The McNabb rollercoaster (1 Viewer)

After last week, I thought he had turned things around. Watching tonight, I am not so sure. I am sure missing westbrook hurts him slightly, but he looks terrible.

McNabb seems to be that guy that can win or lose your games each week.

Who knows, maybe some halftime adjustments will help, But I am thinking this will be a long season for McNabb owners.

Agree...disagree?

Although I thought the same thing after last week and plugged him in this week(wish I would of went with Culpepper now or even D Anderson) you can't totally blame it on him he is getting absolutely no protection.

I completely concur regarding McNabb. He doesn't seem to be an every-week starter anymore. I'd start him based on matchups. His receiving corps is similar to Minnesota in that there's no one that stands out. He has a lot of no-names and a really good RB. He's also aging and his body has been subjected to many horribly injuries over the years. I'd wait until he has another good game and try to move him.

As for last week...it was against Detroit. You can't really consider blowing up against Detroit as turning things around. That is like the Tampa Bay Devil Rays beating up a college team in spring training and spouting about how they will win the division.

He barely has time to even drop back tonight...not sure I'm willing to blame what's happened so far on him. Hopefully his line will remember how to block in the second half!

Hurts him SLIGHTY? You are talking about one of the top 2-3 playmakers in the NFL and the best receiving back... can't think of many that are better in their prime.Missing westy is huge imo, and it shows.

is it just my observation or does he seem to throw a lot of passes into the ground, more than other QBs

so now add the fact that westy has injury issues as another reason to drop his valueBut Buckhalter has looked good night

Ol is disgraceful so far for Philly - McNabb is not making plays when he has a chance but that hasnt been much! Thought he would light it up tonight -

The Giants Defense is simply owning him. I haven't seen the Giants D look this good since last season. I'm really surprised. Losing Westbrook definitely hurt them, though.

Philly OL should not get a ride home - not McNabbs fault tonight!
im starting to agree with you...I think Andy Reid has lost it...there have been no adjustments...not to get too off topic, but how long is (LT) thomas out for?

The left tackle is HORRIBBLE!!! Wouldn't a good coaching move to double team Umenyiora with a TE or back?

McNabb give the Giants D a TD... so I think he should take a little blame. And the TD that got called back BECAUSE HE WAS OVER THE LINE..................EEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR from the Reggie Brown owner.

Not a good night but that was the worst job of pass protection I have ever seen. Also, McNabb really relies on Westy to be his outlet and he misses him big time. Finally, no LJ Smith also hurts as I think he can block better than the TEs they have in there as well as get open better. I also agree though that Mcnabb has very little mobility and if he were fully healthy he would be running more under the pressure.

Honestly, from watching this one we learned:

- Pay attention to the D-line of Philly's opponent

- McNabb really needs Westy as a threat to keep defenses honest

- The Philly rookie left tackle is NOT good

That's all I learned. McNabb will have good games, but 11 sacks is inSANE. He had very little time back there.

11 is insane but the Giants got 12 sacks tonite.

Stop making excuses for McNabb. The fact is that McNabb has lost his mobilty in the pocket. He has no vision. His WR's are really really bad. The only thing that McNabb can do is throw the deep pass. If his WR's don't get k

open deep McNabb isn't going to nickel and dime any team (Detroit included).

He just can't be counted on anymore. He has played 4 games this year and he has downright sucked in 3 of them. YUCK!

I agree that he has lost some of his mobility, but I still don't think his performance tonite is his fault. There was ZERO protection tonite. 12 sacks is huge, and we aren't talking coverage sacks forced by the DBs. They were defensive linemen completely dominating the offensive linemen.

Sorry, but I was watching the game tonight and McNabb is still as mobile as 50% of the starting NFL QBs, easy. And that is after the knee brace is one game removed. He was moving ok, had pocket presence. It doesn't matter when the opposing team is in your grill in less than 3.5 secs. IMO you're oversimplifying a ton. His WRs aren't THAT bad. He throws plenty of solid SHORT passes to Westbrook normally. McNabb is fine *if* he has Westbrook and a different left tackle, PERIOD.

How about we return to earth and once again admit that McNabb has always been overated. I knew everyone was on his jock after last week saying "I told you so".

I knew it was definitely a premature celebration but I wasn't prepared for how bad he looked. I agree that it's NOT 100% McNabb's fault. The protection wasn't there and the fat walrus didn't make any adjustment to improve protection. McNabb was moving ok but some of the passes he threw were plain awful. I won't bash him too much for going over the line of scrimmage when they had that TD called back but...come ON.All in all, a waste of a pick. Much like the rest of my team :)

How has he always been overated?? Are you talking NFL or Fantasy??

