The Belichick Saga (1 Viewer)

No, basically that he is guilty of some pretty egregious resume padding.
Torre called him Dwight Schrute.

Craig Walsh--Bill's son--really laid into him. Lombardi claims that he was the one who "found" Charles Haley, and that he was the one who came up with the concept of trading high round picks for multiple lower round picks and letting his "genius" scouting skills find the hidden gems.

In Oakland, Lombardi wanted Bobby Petrino to become the new head coach, but Al Davis hired Art Shell. Lombardi then spent the year undermining and backstabbing Shell.

There was an inflammatory accusation about tampering that I had never heard before. Lombardi traded Randy Moss to NE for a pitiful 4th round draft pick. Al Davis claimed that Lombardi told him that Moss couldn't run anymore and that they should take what they could get for him. Davis claimed that Lombardi told Belichick quite the opposite and that he should jump at the chance to get Moss.

Lombardi strongly denies that accusation.

Belichick fired Lombardi in 2016 and he has been unable to find a job anywhere in the league since that time. Torre called him "unemployable."

Good summary. Re the bolded, apparently just about every other notable Patriots coach demanded Lombardi's firing.

Lombardi was fired before the 16-17 season started and so wasn't employed by the team at all during that year. After they won a super bowl, Belichick bought him a cheap version of the SB ring. Lombardi now cites the fact that he was "part" of that super bowl team in all his marketing materials.
