The Audible LIVE! 9/1/2011 - 10pm ET 2hours of greatness (1 Viewer)

Yes! Thursday edition! Let's rock n' roll!

In Chicago - how does Roy vs Johnny look? It seems that the consensus FootballGuys' viewpoint is that Roy takes a backseat. I tend to believe it will take Roy a little while to get acquainted with Cutler and get back in shape. Maybe a good guy to target in early trades for peanuts.

Also - Mark Clayton back with the Rams. Seems like this guy will help a few teams make a playoff push later in the year. He had good chemistry with Bradford last year and I think he's a steal if he's fully healed.

Can you shed some clarity to the RB situation in Indy. Was Delone Carter brought in this year to eat into Addai's numbers or is that more of a move reflecting what the colts think of Donald Brown.

What do you expect to see out of Addai this year - Wildman is high on him I know that.

Hey fellas, Can't wait until NEXT Thursday, when it all begins to count. In the meantime, thanks for passing the time with your knowledge.

First, can you discuss the Green Bay backfield with expectations for week 1? What type of split do you envision between Grant and Starks in week 1, and over the course of the season?

Second, what is the best way to handle backing up Michael Vick? Do you recommend handcuffing with Vince Young, or grabbing a later QB in the mold of a McNabb, Kolb, McCoy, etc.? It would be nice to play in a league where you could do both, but if you only have room for 1 backup QB which direction do you go?

Thank you gentlemen...stay frosty!

Could you discuss the fantasy prospects of these wr's in redraft

Jason Hill

Nate Burleson

Brandon Gibson

Devin Hester

Derrick Mason

I'd like to know if you've ever participated in, or been party to, any draft day shenanigans intended to throw your opponents off course? Anything purposefully deceptive in the course of the draft?

The reason that made me think of it was, in a new league where I didn't know many of the players, I created an elaborate 11x17 draft board for myself, the front side being all the pertinent info I needed and the back (usually facing towards everyone else) just a list of depth charts so I could quickly flip to them if I needed to. On that side I had a blank space with nothing in it so I typed a list entitled "Dynasty Sleeper Picks" in a big font. On that list I included players like

QB: Charlie Whitehurst, Chad Henne, Bruce Gradkowski

RB: Donald Brown, Chester Taylor, Mewelde Moore

WR: Sam Hurd, Roscoe Parrish, Domenik Hixon

No one selected any of them, but I'm curious if anyone has seen any such...er..."gamesmanship"...before.

Thanks boys,

@mondo_tiki_man

Cecil, love what you and Bloom do on the Audible, great stuff!

My question is about Chris Johnson...Now that he's signed the next question my thought turns to his ability to quickly acclimate to the offense. I know they have a new staff but I thought I read somewhere that the staff largely the same offense in tact. Do you know if that's the case? Also, since he hasn't practiced he likely won't be up to game speed and then add the learning curve with his new QB.... do you see these factors affecting his play in the short term? Do you see the Titans reducing his role early on until he gets up to speed or is he unleashed week 1 and doesn't look back?

Thanks for all the insight and keep up the good work!!

hey guys,

Draft strategy. I'm in a "special flex" league where I can flex any one position. It's PaTD = 4pts, RuTD/ReTD = 6 pts, -2 pts INT, and bonus points for all skills positions (i.e. Plus 2pts for: PaTD of 50+ Yds, 300+ PaYd, 150+ ReYd, 150+ RuYd). Should I be treating this as a QB flex league really and grab a QB with my first 2 picks?

I think I should get the best QBs available and target 2 of the top 10 i.e. Rodgers & Stafford. Then later grab a 3QB like McCoy, Newton, or Sanchez ask me about my weiner. :P Any thoughts?

thanks guys! keep on rocking!

How's it going guys? Love the show and thanks for all the information!

I currently have Ryan Grant in a PPR as my 4th RB. Starks is off the board and I'm considering guys like Jacobs, Sproles, Tate, Ward or the NE running back situation...are any of these guys worth the move or should I just roll with Grant>?

What's the future look like for Leshoure? Would you rank Powell or Taiwan Jones ahead of him now for Dynasty?

Greetings Cecil & Bloom,

I waited on my TE this year and ended up with the high upside (if not tums-inducing) duo of Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez of the Patriots. I've been reading Yudkin's projections and I am still left wanting clarification. I play in a PPR league, with flex. I could play both Gronk and Hern if I wanted to, but at the sacrifice of one of my other starters.

