I have compiled a list of about 600 of these pun/play on words type jokes. I quickly skimmed my list for a few musically relevant ones. During the pandemic when schools opened back up, I started posting one each day in my classroom. It was just something to lighten the mood and generate a few smiles/laughs (or groans as the case may be) as students came into the room. I have since stopped doing it, but sort of miss it. I should bring it back.

Song Title - Cover artist (Original Artist)

I am making the Song Title a hyperlink to the cover version of the song, and the Original Artist is a hyperlink to the original song.

@krista4 I do have a question about how lists will be revealed. I know you said to submit the top choice at the top of the list. Is the plan to reveal starting from the bottom of the lists? So, if a song near the top of my list happens to be a popular choice, it is very likely that it will have been "revealed" several times before we ever get to that position on my list. Is this correct?

I’m not trying to be difficult but this is a “covers” ranking (the originals shouldn’t really matter). Personally I’m not going to go back and link the original songs as well - and if the playlists contain both versions on same playlist, that’s way more listening time than I’d want to devote - it can already be unwieldy at times.

This is just my opinion - take it for what it’s worth (not much).

I'm not either, and I won't listen to an original playlist. Not everyone listens to the playlist, but those that do know that it is time consuming, so I'll just listen to the covers. If someone wants to post the original version of their cover in here and I haven't heard it before, I will probably listen to it.

For submissions, please use this format: Song title - Song cover artist (original artist)

I'm assuming the above will show when k4 post the list for the day, but I could be wrong.

Thanks. I had updated the first post to indicate this format as well. Lists that don't include the original artist (or reference to "traditional" or "unknown" or the like) will be bounced back. I only have a few lists in, but everyone's been great with the formatting.

I'd be surprised that originals we select are unknown - unless you're drawing from the Roman Empire's Top 40 or something like that.
