The Baltimore Ravens 5-1 but... (1 Viewer)

I know we have to wait and see but they were already down Suggs, now Webb, maybe Lewis for rest of year. I do think the offense will be even better the rest of the way because for once Baltimore has to score 30 points to win some of these games. They are 5-1, I can see them going 5-5 the rest of the way, maybe 6-4, win the division because the rest of it is also in shambles is seems. But thinking they will get to the Super Bowl or go deep into the playoffs, hard for me to overlook the defense which has been far from lights out anyways.

I would bump up Boldin and for those that need WR depth, I can see him having to post higher numbers now in the passing game. Also would be interested in the WR3 on this team if there is an injury at the WR1/WR2 spot. Also you could say that they need to run the ball even more to keep the defense rested. Bernard Pierce could see a lot more action, can only give Rice so many touches.

Thoughts?

Just a few things to consider....

Suggs could be practicing this week, and may be back after their bye week in week 9.

Rice isn't in the top 10 of carries in the NFL right now, he could see more work. He has 50+ fewer carries than Foster right now.

Flacco will be a top 10 fantasy QB this year.

I'm not feeling too good anymore about my Ravens DST. Very disappointing. From a ASYS play to a matchup defense. Maybe only a couple more good starts left in weeks 9 (Browns) and 10 (Raiders), and then I'll be strongly considering dumping for a rent-a-defense strategy. And the 5-1 start looks like it will be a mirage. Cowboys owned them all day and found a way to shoot themselves in the foot like they always seem to do. Ravens are pretenders.

The Ravens may be pretenders but they are finding ways to win and playing in a division that appears to be very weak this season.

The Raven's D is definitely in trouble with all of the key injuries. It used to be that you couldn't run on them, but that isn't even true anymore. Not sure what is going on with Ngata/Cody.

The AFC is going to come down to the survival of the fittest, which is probably the case most years. The top teams that can avoid the injury bug, and are the healthiest come playoff time, will be battling it out for a superbowl berth, where they will promptly loose to the Giants.

I just saw on ESPN.COM that Lewis is out for the year.

THEY CAN'T STOP THE RUN.....they will be lucky to make it to playoffs. Teams are going to game plan for this weakness and suck the life out of the Ravens.

Flacco is going to be involve in a lot more shootouts moving forward that's for sure. Ravens defense was already in the decline before Webb and Lewis were lost. Now they will be a bottom half defense.

Ngata going to play with a torn MCL...can't imagine any team playing without 3-4 of their best players on either side of the ball and remaining competitive. If this is the end of the road for Ray Lewis, it's been a fun ride.

Without Webb and Lewis, I wouldn't feel to confident starting the Ravens D/ST either unless it's against a team with a bad QB. Their defense was already mediocre with Lewis and Webb playing. Webb is a very good corner and Lewis is the leader of that defense, their defense will be a liability from here on out and Flacco will likely have to carry this team in order to win games.

I don't necessarily agree that this is "the end".

Ray Ray is in his 13th season. This team played without him for a season as recently as two years ago. Ellerbe is in his 4th year and I think he is ready.

And most teams have more than 2 good CBs. Most have at least 3. Smith should be able to fill.

I am not ready to completely jump ship yet.

I am ready to bump up Ravens WRs though. Ravens are going to have to try to jump on top of opponents early to make it easier for the defense.
