The Great Courses (1 Viewer)

I recently got myself an audible books subscription through my kindle.(love this thing by the way) and with that I get a free download monthly. This has lead me first to the Modern Scholar series, in which I enjoyed a great dinosaur lecture and a pretty good ecology lecture. I then decided I wAnted to see if I could find something else and that led me to The Great Courses and I just finished Big History, which was a whopping 24 hours, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I am now trying to think of what to listen to next. So far I am leaning forward The Joy of Science, because it seems to cover a lot of stuff and science as a whole interests me a lot. Unfortunately, it is a fairly old lecture and the info is thus dated in some areas. I am also thinking about the History of Ancient Egypt, because that is cool to me as well. Only complaint on this one is the lecturer is too proud of himself (which probably will not bother me). It is very likely I will eventually listen to both, but which one now is the question.

I have also tried to find another lecture series, but have not. If there are any recommendations I would appreciate them.

Now sort of leaning to toward...the other side of history a look at the daily life of the average man throughout ancient history. After a bit more research I decided that the joy of science is just a bit too outdated, but if it

Gets updated I will get it most likely.

Has anyone else ever listened to any of the great courses lectures? If so what did you listen to and what did you think?

I have

Meterology: Intro to the Wonders of Weather

Oceanography: Exploring Earths Final Wilderness

Watching: Seeing and Understanding Cosmic Wonders

Everyday Guide to Wine

They also have the wine courses centralized on California, France, and Italy. There is also Everyday Guide to Spirits and Cocktail: Taste and tradition

They have about five or six on Everyday Gourmet that look very good

The TV show was fantastic and I didn't know this existed. Will check it out.

The top 3 interest me ( I was an aerographer's mate in the navy) but, unfortunately they are not available through my audible account.

There are some gourmet ones and I agree they do look good, either that I am just hung Gary when I see them.

Some of these look pretty expensive - several hundred dollars for some of the literature series. I've been looking through the free courses available through Itunes U and at Coursera.org - would be interested in how the Modern Scholar series compares.

Darn auto correct, but accurately done of course.
