With multiple discussions about head-hunting, concussions, getting ride of the kick return, and all the other ways to make the NFL safer do you think getting ride of the running game would be a step in the right direction?

I am just thinking about:

Less line-man

Weight Restriction on the line

Only 1 person allowed in the backfield

Leading your WR into a hit would be a fineable offense against the QB

I know it way out there but with wanting to get ride of the kick-return it only makes sense to limit the size of the players and tyring to eliminate the big collisions at the line.

just make a it professional 3 flies up.

Everything goes in cycles, the running game dominants then the defenses dominant and now the pass game dominants. Everyone seems to forget their are defensive players, and coaches that still make big money that don't like letting offenses score at will, even with the new rules in place they will find a way to catch up and a new era will begin until someone finds a way around that.

I don't think the changes will be that dramatic. Tweaks are more likely IMO. For example, instead of the kickoff use punts after scores and to begin the game and second half. It would essentially eliminate the running 30 yd.start of kick coverage teams and help to minimize the frequency of high impact of collisions at full speed. You would still have the return as an important feature of the game but tweaked in a way to acknowledge the dangers of high impact collisions. Whatever they do it will remain a dangerous sport.
