I was pretty big into all 3. Just remember loving this movie as a kid, felt like they at least put some effort into it

Maybe people are allergic to Costner? He was real good in this, and played a character with restraint for probably the only time in his career.

He's kind of a doosh.....but yea, he's done some good acting.
My wife got to see his band play in Reno years ago. He surrounded himself with good musicians, his movie clips playing in the background, strummed a few chords on the geetar.....haha

I did watch this (and Troll) back when I had the Netflix DVD subscription because there was a lot of "you have to see this to believe it" chatter about it. It is even more ridiculous than the description.

But yes it’s the Oh My God movie.

When I saw it, I was with a group of guys and we saw it in a theater at North Park Mall in Dallas which we were ALL led to believe was a target of a Russian nuke should WWIII break out. Russia was a REAL threat in our minds; Red Dawn, The Day After....the fear of communism and an attack was used to sell a TON of tickets and popcorn.
Anyhow, when this movie ended, we were all going USA USA and fighting each other on the walk home. The movie is cheese but it'll always have a place on my lists of favorite memories. It made us all feel good for a couple hours.

I actually really like that one a lot....AC/DC soundtrack.....Who made who???? A frickin pop machine shoots out sodas at people.....pretty badass.
In fact, i'd wager that this one is on this countdown

Loved it. I usually don't care for "sports movies" but this was basically North Dallas Forty at the high school level -- both did a great job of showing how effed up the system/culture was at their respective levels. And it doubled as a "high school movie" almost on par with Fast Times. As I mentioned in the other thread, I was not allergic to Cruise here because he had not become TOM CRUISE yet.

Yea, the cold war in the 80's......that movie you mentioned with the color in it really got me and my buddies fired up.....I'm sure we will see that one later, and I'm betting pretty high up

Watching Salvucci's fumble at the goal line to lose the game to Walnut Heights, while trying to run out the clock, still haunts me to this day.

Sidebar - what was the slapstick movie which had a scene of blowing up the Lethal Weapon trailer on the beach and Bruce Willis appears from it? I think I am remembering this right.

How bad it was? This is the 80s we are talking about. This is an absolute must see of Cold War Russia and the American underdog role of perseverance. Everytime I watch this movie I get motivated to do something. Not that I do anything, but I'm motivated for a couple minutes.
I have this #19 on my list. First real miss by the 100 crew

Im not sure I have seen this. Though I watch the TV (on youtube) Muppet Family Christmas every year at Christmas. Which BTW is the best muppet piece evah!

This was really a combined pick with the other 80s muppets movie, Muppets Take Manhattan. This is entirely a product of me growing up in the 80s. I thought Animal was the epitome of comedy when I was a kid.
Also, looking back as an adult, it has a very underrated performance by Charles Grodin.

I don't think I have seen any of the movies, but the TV show was insanely creative, funny, original TV, and should be on constant rotation on TNT or something for college stoners to watch. Works for adults very well, kids miss a lot of the funny nuance of the show.

Creepy yes......aged well? No. I like it....but I never voluntarily put it on....ever.
But yes....it still has a great creep factor until the final act where it sputters all over itself IMO. As far as Stephen King adaptions in the 80’s it ranks pretty low for me.
Christine on the other hand......oh yeah. Love this movie. To this day it is great. Great music (Carpenter of course) great characters, and solid believable performances by everyone including Christine herself!!
Fright Night was a romp. I loved that movie and I love watching it at least once a year. Such great characters, and Roddy McDowel steals the entire movie. Peter Vincent...The Great Vampire Killer!!!

@Ilov80s - I've been thinking about your comments about Carpenter, and honestly I mostly agree. I just have movies like The Thing that I love, but the rest are spotty. For me one reason is who he works with - it's not like actors such as Kurt Russel are faves, and works with a few like that a ton. But more importantly, it seems more than most directors, Carpenter is there for the paycheck and a job. He doesn't seem to come off as though he gives two craps about the "art" of it, or particularly attached to his work and I think his movies reflect that a bit. He stays in his lane about as much as a director can do, and if you don't really like that lane I could see not many movies sticking for people.
I think only Halloween, The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, and maybe one that could show up here I would bother sticking my neck out for. The others have varying degrees of goodness for me, but nothing I would rate much higher than a 6 or 7/10.

I have 2 Carpenter films still on my list. One is a longshot to make the main list at this point unless shuke and/or dan have it ranked super high, but it's a bit of a dark horse. The other is one where if it's only on my list I'll lose all respect for this exercise. It was on my snub list from the main 101.

Speaking of that snub list @KarmaPolice, no movies that have been named so far were on it. This countdown is really going to be top heavy.
