The Apple iPhone Thread (3 Viewers)

Working for me. Kick ###!LOOK AT ME! I'M MULTITASKING!!
Apparently I need to jailbreak my iPod touch 2G.
I have a 1st Gen iPhone so I assume multi-tasking is right out. But does anyone know if ill still be able to use folders? That's the feature I'm really looking forward too with my 8 pages of apps, 95% of which I've only used once ;)

iOS4 is compatible with iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4.

Just got my tracking # from Fed Ex. It says my phone will be delivered on June 23 by 10:30 AM.
Fo realz??
That's what it says. It started out in China, went to Hong Kong, and is now in transit to Alaska. Delivery date says June 23 by 10:30 AM.
If I recall previous launches correctly, FedEx may hold your shipment for delivery on 6/24. Ipads were at FedEx ready to go a couple days before the official launch date. Apple literally sent their reps to FedEx distro centers to make sure all of the Ipads were locked down and not shipped early. Here's to you getting it early tho :)

Do you have a 3G or 3Gs? Only the 3Gs can "multitask".
I have an iPod touch. No multitasking?
Only available on 3rd generation.
I hate all this fragmentation. Seems I have a touch that will be ok upgrade and one that won't. My brothers family has two that will not get the same features as his newest iPhone.Does this mean we will have to pay separate for multi-tasking apps versus standard apps? How does this work?

What are the other hardware upgrades the iPhone 4 is coming with that make simply upgrading the OS not enough of an upgrade? Video conferencing, better screen, more Ram. ANything else of signficance?

Bigger battery. Encased in it's antenna so stronger signal. Video display much better. Better camera and flash. Front facing camera. Two microphones which will help with background noise.

THanks. I was just trying to get the general gist as to whether the new version of "awesome" was primarily the software or the hardware. I think that the stronger signal will definitley make a better experience for users new and old. The battery will likely even out as it's needed to run the more advanced harware. The 2 mics will be a nice addition.

I start Pandora, double click to bring up the multi tasking bar at the bottom, and then click on Safari (or Camera) and it instantly shuts off Pandora. What am I doing wrong?

I won't be able to get my hands on one of these until my fanboy buddy gets his, so does someone mind telling me how the "multitasking" has been implemented?? TIA.

this thing has been "backing up" my phone for the better part of an hour. well maybe 15 minutes, but the progress bar isnt moving. come on man!!! :michaelirvin:

it had to update itunes first - fine

it then wanted to do a sync - fine

it then wanted to do a back up - fine

then it crashed on loading the new OS. Now Im stuck in purgatory. Only option now is a "restore". Each time I try the restore I get mostly through it then an error

"the ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occured (37).

The only reference I can find to this error is a usb issue. tried different ports and cables with the same result.

How can I at least get this back to where I was before attempting this disaster?

Very un-APple like (seriously). Sorry GB.

Guys, you should back up your phones a little more often, or at least prior to a major download/install, it might solve these new install problems. I backed up my phone last night and the os install took 20 minutes this afternoon.

I backed up before I went for the update, it went fast.I got the update, and it still decides I need a backup, but it's much slower.I can't backup any further.
