The Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Thread (1 Viewer)

“Ivanka is supposed to be an advocate for women” but has ended up being as helpful to women “as an empty box of tampons.”

Jared Kushner scores first major bipartisan deal for Trump in Congress

by Paul Bedard

 | May 10, 2018 12:17 PM

An effort led by senior White House adviser Jared Kushner to both increase prison security and provide a pathway out for some 4,000 well-behaved prisoners has scored a major, and lopsided, victory, the first major bipartisan deal for the Trump White House.

The House Judiciary Committee voted 25-5 to back the “First Step Act,” a shocking turn after the media had earlier written off chances that it would pass.

A busy schedule for Ivanka & Jared the next few days

On Monday, about 700 people are expected to gather in Jerusalem’s upscale Arnona neighborhood to celebrate the relocation of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv, a controversial move intended to recognize the holy city as Israel’s rightful capital. Donald Trump will not be in attendance for the ribbon cutting, though the event will have his personal imprimatur. Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, the president’s son-in-law and eldest daughter, will be part of the U.S. delegation, along with U.S. ambassador David Friedman, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and special representative for international negotiations Jason Greenblatt. The group will leave on a State Department plane Saturday, attend a reception hosted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, and return to Washington in time for work on Tuesday.

"As we have seen from the protests of the last month and even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem and not part of the solution,"

Do not report on Kushner in the Middle East without mentioning his family's West Bank settlement investments, his family's long-time ties to Netanyahu, and his many infractions as an amorphous "advisor", ranging from lying on security forms to the probable sale of state secrets

The crisis in the Palestinian territories is above all a humanitarian crisis, one in which innocents, including children, are massacred. But it is also a cesspool of corruption. Examine the money trail, and get Kushner out of the White House.

Wow!! Jared Kushner’s controversial comment about Gaza during Embassy opening saying “as we have seen from the protests of the last month & even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem & not part of the solution” was omitted from official White House transcript!

Well, this administration will deny he said it because it's not in the official transcript. Now history will (hopefully) forget it was ever said.

The media has done many good things in terms of exposing Trump's corruption. Unfortunately, it continues to fail at some of the most basic things. She's correct that all of this needs to be included to provide accurate context.

In China, like in Russia, billionaires have very good chance of ending in prison (or dead) and their wealth confiscated by the state.
No, they have a very slim chance of ending up in prison or their wealth confiscated.

The odds just happen to be more than zero because there is limited due process.

CNN:

Kushner met with Mueller’s investigators for a second time and answered questions for seven hours, according to his attorney: He had previously sat for an interview last November that was largely focused on former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Trump can grant security clearances through "exceptions" even when a person cannot pass and I would imagine that is what happened here.
Mr. Kushner’s clearances were approved by career officials after the completion of the F.B.I. background check, and the president was not involved in the process...

Considering the public record on Kushner's activities and the very substantial questions raised, it is hard to understand how the government justified this decision.

Many of us know former colleagues who lost their security clearance because they fell behind on student loans--or ran into other seemingly minor issues. It's hard to square this decision with that reality unless there was a lower bar for Kushner

I'm wondering if Mueller decided to give Kushner clearance, which in essence is the beginning thread of a rope with which Kushner will hang himself. You know - because its Stupid Watergate and Kushner will believe he's in the clear to be himself.

I have nothing to do with Russia.  To the best of my knowledge, no person that I deal with does.

Looks like Kush had his security clearance approved.

On to the next conspiracy!

eta: I see you already are. Mueller is laying a trap. Trump approved it himself.

Trump approved it, which could hardly mean that Mueller is laying a trap.

IVANKA TRUMP’S BUSINESS WINS APPROVAL FOR MORE CHINA TRADEMARKS

By Caroline Zhang
May 25, 2018

On May 7, 2018, Ivanka Trump’s business received “registration” approval from the Chinese government for five trademark applications. An additional trademark also received “first trial” approval on May 6. The trademarks, which were applied for in March of 2017, give Ivanka’s business trademark rights on goods including bath mats, textiles, and baby blankets.

This isn’t the first time that Ivanka’s and President Trump’s business connections to China have raised potential ethics issues. The same week Ivanka’s business received registration approval, President Trump announced that he would work to save jobs at the Chinese telecommunications company ZTE. About 72 hours before his announcement, the Chinese government also agreed to loan $500 million to a project in Indonesia in which the Trump Organization is a partner.

Four of the other trademarks Ivanka’s business applied for in March 2017 have received “first trial” approval, and one other received “registration” approval in March. Ivanka Trump Marks LLC already holds more than a dozen trademarks in the country as well as multiple pending applications. China is also a major supplier of Ivanka Trump-branded merchandise

As a White House adviser, Ivanka has represented the United States at multiple diplomatic events despite the potential conflicts her business interests present. Although Ivanka has stepped down from her role at her business and has placed it in a trust, she continues to receive profits from the business.

Last year, Ivanka’s business won preliminary approval for three trademarks on the same day that she dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago. Earlier this year, Trump announced tariffs against China that exempted clothing — including clothing imports from Ivanka’s Chinese manufacturers.

Despite these potential conflicts, Ivanka continues to play a prominent foreign policy role. She and her husband Jared Kushner were recently part of the U.S. delegation to Jerusalem. The Trump administration is also currently in trade negotiations with China.

How is letting a mope like Jared Kushner have security clearance a good thing for the country? The guy represents everything turd-like there is about rich kids and privilege, in that he has no qualifications to represent the U.S. government on any issue of expertise. Couple that with the fact he wasn't elected to any office, and he should be representing us why exactly?

That doesn't bother me as much as Congress turning a blind eye to our own IC. I think his base would consider caring if our Congress demonstrated that our constitution came before any party agenda.
Trump's base is the minority. People continue to forget that.

Congress is the problem. They've always been the problem. So much of what Trump does and wants to do would be curtailed if the GOPs in Congress cared more about our country than staying in power.
