Loved his Prince remembrance with Klosterman where he wondered if Prince knew who Bill Simmons was.
I gave it a try. Awful. You can tell he kind of fancies himself as the charming raconteur.Craig Kilborn pod is the most bizarre thing ever.
He was either hopped up on cocaine or smoked a ton of weed beforehand.
What a trainwreck
Impossible to listen to. I tried.Listening to this Kilborn podcast now.
Hahahahaha......Good grief. What a mess.
I like Key & Peele and Simmons. I thought the pod was awful. Not funny at all, and super pretentious.I loved the Key & Peele podcast.
I wanted to like it, but I couldnt make it through more than 20 mins or so.Listening to this Kilborn podcast now.

actually kind of refreshing hearing Bill be the second most narcissistic guy on the pod for once.
Yes, here's another opportunity for Simmons to be #2 on the narcissism scale. This should get you there.Does francesca stream his show? Anyone have a link?
oh hell yes.Yes, here's another opportunity for Simmons to be #2 on the narcissism scale. This should get you there.

i honestly had no clue who he was.Wasn't that Kilborn's schtick? It was always a "I'm so cool" deal.
When people aren't in on it, it's not going to come off well. Going to have to listen ...maybe he has just gone off the deep end.
I think he's gone off the deep end. I enjoyed him on SC and starting up the Daily Show but still thought he was unlistenable on the pod.Wasn't that Kilborn's schtick? It was always a "I'm so cool" deal.

That's because you are like 17.i honestly had no clue who he was.
It was perilously close to Rome-esque.Hbo promo...yeesh.
I'm hoping it goes as well as Joe Buck Live didThat HBO show won't make it to year 3. Who is going to watch that? He couldn't even get ratings on ESPN where he had a huge built-in audience.
I'm curious how "After the Thrones" is doing. The guys are already on Simmons' payroll so the extra costs have to be pretty minimal. But it seems crazy that they're trying to do an aftershow that isn't immediately following the show, and they eventually air it on the east coast at like 1AM a full day later. Maybe they're using it more as a test for the format. That HBO show won't make it to year 3. Who is going to watch that? He couldn't even get ratings on ESPN where he had a huge built-in audience.
Coming up in hour 3: Mike reminisces about the crazy night he helped bury Jimmy Hoffa.
they haven't stopped talking about the 80s and 90s yet. It's cheap content for the streaming service. My guess is you'll start to see more of that sort of thing (and that's more of an industry point than Simmons'-centric)I'm curious how "After the Thrones" is doing. mike talking too much.. i can't take it anymorethey haven't stopped talking about the 80s and 90s yet.
I will say, the lack of commercials is as impressive as it is exhausting.
Yeah I get that, I would just think one way to actually drive viewers to it would be to flash a card before the "next week" promo saying to tune to HBO2 for "After the Thrones" or "recap is now available on HBO Go/Now" immediately. It's cheap content for the streaming service. Holy Christ Mike loves Trump, there's a shocker.mike talking too much.. i can't take it anymore

I liked a lot of the Grantland writing, and quite a few of the 30-for-30's. I'd say that's more of a strength, for him, than even his written stuff.jurrassic said:Don't think Anything Given Wednesday will last. Simmons just doesn't come off as that likable on television. His real value to HBO will be in future development. He was the brain child behind 30 for 30 and has been pretty consistent in developing new podcast concepts.
