I'll be honest- I never understood the allure of "troll". I'm going be an ####### to say or do something mean for laughs...look at me, I'm an #######. But I'm just pretending...I'm not really an ####### so don't call me on it- I just say and do things that #######s do and say. Hilarious.

Agreed. And there's a separate but connected part of that in some people seem unable to accept someone could have a legitimate different opinion. Not everyone who disagrees is a "troll". The lack of empathy and inability to allow others a view point without denigrating them fascinates me as well.

saddens me, tbh. 

agreed though- we've (society) moved further and further into territory where people are incapable of respecting an opposing or even differnt opinion, simply because it varies from their own that has become locked into their very existence for some reason.

I hear you. I think I have a different reaction though than sadness. The lack of empathy and ability to see another angle is more unfortunate I think. The person who doesn't extend empathy is the one that's missing out. 

This could probably be it's own thread as I do think it's important. 

On the other hand, I see empathy increasing in lots of places in society. We as society are more accepting than ever it seems of folks who are different than us. There's certainly some empathy in play there. 

So it's interesting.

I saw this thread in the Popular threads on the side bar when I came into the forums this morning.  I thought it was the FFA thread so I ventured to see the new replies.  I realized it was the PSF when I started reading but decided to read anyway.  I now understand why Joe and the other moderators get tired of all the BS.  I felt dirty just reading the one thread, I couldn't imagine hanging out there all the time.
