The Bears beat the Packers in week 4 at Soldier Field. This was before the bears o-line turn around following their week 9 bye. Since the bye, the Bears have improved tremendously. Their pass game has improved along with the run game. Matt Forte is averaging over 4.5 ypc since the bye, Cutler is throwing 2 td's for every 1 int, special teams is the best in the league and their defense has been stellar all season.

Week 17, the Packers, in Lambeau, facing a win-and-in scenario, essentially a playoff game, barely get by a Chicago Bears team that had absolutely nothing to play for. The Bears went in with a vanilla game plan and still only gave up 10 points to the Packers. The Bears averaged 5.5 ypc but only ran the ball 20 times, compared to 45 pass plays. Anyone who watched that game remembers the constant pressure Cutler was under. The Bears know they can run on GB, so they used the last game of the season as an opportunity to see everything GB would throw at them on the defensive side of the ball. The Packers, treating the game as a playoff game were forced to expose exactly how they would attack the Bears.

Aaron Rodgers put up great numbers against Atlanta on Saturday but the Bears are a better defense than Atl and Rodgers won't have the added benefit of playing indoors in ideal conditions. Along with the strategic advantage the Bears have due to the week 17 game, the Bears have home field advantage, a super healthy team and confidence going into this game. If it's snowing hard the Bears might be screwed.

Bears win 24-17

The one flaw in your argument is that GB absolutely dominated that game. They moved the ball against the Bears at will. I don't know how you can hold that game against GB no matter how well the Bears have "improved" since.

With nothing to play for they decided to play all their starters? A more likely scenario is that they were hoping to eliminate GB from the playoffs with a win, so that they wouldn't have to face the best team in the NFL in their quest for a Superbowl.

More excuses...they used it to see what GB could throw at them? Are their coaches that dumb that they risked their QB's health in what you say was meaningless? BSThey wanted to keep the Packers out. Because I don't think they wanted to see them again.

I'm a huge Packer fan and agree with the poster. Call it a bad feeling, but I think the Bears on that field will beat the Packers on Sunday. Bears have magic dust on them this year.

And you mention the Bears D held GB to 10.

GB's D held the Bears to 3 in week 17...and held them to 13 (Hester had the punt return) in week 3.

:goodposting: It's one of the most telling clues about this game.

The Bears won early in the season because the Packers committed 18 penalties. It really is that simple. And that won't happen again. Heck, half the players that played in that game for the Packers are on IR now.

In any close game in the NFL there are a ton of plays, injuries and other factors that could easily have gone the other way and changed the outcome. For the game at Lambeau for example I recall several terrible drops by the Packers - particularly one each by Jennings, Jones and Jackson and an easy interception dropped by Bishop. There were some freak plays that went the other way as well I'm sure, such as the play where the Bears had a first down play called back because someone on the Bears sideline called a timeout. The teams seem to be pretty closely matched, but I like the Packers. Chicago's home field probably makes it a wash. Will be a great one I think.

Green Bay has improved too, especially Shields and Tramon Williams. .

One member of the Bears told Driver Green Bay was too hot and they wanted to knock them out of the playoffs.

yep, it's called strategy. Since this idea is so foreign to you, you may want to check out this story: 17-0

Constant holds on Peppers were either going to be sacks or penalties... GB decided to take the penalties.

So, is this the ***OFFICIAL*** Shark Pool jinx thread for the week, or should I wait? I only ask because these things have an uncanny knack of backfiring and I need to know whether or not the Pack is the play here. TIA

Bears win 24-17

You have nothing to play for yet you keep in your franchise qb the whole game, in which he gets absolutley hammered, including six sacks? That means at least one of the following:

1. Lovie is the stupidist coach in the NFL for putting his post season at risk by endangering his qb

2. Lovie hates Cutler so he left him in to get the crap kicked out of him

3. Cutler "threw" the game with a sub 45% qb rating like a pool player attempting to sucker a bigger bet on the next game.

4. Cutler is not the Bears franchise qb so Lovie doesnt care if he is knocked out

5. The Bears actually did want to win the game, and your attempts to defend how the Packers def. smacked the Bears offense, is, well, pathetic