I know this situation will change week-to-week. But for the specifically for the matchup against Miami, would you start Gronk or Hernandez? I'd likely have to sit someone like Julio Jones or Cedric Benson to play both. And I'm not comfortable with that. Everything seems to point at Gronk as the play in 0 PPR and Hern is the play in PPR. But just to prime me up for the season, what would you suggest for week #1? Sorry for the WDIS (I won't make it a habit), but I'm still trying to get a clue to the way these guys are going to be used. And it's early.

Thanks! all the best.

J. Goff appears to be a 3 down MLB yet seems to be considered as no better than an LB3.

He appears to be following an ascending trajectory ala Curtis Lofton and assuming more responsibilities within the defense rather than less. Why so undervalued?

Hello Cecil and Bloom..are you ready for some fantasy football!! Can't wait till next Thursday.

Cecil: Are you still down on Moreno? Has he shown anything in the preseason games to change your mind at all? Can he be a decent RB3/flex in a PPR league?

Bloom: Will E. Sanders overcome his foot injuries to be a significant contributor this year? Is he worth a flier/roster spot right now, or leave him on the waiver wire?

Thanks guys..looking forward to the Audible tonight!

Let's hear your take on Beanie Wells. Rankings/projections for both ppr/nonppr. What the Williams injury means, is he done in 2012, will the injury derail his career and implications on Wells future.

Thursday already...

Tell us what 2-3 storylines from the preseason that have got the fantasy community all hyped up but really just mirages to be ignored...

Cecil, what are you hearing about DJ Williams and when he should return. I would like your opinion on Jonathan Goff or Wesley Woodyard as the better fill in for week one and woodyards role and Goff if that wasn't addressed yet.

In today's sigment of the Good, the Bad, and the Injured - what is your take on Foster, Ward, and Tate?

How long is Foster out?

How long does Ward start in front of Tate?

LOVE the series with Sig & Jene takes on the tiers.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Cecil/Bloom - Love the show. Please discuss the following WR's:

Mike Thomas

Jacoby Ford

AJ Green

Julio Jones

"Turbo Lax - 1/2 teaspoon for fast effective relief"

Curious about your thoughts on two rookies:

WR Edmund Gates, MIA

Is he ready to be the deep threat that Miami desperately needs this year?

Also,

TE Julius Thomas, DEN

Is he still ahead of Dante Rosario and the other rookie TE Virgil Green? I know Fells is TE1 there, but he seems like more of a blocker to me. Will Thomas be the Broncos primary receiver at TE this year? Rosario's history with Fox has me leery.

We have a rookie rule in our league where we must start a rookie each week. So I'm looking for rookies that will be productive this year. So I'm looking at these guys from more of a redraft than dynasty perspective.

Thanks.

I'm in a 2-QB league and loaded up at RB/WR while other teams grabbed all the good QB's.

It's a 10-teamer and i got stuck with Flacco, Mcnabb, Hasselbeck, Beck and Whitehurst.Flacco's fine but how about the rest?

Can any of these guys sneak into the top 20 regularly and get me 13-16 pts. a week (i.e. 225, TD/Int). That's all I need w/ Foster, Mendenhall, Best, Jennings, Bryant, S. Johnson.

Thx!

Ive read that Marvin Lewis wants to get Bernard Scott more touches this year. Im guessing Benson will be out of jail by there game, but if Scott looks impressive the first few weeks, is there any chance it could become a timeshare where Scott is getting 10-12 touches a game? I think he would put up decent numbers if Benson was hurt, but Im just wondering if this were to happen if he'd be worth rostering? He's about the only backup RB left in my leagues FA pool.

Mark Clayton's effect on the pecking order for the Rams? Is Gibson still worth rostering or does Mark resume the #1 role from last year prior to injury? I only have so much room on my roster, would you drop Gibson to pick up Clayton?

Hey fellas, love what you're doing and the podcasts certainly keep my commutes interesting and informative.

I'll be playing in a 10-team,start 2 QB league for the first time this season. Starting requirements are 2 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, 1 RB/WR Flex, PK and 6 IDP, with only 5 spots on the bench!

I'd have to assume that in a 12-teamer QB's would be even more of a priority due to supply and demand, but in a 10-teamer how soon to you realistically have to jump on a QB and furthermore how soon do you grab your 2nd QB?

