The Bill Simmons Podcast (2 Viewers)

when Sal said about Simmons daughter "hasn't started talking about wrestling yet"

:lmao:
Sal making Bill genuinely uncomfortable is my favorite part of the podcast.  Well, that and when he makes fun of Bill and Bill is too engrossed in himself to realize he's being made fun of.

Man his 10 ways to make the NFL more fun he wrote on the ringer on friday was absolutely brutal.  I usually enjoy his writing but that was straight up DeMarcus Cousins fan fiction levels of bad.

Gotta be some kind of "entertaining as hell tournament" right? I mean it's right there in the name.

Bill dropping some baseball knowledge on us today. "i think you have to manage in the playoffs differently than you do in the regular season"

*bill swears 3 times in 30 seconds*

sal: "i don't think we're supposed to swear during the sponsored segment"

bill: "it's fine"

tate: "too much captain morgan"

:lmao:

I could do without anyone ever reading off a schedule again.  Whether it's to count wins and losses (cut it out - everything's somewhere between a 40% and 60% win) or to tell us how hard/easy the upcoming schedule is, it's just a bunch of words that are impossible to process at the speed they're presented.  Their next 6 games are Panthers Bucs Saints Lions Bears Vikings - look at those front 7s!  I... let's see... Panthers have good LBs and DEs, Bucs have... next topic starts.

He's such a bad parent. "Hey, lets expose them to traumatic movies when they're pre-teens so they'll get desensitized early! Worked for me!"

You don’t need to start watching South Park when you are 5 years old to “have a sense of humor”.

I put Guess the Lines on, it's not even at 10 minutes, and I have already wanted to throw my phone at the wall at least three times. He said win expectancy is a cute stat that tells you whether a game is exciting, but he doesn't need it to know that a game is exciting?

No chance. He's too big to take a radio gig. And he'd have to move to NY.
Maybe not so much radio per se, but just in general being the clueless, washed-up "sports guy" with outdated opinions who probably doesn't watch much sports anymore.

This might've been the last straw for me: https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2017/11/3/16602312/blake-bortles-name-week-9-picks-mailbag-bill-simmons

I didn't notice that his gambling pick was a massive (relative to how much he was betting ML) bet on a chalk favorite to try to get back to even, and it lost (SEA -340). Ha ha.

I still enjoy his articles and podcast    ALthough I only listen to the Pick the Lines and his rewatchables

What movies is he showing his kids now?
Last week he was talking about showing one of those raunchy "girls night out" movies to his 12-year-old daughter ("Girls Trip" or "Rough Night", something like that) and then realizing halfway through the movie that it featured a fairly explicit discussion of a sexual act.

This week he was talking about watching the MMA fights in his living room while his 10-year-old son's birthday party was going on in the next room. "A couple of the kids came into the room and started watching with me. My wife was concerned but I said 'Come on, these kids are 10! They've already been to the darkest corners of the internet!'"

Corrupting the entire neighborhood! The other parents must be thrilled...

To be fair, I've let my 9 year old watch UFC with me, but he really has little interest in it.  I mean I watched boxing with my dad when I was a kid, do I need to call CPS on myself here?

Why is **** Shiner listed as a Steeler but wearing a Browns jersey on his card?

Yeah saw it on Wikipedia.  Still funny that they wouldn't bother getting a new photo.

"#### it.  People will be too busy laughing about his name to notice the uni doesn't match."
Baseball cards used to manually retouch the caps of traded players, sometimes with notorious results.

I guess Topps couldn't find a head shot of **** Shiner.

ETA:  can't believe that last sentence made it past the language filter.

PSA - Dan Patrick starts at 25:30. You’ll want to skip Bill’s Celtics monologue.
just skip the whole thing

was looking forward to listening.. and pretty much zoned out a few minutes in.  not sure how many times Simmons circled back to talking about the Celtics but it was too many.

and both of them are the guy who never got over their ex even though she stomped balls on her way out.

So I really like Simmons/Sal podcast but this stuff drives me nuts

Tenn feeling good...really? They just lost by 23 points

Baltimore defense has played great 3 shutouts (which is all true) plus they already destroyed Pittsburgh. ( Uh no guys they lost 27 - 9)

I get you're doing stuff on the fly and I don't care about wrong word choice etc but that stuff is basic facts

And pretty sure he said 45 degree winds twice

He's more knowledgeable than 99% of NFL fans, guy.

If it bugs you so much......STOP LISTENING.

Obviously, if you’re complaining then you’re listening. Why?
it was said that the majority of listeners to Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern were people who, when surveyed, said they hated both the man and the show.. but they listened anyways because they wanted to see what stupid #### he would say next.

I also didn't understand hate listening to a podcast until I found the Ringer's college basketball podcast. That's one awful, awful podcast but I can't stop listening to it. It's so terrible that it's almost good.

With Titus and the kid? I think it's ok.

Like most people, I like some of simmons' pods and dislike others. Thus, you comment on them. Not a terribly difficult thing to understand.

Someone better than me please confirm Sal's stat.

I don't want to make fun of it. I want to be sure it's true because it's incredible.

Ben Roethlisberger has the most wins in Cleveland stadium of any quarterback and that includes Browns QBs

Since they returned to the NFL and the (now) First Energy stadium opened its doors in 1999 :

QB wins

Roethlisberger - 11

Derek Anderson - 10

Tim Couch - 9

There's your top 3.

I love anytime he unironically refers to his young producer and the others as millennials.

I can't believe you doubted the authenticity of that.