As an Eagles' fan, this is one of the most disappointing games I have seen in a long time. They have been dominated twice by two divisional opponents, and their offense has been extremely inconsistent. Why did there seem to be no adjustments against the Giants? After the 7th or 8th sack, why not try some screens or delayed draws to try to relieve the constant pressure? Maybe throw a TE or back to McNabb's left to help out Justice? This performance was just abyssmal; by the players and coaches. Constant penalties, rusty play, lack of intensity, bad coaching...this just doesn't seem like the Eagles team I am used to watching.

Where's the "Westbrook36" dude when you need him? He cherry picks the forum last week when McNabb had a good game but is nowhere to be found the other three weeks. I was willing to ride the McNabb train this year. Fortunately, it worked out that I never had the chance or I'd be suffering like others. I face the music anytime I'm wrong (which is all too often), but it's poor form to not show up and take your lumps.

2 things i seen tonight

horrible game plan ( they should have kept the same game plan they use with westy and use it with buck )

lack of coaching

justice is a rookie basically and was getting burned BAD with no back up protection...same with Celek ( TE )

McNabb..he looked LOST...constantly pump faking, not moving up in the pocket, holding the ball too long. If this happens in week 6 ( after their bye ), something isgoing to change

Mcnabb is done and is now having X-rays. I wouldn't count on him in any way this year in fantasy football. If he continues to be the QB, Eagles are done.

To me he looked more lost due to the fact that he had someone in his face everytime he went back to pass, I've never seen so much pressure in a game before. 12 sacks is huge, I don't think he will be buying his linemen a drink anytime soon.

I didn't watch the game, but just saw the stat line... TWELVE SACKS!? What is going on over there in Philly? Umenyora had 6 all by himself? Were there any adjustments made (putting McNabb in a max protect scheme)? I know BW was out, but still...

Who takes the blame for this: McNabb, the O-line, or Reid? (I guess his WRs could qualify as well...)

I have no idea why, but the Eagles have an abyssmal record in the weeks before a bye under AR...something like 2-7.

Don't give up on this team just yet.

At the end of the day, this is all that matters. McNabb used to be a lock for 250 yards and at least a score every week as his absolute floor. Now that type of performance would be a good week from him. He's fantasy death this year.

I don't understand the coaching for this game. The Eagles refused, to the point of embarassing, to give Winston Justice any help even after it was obvious that he was over-matched. They continually lined up the TE on Runyan's side. I know Runyan's nickname is "Strahan's #####" but at least he would have done a respectable job without any help. Justice got totally abused out there, and when he wasn't giving up another sack, he was false starting. At some point in time, the Eagles coaches should have adjusted and either moved the TE over to block on Justice's side, or slid Herreman's out to tackle and put Jean-Giles in at guard.I can't fault McNabb or anyone else on the offense. Plain and simple, the Eagles lost that game because Winston Justice and the coaches. He got owned and the Eagles coaches did nothing to counteract that.

Wrong. The explanation is that McNabb is simply overrated and I called it. *sarcasm*Well said. Honestly, WTF was Reid thinking?!?

McNabb's hanging onto the ball for five seconds caused many of those sack's, Sarcasm or not Eagles need to get Kolb some game time. Most teams would have had a relief in for McNabb. If Andy Reid would have taken him out of the game, DMcNabb would have thrown a fit. Again McNabb is marginal at best.

I agree that McNabb was holding the ball for way too long, but no one could've QB'd behind that matador line. McNabb was consistently pressured and he had no outlet to throw the ball. When he did get the ball out, NYG's defense did a good job blanketing the WRs. Given decent Oline protection, McNabb plays well. But when he is pressured he loses composure and starts panicing (or at least thats what I saw last night). I don't believe for a second Kolb could've done any better last night. The fault lies on the oline's ability to block and the coaches inability to adjust the game plan. Plain and simple.

There was no QB who could have done much in that situation last night. The O-line was a sieve, there were people in his face on almost every play and people coming at him from the side as well. The coaching provided no relief at all from the pressure by changing personnel, changing formations, or changing playcalls. It looked like Reid gave up.

I can't believe anyone would've wanted to send a rookie into that meat grinder. McNabb did fine under the circumstances (ie. no Westbrook, Bad Oline play). McNabb is fine, and Philly fans need to chill out and look to the other weaknesses of the team to find the solution. Since I'm not an eagle’s fan though I really hope that you guys get what you want and run him out of town.
