It's not a glitch, if the phones share an apple ID they will get each others texts, apps, etc. You have to change options on the phones. My friends wife all of a sudden started getting our group text where we were talking disgusting. I can only imagine how embarrassed kids are going to be when all their texts go to their parents phones if they share an Apple ID, which many families do.Anyone else sharing 2 phones on 1 Apple ID? When I add a VIP on one phone it automatically shows up on the other. I hope this is a glitch that they fix, because if not, it's a completely ridiculous feature.
Ok, we'll that's a bit annoying. What do I need to change? I doubt that with my wife or I want to get bogged down with each others work texts. It's not a glitch, if the phones share an apple ID they will get each others texts, apps, etc. You have to change options on the phones. My friends wife all of a sudden started getting our group text where we were talking disgusting. I'm not even sure, i know there are threads on the apple boards and other forums. it didn't affect me directly so was not trying to figure out how to fix it.only reason i looked is one of my friends informed me his wife read our text string since ios6 came out.Ok, we'll that's a bit annoying. Had my 4S since it came out with no screen protector and not a scratch on it. Used a thin case to protect the rest. But I'm not too hard on my phones. As someone who is about to be a first time i-phone owner, what are the must haves in terms of accessories, protective equipment for this sucker? Do I have to have some kind of screen protector? Some kind of shell? Can I get away with just using it as is or will I regret that? Sorry, I'm clueless. Thanks.
No.Also, does it matter if i buy it from Apple (with a contract from the carrier) or buy it directly from the carrier?
Nevermind - she got it. Nothing special but I told her, "don't f'n ask me where I'm at from now on - you can find where I'm at any time you want"How many of you :tinfoil: guys won't install/use the app?Upgraded to iOS - anyone using the Find Friends app? I tried sending a request to my wife but she never got it.
MobileIron by a longshot. Good works well if your users are moving over to the iPhone from BlackBerries, but if they're iPhone users, they will despise enterprise email being broken out into a separate app rather than integrated with the standard iPhone apps.McAfee EMM isn't a bad solution if your company has an existing relationship with McAfee.Fanboys> What is the best enterprise product for iPhone? MobileIron? Zenprise? Good for Enterprise? Others?
Part of the reason is obvious: Jobs isn't there anymore. It is rare that a company is so completely an extension of one man's brain as Apple was an extension of Jobs. While he was alive, that was a strength; now it's a weakness. Apple's current executive team is no doubt trying to maintain the same demanding, innovative culture, but it's just not the same without the man himself looking over everybody's shoulder. If the map glitch tells us anything, it is that.
But there is also a less obvious — yet possibly more important — reason that Apple's best days may soon be behind it. When Jobs returned to the company in 1997, after 12 years in exile, Apple was in deep trouble. It could afford to take big risks and, indeed, to search for a new business model, because it had nothing to lose.
Fifteen years later, Apple has a hugely profitable business model to defend — and a lot to lose. Companies change when that happens. "The business model becomes a gilded cage, and management won't do anything to challenge it, while doing everything they can to protect it," says Larry Keeley, an innovation strategist at Doblin, a consulting firm.

Even before Jobs died, Apple was becoming a company whose main goal was to defend its business model. Yes, he would never have allowed his minions to ship such an embarrassing application (Apple Maps). But despite his genius, it is unlikely he could have kept Apple from eventually lapsing into the ordinary. It is the nature of capitalism that big companies become defensive, while newer rivals emerge with better, smarter ideas.
It all depends on your own usage. I use my phone a lot during the day so I switched over to a battery case, like phonesuit or mophie. Before that I was using an ottorbox because of working in construction and being around dirt and dust all day. Lifeproof is also another great case for complete protection. I would love to not cover it with anything, but I've broken screens before, and would rather not do that again. The Mrs bought me an invisible shield by zagg which is just a cover for the front glass. I was reluctant to put it on, but you can't even tell that it's there. So far so good on that. It also helps to protect it for future resale value. Any nicks or scratches will affect that down the road. And Just be sure you get "Apple approved" accessories. Don't be fooled by the real cheap things you may find on the Internet. The chargers and cords work for a week then stop, and it may affect your phone as well.As someone who is about to be a first time i-phone owner, what are the must haves in terms of accessories, protective equipment for this sucker? looks like they just have the 4 modelAnyone used this? Thinking about combining my phone and wallet.
The 5 isn't out yet. Just curious to see if anyone used an older version. I'll probably get it when it is available.looks like they just have the 4 modelAnyone used this? Thinking about combining my phone and wallet.