I'm pretty confident in my ability to find mid-round RBs and WRs that out-perform their draft position, so I'm leaning towards grabbing QB's in the first 4 rounds, but I'm not sure if I'm setting myself up for failure.

What are your thoughts on draft strategies for 2 QB leagues?

Thanks!

Thanks guys! Enjoy your thoughts... Please discuss your thoughts on whether Leon Washington is a sleeper in Seattle or whether he will leave a team bare at RB still sleepless in Seattle while in search of a RB in a very deep league.(recommendations welcome as well)

Hi Guys,

I am a long-time avid listener and enjoy the information, debate, and entertainment that you guys provide. Thanks for your great work.

In a 10-team PPR league, in which I hold the 7th pick, we can keep one player each year and we can keep that player indefinitely (for his career if we like), as long as that player was drafted in the 10th round or later in a prior year. In the current draft, we then lose the pick in the round that player was drafted. QBs get 6 points for passing TDs and we start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs (plus TE, K, DEF). I have to choose between keeping Matthew Stafford and Dez Bryant. Matthew Stafford would cost me my 10th round pick and Dez Bryant would cost me my 15th round pick. Last year, in our league, the top 7 QBs were drafted by the end of round 2. Maybe it was a coincidence, but the 3 teams that did not draft a QB in the first 2 rounds finished as the bottom 3 teams in the league. I was leaning toward keeping Dez Bryant to ensure that I have at least one strong WR and then draft a QB in round 2, but Stafford looks like he can be a special player that could possibly play up to the level of the top QBs this year and could be a good keeper in future years. Which way would you go?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Two WR q's

Why can't VJ be the #1 WR this year?

Is Stevie Johnson's value remaining low because of his QB? Double teams? No running game? All of the above? I'm thinking he's due to be top 10, but I feel lonely with those thoughts

Thanks

Cecil and Sigmund, a player that hasn't been talked about much this preseason is Brandon Marshall. Before last year he was generally considered a very high end option at WR, falling just outside of the true "elite" tier in the league. Last year he wound up in a pitiful offense and its been reported his surgically repaired hip was still bothering him. What have your writers seen from him in this preseason? He's been from the mid 20's at WR to just outside the top 10. Do we expect a bounce back season from him? I have him as a WR3 in ppr format, and I'm happy with that, but I'd be more comfortable knowing that his upside still exists. I've also heard reports that he is working at developing a rapport with chad henne. Is 90/1200/7-9TDs out of the question?

Using all the FBG info I can get my hands on to gain a Competitive Edge-

A few thoughts and musings for you....

So, Manny Sanders is back to practice this week for 'em Stillers.....and I'm of the mind that when healthy he's the more advanced WR between he and Antonio Brown. Brown has certainly seemed to have taken a step or two forward, but to me it still looks like he's only running three routes(and primarily just the 9). By midseason, is Sanders back to his "Steeler WR to own for '12 and beyond" if he remains healthy?

Houston RBs mess: If you're only able to put down chips on one number in the "Foster may be hurt worse than they're letting on" roulette wheel which way you leaning? Tate or Ward?

I got stuck w/ the 12 in a 12- team ppr league. Who would you look at at the bang- bang assuming the good stuff is gone- Rodgers, Vick, Peterson, Rice, Charles, Foster, McCoy, Ch. Johnson, A. Johnson?

From a group that could include Brady, Rivers, MJD, McFadden, Mendenhall, Calvin and Nicks, where would you go?

Thx.

Hey Cec and Sigmund,

Could you please give us your take on CAR MLB Jon Beason's outlook for the coming season? Is that Achilles' injury going to be an all-year-long thing along the lines of what we watch his teammate Jonathan Stewart struggle with? Should we be rushing out to sign Dan Connor in IDP leagues (perhaps just as a short-term play for September, or maybe longer?).

ONE WEEK TO REAL FOOTBALL! Woooo Hoooo!

To piggy back on this - assuming Kubiak sticks to what he's said and Ward "starts" - what are you thoughts on the breakdown of carries? Are either of them even startable, or does the presence of one negate the other?

Hey guys.

I am solid I think at TE with J. Graham and J. Cook

but Kendricks is available... Should I drop Cook for Kendricks?

the other option would be dropping D. Moore but I don't want to do that.

when is the next audible? is there a schedule? sorry if this is info most know, i haven't been a regular listener but plan on starting!
