Somebody told me last night that due to the Blackberry Storm not being so great that the iPhone is going to be available on Verizon in 6 months. Anybody else hear or read that anywhere?
oof, storm getting bashed all over.
My 2 coworkers just returned their BB Storms today at lunch. Quite frankly, I don't blame them.
The local Verizon team gave one to my boss. First thing the next morning, he gave it back and told them to bring him a Curve instead.

 tell them to pickup an HTC Fuze from AT&T
I want to see it too, but I don't know anybody with a Fuze yet.
That's a good thing, everyone has an iPhone. Just because it has a z, u and e in the name and is 4 characters, do not confuse it with a Zune.

I love my iphone and AT&T so far but I have to give props to Tmobile. Was with them for 10+ years and no complaints until I couldn't get reception in the coaches office. Even then they worked with me for awhile trying to fix it.

Anyway, so I am paying the final bill and it is $400+ cuz we still had a year left on one of our phones. Talking to a rep just to make sure everything is right and she waives $250 of the bill (the early cancellation fee) just because.

Found my first insanely good and indispensable app today, Wolfgang's Vault for FREE under music! Hundreds of concerts archieved from the Bill Graham collection, covering the 60's until at least the 80's. Wolfgang's vault online is a great site as is, but this as a free app, sweet jesus this is too much! And you can even just play by track and it says you can create playlists or listen to wolfgang's radio, which I'm gathering will be random cuts from this phenomenal archive!

This is too much, totally worth this phone!

Mine came with a microfiber cloth to wipe it down. Don't they still do that?
yes, I just can't think of a good way to carry it around with the phone where it'll stay clean and fresh. plus, i'm one of those cold sweaty hand types and would feel just as wrong getting the microfiber cloth dirty.

I'll be getting protectors and cases for my phone and my sons.
Get a hard plastic case .I've dropped my phone between 10-20 times so far with zero damage.
Do you have a link to what you bought or something similar? You can't touch through plastic, right?
screen is open to touchThis is the case I bought . I didn't think it would do a good job but the guy at the apple store had one on his phone so I gave it a try

The screen is EXTREMELY durable. I'm on my 2nd iPhone without a case and have yet to have a scratch on the front. The only place I get scratches is the back side.

Stress test

I installed the OrbLive App on my iPhone and have the orb app running on my PC at home. I have been listening to music from my PC at home and looking at photos. This app is pretty sweet. I haven't had a chance to install the TV tuner on my PC yet, but it looks like it will work on my phone just like music or pics. At times the service is a little choppy, but not bad. I am really looking forward to seeing live television on it. You can also hook up webcams and select internet radio sites as well (those that you cannot get through AOL or others I assume). If the live television works, I am no longer interested in buying a slingbox unless my choice of channels is limited in OrbLive and Verizon Fios. I will post again when I am set up with the TV tuner. I highly recommend the trial version first. It does a random sample for each of the media folders and it's free.
Update:I am running OrbLive on my iPhone and my PC at home and it works great. I have access to all my Fios channels via TV tuner, all music, videos, DVR recordings, and webcams (just one of my dog), plus all the digital music Fios has (not that they are that great, but they are available). The only thing I cannot do is access on demand ( I can see it, but I cannot interact with it). I am not sure Slingbox can do that either. I could be wrong about this. If anyone has any questions about specifics for the iPhone or otherwise (works with all PCs and phones with web capability), PM me.

Is it worth getting the 3G now and signing a new 2 year deal or is there another iteration of the iPhone due out within 6 months?
If it actually comes out in the next 6 months, then you might want to wait. I am not too sure about that. I heard a while back they were going to come out with a nano phone or something like that next? I haven't heard anything recently about it.

I didnt mean to insinuate that a new phone WAS coming out in 6 months. I was just inquiring about when the next one is rumored and if it was 6 months or so, is the current 3G worth getting now anyway. I'm not sure how long I want to wait on getting a new phone. My Verizon contract expired at the end of November.

I believe the big Apple trade show is in January - any announcements would be made at that time. Rumors flying about a 32G 3G Iphone to be released a fw months after - if that doesn't interest you may as well buy now IMO but you never know. I am waiting until the Mac show.

just a heads up... the last iPhone didn't come for another month or two after the announcement.I sold my G1 (thanks Adonis  ) a few weeks before the announcement and ended up having to wait a while for the 3G.

I wish I could have bought an iPhone with less memory now that I don't really have a lot of use for it. 4gb would have been perfect and half the cost.
Rumors have WalMart selling iPhones starting in December, with a $99 4GB version in addition to the 8GB and 16GB models. Not confirmed yet, of course.

looks like I might be waiting then. I dont even have an iPod, but a 32gig iPhone would serve that fine as well, so long as the battery is improved, no?

Work just bought me a Samsung Epix and I went into an ATT store to buy an additional charger and joking asked the guy if I could trade it for an iPhone. He said yes as long as I have the original box. :goodposting:

So tell me about the essentials.

battery life

phone quality

Exchange integration?

right now my Epix will not alert me when I have new email if it's in sleep mode. will the iPhone do a better job of notifying me?

does the WiFi and 3G fight with eachother? will it default to WiFi if it's available?

So tell me about the essentials.

battery life - Good, I can get almost a day and a half out of it.

phone quality - Good, My city is well-covered by ATT, but it sounds like coverage varies from city to city.

Exchange integration? - Don't know.

right now my Epix will not alert me when I have new email if it's in sleep mode. will the iPhone do a better job of notifying me? - Much better. Always on, never really sleeps.

does the WiFi and 3G fight with eachother? - Nope. Just goes to whichever is greater.

will it default to WiFi if it's available? Yep.

A stupid question I'm sure but, I'm assuming I would need to activate the at&t phone plan in order to use the camera, wifi, apps, etc correct?

Also what if you were to buy a used one could you essentially use it as an Ipod touch or would you need the phone plan?

I believe there are ways to use it with full function (minus cell-phone) without activating with AT&T.

Tap Defense is like crack. It's the #1 free Ap right now for a reason.
The 1337pwn xbox live friendlist application is pretty sweet as well. I agree that this is far and away the best game though, especially if you've never played a Tower Defense game.

Please describe Tap Defense for those of us who do not understand how it works.
There is a little path, and these guys come out (think lemings). You have to build towers to drain there energy before they make it to the end. You get money, and can research new towers. It's pretty addicting.

Just took my iPhone into the Apple Store since I had a speck of some kind inside my screen. Some SUPER CUTE girl named Monica helped me out.

Monica: :) Looks like you have something inside the screen, is your iPhone backed up? If so, let me exchange yours for a new one.

Me:  Uh yeah, just last night.

Monica: :) K, Great. Be right back.

Me:

She gave me a brand new iPhone within 5 minutes. Either I'm too incredibly handsome to turn down or Apple's iPhone replacement policy is AWESOME.

I agree with smashu, you missed a a chance to score.

So today I'll be going out to buy my 2 iphones, I just need to decide where to buy it. Is it the same apple coverage if I buy them at the Att store, Best buy or the apple store? I'm buying 2 iphones and a regular phone for the wife so I'm not sure how much of a pain in the ### it would be to buy them at the mac store.

It's all the same. Apple never asks you where you bought it.
