The logo on the Falcons' helmet is an F (1 Viewer)

If you look at the white parts in the Syracuse logo it looks like an upside-down scoop on top and a rightside-up scoop on the bottom or "two scoops". A tip of the cap to Kellogg's Raisin Bran.

More sports marketing fun facts:

The Panthers logo consists of the head of a black snarling panther outlined in blue. It is shaped to resemble the combined borders of North and South Carolina

The Expos logo formed a big M (Montreal) with a little e in red (Expos) and a blue b on the right (baseball)

the panthers thing is cool, the expos one is ######ed and uncreative. "what should our logo be?" "dunno...how's about we make a big M and jam a lil e and b into it?" "a 'b'?? what for?" "uh...baseball, silly!" "oh damn...that's genius"

It was actually for Expos de Montréal Baseball. Makes a little more sense that way.

Good question. I'd actually never noticed it until this thread inspired me to look closely at my team's logo.

yeah, it's my team as well. at first i was thinking that you were joking, and that it was the brains that were missing between the horns.damn though dude...you and the OP's daughter may be geniuses.

In the 1980's, the Montreal Expo's farm team were the Denver Bears...

Expo Logo

The M in the Expo logo is made out of a D and a B.

The Bears may actually have been the best minor league team ever to tell you the truth.

Very cool!

Another one, football related because they sponsor a stadium, that was recently pointed out to me was the FedEx logo. Fed Ex

spoiler:

Arrow between the E and X
Now thats all I see when the truck drives by. Weird!

Took a manager class one time in perception (or something like that) and they asked the class about this. I have always seen the X in Fed-Ex. Don't know why but it sticks out to me.

I think the two of our explanaions are right...lots of thought in that one.

Look closely at what's missing between the horns on the Houston Texans logo.

Franchise jinx?

maybe I'm dense, maybe stating the obvious, but to me it looks like a thought bubble with nothing in it... Most excellent thread btw. Thoroughly enjoyed all the examples.

Now for my contribution. This should be miami's logo.. (Supposedly it's a sexuality test... children see dolphins... adults.. well.. we're perverts.)

Props to the OP. I have a 3 year old that amazes me daily.

The Newark Bears yes. Denver Bears no.Okay This Link Says They Were #3, but I'll dispute that.

Since that doesn't really do anything on the logo front, I'll also offer up the fact that this list had one of the funniest team names I've ever come across:

The Wichita Jobbers?!? That Jobbers team was 4 behind the 1980 Denver Bears, btw.

Okay I guess I should be at least a little on topic, so I'll add this bit. The "H" in the logo for the Montreal Canadiens stands for Hockey. The "C" stands for Club. "Club de Hockey Canadien"

Habs Logo

Brilliant catch by your daughter, postie, as I never noticed that.

This thread reminds me of the times I spent with old Land O' Lakes butter cartons and a small pair of scissors. (Apologies in advance to the Puritan crowd).

On a more appropriate note, the Montreal Canadiens are pretty overt about the "H" in the middle of their logo, which stands for Les Habitants.

F'n Habs. <-- wears Toronto colors

If you look at it sideways, it is an "h" and an "f" the initials of the legendary Hawkeye coach Hayden Frye. Its discrete, but it is there.
Born and raised a Hawkeye fan, and i've never heard about the H and the F, I don't see it, but i believe you.
Don't see that at all. I knew the others but not this one.
I don't see it either...

the panthers thing is cool
Someone explain the Panthers one to me. I don't see any resemblance to the shape of the two states, http://geology.com/state-map/

Flip south carolina horizontally.

The orange arrow indicates that Amazon has "everything from a to z" and it also represents the smile brought to the customer's face.

The SUN Microsystems logo is a wonderful example of symmetry and order. The letters u and n while arranged adjacent to each other create the letter S in a perpendicular direction, spelling out "sun" on all four sides of the square.

Of coarse i got it. I got it the minute I saw it before it became their official logo. Why else even go to that ugly logo from what was a much better Falcon on the old helmets unless it was for some cute reason like making an F out of the darn Bird? By the way Falclowns new uni's have always looked like they belong in the AFL in my opinion.

OK, it was explained to me by an old roomate who was an Iowa Hawkeye, so maybe he was full of ####, but I can see it. First it is kinda angled to the right, so imagine it tilted about 25 degrees counter clockwise. The left two yellow peices make up the lower case " h ". The bottom yellow peice and the beak make up the lower case " f ". Does that help? Why else would they make such a weird looking "hawkeye"?
