am. :)

Just remember that if you're using 200 MB/month today you'll likely be using 2 GB/month (or more) a year or two from now.

I don't get it? The thing sold out everywhere, they should have manufactured more at the release. The phone has been incredibly well received, anyone who has used both an iPhone and EVO knows which is the better phone. The EVO just crushes the current iPhone in a ridiculously unfair way, it's almost embarrassing that some people will try to convince you otherwise (like moderated who clearly has never seen an EVO since he regurgitates the phrase "pixelated")The EVO is a better phone than the iPhone. No contest.

Has this thing killed the iPhone yet or what?CardTrader: Yes it is CRUSHING the iPhone that was released 3 years ago!!! AhahahahHAHAHa!!!

Oh. So you mean it's better than the old iphone?

CardTrader: YESSSS!!! (CERTIFICATES!) YESSS!

Um. Ok. What about the iPhone that's going on sale within a few weeks of the Evo? Shouldn't we compare Apples and, well, Apples?

CardTrader: :lmao:

Is there a reason they had to lie about the Evo sales numbers? They sold 65,000 or so? Apple sales dwarf that. Is that why they lied?

CardTrader: :lmao:

Oh or is it because Apple consumers are morons and buy lesser products?

CardTrader: YESSSSCERTIFICATECYTOKINESTORM+iPHONEKILLAHHH!!!!11111

Mmmhm.

WTF are you talking about? Yes, it's better than the iPhone that's going on sale in a few weeks....Apple spent it's entire dev conference describing their new phone which was basically a mirror image of the EVO but with a smaller screen. Apple will always sell more phones than any individual phone. It certainly doesn't make it better, is that a hard concept for your pea-brain to grasp? And yes, many Apple consumers are morons and buy lesser products.

:lmao: Ooooooook.

The new iphone will likely blow the fuzzy monster known as the EVO away. Not even a fair fight. I have only used the evo and not the new iPhone yet but if it can't beat that Gordon gecko sized phone then I'll never post again.

Sprint is doing backflips right now, they couldn't have timed the EVO release better.
So what time can we pre order this thing? I've been hearing mixed reports.
I signed up to get an email from AT&T once they open up for pre-orders.
Pre-orders start tomorrow.
12:01am? 4am? 9am???? When EXACTLY?!? "Tomorrow" isn't good enough One, we need to know the minute it goes live. This is iPhone4 dammit!!!!!
AT&T says:4am EST1am PST ;)

EVO sold out almost everywhere. HTH
As did the iPhone 3Gs. What's your point?Backflips

:lmao:
:) You are fun One. :football:
