The Next 100 best movies from the 80's (1 Viewer)

Body Double is an 80’s guilty pleasure and is a lot of fun.

I wouldn't call this anything close to a "guilty pleasure". it's a great film.

this ^

... and am i really gonna be the first to mention the sizzling Holly Body? (Griffith)

smoke, i tell ya ... smoke
A mystery to me is that when Deborah Shelton finally takes off her sunglasses, she is breathtakingly beautiful. :tebow:

And yet many people still mention Melanie "Bimbo" Griffith instead.

I don't know if this is considered a "cult classic" but I never see/hear it mentioned. Another one with heavy rotation watching with friends at the time. It also planted some seeds of anxiety in me when I transferred from Catholic school to public school in 9th grade.
I'm going to have to rent this now. It was also mentioned on the Pure Cinema Podcast in one of their themed shows. I hadn't heard of it, and now it's come up again.

Highly recommend.

I haven't seen this since the mid-80's. I remember it being on HBO all the time. I have no idea if it holds up at all.
That's been on my watchlist for awhile just because I like the old gangster films and thought a spoof might be interesting. My expectations were pretty low but this has gotten my attention. I will check that out this week.

I have multiple Keaton 80's movies in front of this one. Multiple.

Come to think of it, there is a scandalous lack of Keaton on both these lists.
I can think of a couple for sure. I'd still have this one somewhere on the list.

Roman Moroni was awesome. Knock down that wall, that wall and that fargin wall.

This was a huge favorite of mine as a kid but I couldn't find room for it on my list.

Now this is what I'm talking about. A true classic. Surprised it doesn't get more run on cable.

Easily makes my top 50. I probably have watched it 20 times.

This is one I remember watching all the time and have fond memories of, but feel the effects look really dated now

so many good scenes and quotes in this one. It’s definitely shticky but one of my favorites

love the prison scene
Post Meridian. Ante Meridian. Uncle Meridian. All the little Meridians.

Joe Piscopo’s Danny Vermin is so perfect

Peter Boyle is great too “im standing here with my dork in my hand!” and of course the guy playing Maroni

I probably shouldn't have allowed this since I can't find a trailer. But, Maureen McCormick is top 10 all time.

On this site it's ranked the 27574 movie and 4 people have it in their top 20! So there's that

Edit to add: I expected a couple Christmas movies on the list. Still waiting.

I warned you there was a made for TV movie on my list.

I can only justify this as why it’s great to me. Huge Brady Bunch fan as a kid and this movie was an annual watch in my household. I would not be holding true to my ranking criteria if I omitted this.

And Jennifer Runyon, the only replacement cast member they needed, was hot as hell in this.

Don’t take any guff for your list, Scoresman.

Pretty sure I have your two expected ones left in my top 10.

I realize it was a pop culture sensation, but I don't have any personal ties to this.

One of my wife’s favorite movies, but I’ve always enjoyed musicals / movies with great soundtracks so would have ranked high regardless

Can’t remember if it was a tweet but it was something like “I always thought the dad was a big jerk until I realized he just wanted a nice family vacation and his daughters kept screwing it up”

I have never seen this. I will say I thought The Brady Bunch Movie was really funny, but that's the wrong decade.

Technically Diehard is a Christmas movie.....kind of.

I'm sure I'm thinking of the same couple Christmas movies......my family always watches one of em every Christmas, and sometimes twice......in fact, my wife and I had a years long tradition when my kids were little where would watch one of these movies while wrapping our kids presents.....now my daughter wraps all the presents except her own....she loves it! Soooooo awesome as I absolutely HATE wrapping presents!

The other movie we typically watch as well.

Home Alone is the other one that gets a lot of play time at my house.

Imagine movies you would watch annually, maybe at Christmas, with your family. Wouldn't that mean something to you? Thats what this is and it fits the criteria I posted. And yes, I still enjoy watching it.

Also keep in mid this the next 100. Not #10 on my overall 80s list.

I mean his 17 year old daughter is having an abortion and hooking with some guy who is at least 25 years old. I absolutely get why he's unhappy.

The only thing I remember about this chick flick is my aunts looooooved it.......they really loved Swayze......I had long hair and listened to Megadeth......and my aunts liked it. Not exactly high on my list
Lol….hilarious post.

I have a soft spot for this one. I spent several summers up in the catskills with my grandparents. Great times meeting up at the hotels with guys and gals and getting into all kinds of trouble….and drinking for the first time…like really drinking. Lots of girls….wild nights….but still innocence around.

Hard to explain.

So the whole summers in the catskills vibe….I lived that…even though it was in 1983 and 1984.

I was too old/cool for this when it came out. And I'm not sure we ever watched this one with the kids, so it's possible I've never seen it.
I was also getting too old for these when it came out. This is not one I admitted to liking amongst friends.

Most Disney princesses had some noble cause like saving their kingdom or their family. Ariel just wanted some human ****.