I use earphones all the time and these are more comfortable and sound better than the previous version.I'm no audiophile so I can't speak to how they compare to other headphones out there...but they're better than previous generations in quality and comfort.Any thoughts on the new headphones. I'm not a big fan of ear buds because for some reason they either make my ears hurt after a while or they fall out. Would be interested in seeing if these are any better
There's one from long ago.Wasn't sure if this was the right thread, is there an Apple stock thread?
Has Apple Peaked?
Time to short Apple?

Had a similar experience the other day with my 4S. I was trying it just to see how it was working. I ended up ignoring the route.Used maps twice today for directions and both times the proposed route was horrible. Wish I could go back to iOS 5. In general, I still like Apple products and they do things right more often than wrong, but this is a step backwards. Not life changing, but still frustrating
Not to defend Apple here, but the Google maps ap would take me some pretty crazy routes at times too. I'm sure this is horrible (still on my 4), but Google maps for iPhone was just ok, not greatHad a similar experience the other day with my 4S. I was trying it just to see how it was working. Google usually knew if I was on the highway. The new apple maps did not. Not saying I tested it 100x - but it is frustrating when the first two times you use it, it sucks. Not to defend Apple here, but the Google maps ap would take me some pretty crazy routes at times too. I had been using the Mapquest free app for turn by turn directions. Wasn't always perfect, but it was better than what Apple Maps was trying to do with my route. Not to defend Apple here, but the Google maps ap would take me some pretty crazy routes at times too. Thanks iHucks2.'adonis said:I used maps today to find a place way out in the country and it worked very well. Haven't had an issue, yet, with it.Also, I don't forget issues I had with google maps years ago. Went to a wedding out in the country and typed in a church name. An hour and a half later, after being taken to the middle of a small town with no one around, I showed up at the wedding late.Didn't happen terribly often, but I always took 2 opinions on locations for things - google maps and TomTom. Most of the time, google maps was more accurate.
This is the point. Why start over and be years behind? Work out a freaking deal with Google to get the full Google Maps on iPhone as the default maps app. No reason to reinvent something that is not ripe for being disrupted.'adonis said:I used maps today to find a place way out in the country and it worked very well. I answered the question earlier of "why do this".Apple and Google are in direct competition in the mobile space. The data going through maps is VERY valuable. Apple should have switched years ago but were under contract. Contracts up, Apple is ready to get started, their map service has a ways to go to be as good as google maps, and they're willing to give it a shot. Why should apple continue to fund Google's company, where the funding and profits go towards development of a competing OS?'Maelstrom said:This is the point. Why start over and be years behind? Apple has funded Microsoft for years making sure that Microsoft Office apps work on iOS. If they feel a product is superior then they go with that. This goes back to a grudge that Jobs had with Larry Page and Google. They are cutting off their noses to spite their face.I answered the question earlier of "why do this".Apple and Google are in direct competition in the mobile space. In other words, there is a VERY good reason for Apple to reinvent something even if it's not 100% ready. Again, sure there are some issues, but on the whole, I've had few problems and I'd bet most people have had good experiences with it too, with a few odd results or missing results in there.
A reasonable gripe would be that they should've been gathering better data for the past few years, but honestly I don't know how possible that is, considering they bought data from TomTom, and it's a big wide world. Over the next bits of time, the product will improve and the hypersensitive among us will stop complaining about this.
This was covered on The Office alreadyDo I get to sue Apple because their Maps app sent me into a lake? Just wondering since I have been drying my car out for the last two days. Not cool, Apple. Not cool.
Yup...it's about spending money where you should spend money, and not where you shouldn't. Microsoft saved Apple with an investment when they were about to collapse, despite the competition. I completely disagree with Adonis assessment of this. It is a mistake, plain and simple, for Apple to roll it out in this state. It takes away from their glamor and makes them look vulnerable. That is not good because a lot of Apple's success is based on them being the glamorous company and being able to charge more because of it. Apple can not afford to have that taken away.Apple has funded Microsoft for years making sure that Microsoft Office apps work on iOS. If they feel a product is superior then they go with that. While I think it was a mistake, I also am looking forward to seeing the competition push Google to continue to improve their maps as well. It should also lead to them keeping the prices down, as they have started to edge up in recent years.I like apple maps.![]()
We used it to get to the Ravens game last night and it worked just fine. I liked the turn by turn and how it interfaced with the map. The swiping to the next step was cool too. What's up with the circle that highlights up ahead on each turn by turn?I like apple maps.![]()
