The Apple iPhone Thread (3 Viewers)

Anyone with an AppleTV can watch the Event there. I believe it will still be available later today after the event is over.

:lmao: at requiring safari to watch the live stream on apple.com.

Almost makes me want to switch just for that.

If you're going to do a live stream, you should probably make sure that the live streaming works. And I'm trying to stream on an apple product even. It's interrupted and started me over at the beginning about 4 times now. Currently on the intro screen. Brutal.

ApplePay = NFC + TouchID + Passbook App

Your CC# is never stored nor shared with the merchant? Interesting.

"Apple doesn't know price or purchases"

Remotely manage/suspect device purchasing power.

"Apple’s new payments system called Apple Pay will store credit cards but not store their numbers. Instead you’ve got a device-specific account number. Apple emphasizes that you don’t have to cancel your card if the merchant gets breached, which is topical."

All these target / Home Depot hacks are no longer an issue, presumably?

Pretty bold to roll this out amidst the icloud hack.

Until Apple gets hacked for the information. ETA: And this is Apple putting the first real bullseye on them as a legit source of valuable information.

HUGE list of partnered retailers.

Online purchases become one touch affairs with partnered sites as well.

Partnered with open table to use Apple pay to cover Restaurant checks... very nice. No more waiting around for a slow server to bring it.

Why the heck are they sticking with a freaking 16GB version? Why not start at 32GB? That is really annoying. I was hoping like when they jumped from 8 to 16 that they would jump to 32. I don't need 64, but I don't want 16. Ugh, guess free money for Apple, although this definitely means I will be sticking with the phone longer and not upgrading after this one. I waited to switch to the cheaper AT&T plan since I have upgrades pending.

Is this new payment dealo they are making such a big deal out of going to be available to anything "under" a 6?

Market isn't liking it.
"Sell the news" is to be expected with so much advance hype and is generally what happens (initially) on their launches.
Yeah, but usually when things are to be expected they get priced in. It's pretty remarkable how consistent this has been, although now it looks like today may be different.
