ESPN just said the Rays have won 9 out of 13 against the Sox.I did not know that.
Rays got the Sox number this year :yes:Not quite as bad as they had the Yankees Number last year.... but they're doing well vs the 'beasts of the east"
 I don't think this is accurate...Sox vs D'Rays this year:Apr 18-20: 2-1Apr 28-30: 1-2May 25-28: 4-0July 3-6: 1-3Aug 4-6: 1-2Total: 9-8
Yea I was just looking at that. They must've meant at the Trop. They suck in Boston.
The Rays are a damn good young team at bat and in the field...And Kazmir is obvioulsy a stud...But they need to get some consistent starting pitching 2-5...Oh, and they need to keep their prospects on the field and out of prison...

Great..... another PoS reliever (like the jagoff on the Indians) is going to hand the Sox a game in the 9th!
Not so fast.... :no:that ball did look outside however. Piss poor job protecting the plate by manny though.youk hitting liike .500 with 2outs and RISP

WHEW!Glad they could close that one... Mo uncharacteristically blew one tonight. :(

Herman with PH Triple to open things up... looks like another blown save. Looks like Verlander is a lock for ROY :bye: \

KC Broadcasts are a riot. Not only are their announcers massive homers arguing just about every call from the umps (I can count at least 15 examples from tonight)... but their gun is absolutely cranked.... unless, of course, you believe josh beckett can throw 107mph

Big K by Papelbon there...

Top of the order up now. Infield in but unfortunately if they throw it home it's unlikely that he will be able to catch it.

And there it is... sac fly to left. Papelbon blows another one.

Papelblown

Now that the game is going into extra innings, the Royals find they've taken their SS out of the game :)

Put that in your collective pipes and smoke it!

2 for 2 against the big vaunted, cocky New Englanders (Players and fans) .....hey we will take your money and beat you ### while we are at it....at least the 10K or so BoSox fans that were there tonight.

Royals are hovering around .500 since Dayton Moore took over.

Isn't it 2 for 5?

Nice swing for the Yanks, hangin on by the hair of their chinny chin chin against the world champs who beat them late last night and seeing the sox go down in flames against the royals

:lmao: @ the royals fans coming out of the woodwork to talk smack. Congrats on breaking the .350 mark

Awful lot of yanks fans piling on in here.... quite amusing (yet a little sad at the same time). You guys might wanna get your own thread

Sox going through a tough patch here... too many pitchers and key guys down right now. Looking like it's gonna take some serious work for this to be a Playoff squad.

Why would we need 2 threads about the AL East race?

Amazing Papelbon stats:

In the past two nights he has doubled the # of earned runs he has given up this season (from 3 to 6)...

Last night was the first game this year in which he allowed more than one earned run...

For just the second time all year he gave up an earned run that wasn't on a homer...

Remarkable season...Especially from a rookie...

Losing sucks...

I have to predict that the Red Sox miss the playoffs at this point. I think 94 wins should be good for playoff berth, and I think this team wins 91-93

Are they allowed to talk after the sweep, or after the fact that every game, with the exception of 1, that KC has played Boston this year has been a 1 run game? Come down off the high horse, son.

I am not going to comment on Boston being humiliated by KC. I believe in karma...so therefore I will not comment on that disgraceful sweep.

Good Call... how did the Yankees do against KC last year, anyways? :) :bye: to Red Sox playoff chances if this team doesn't get it's #### together... just not firing on all cylinders right now.... need some key guys back but also the team needs a spark. Playing very flat right now.

Hats off to the Royals this weekend.. they definitely wanted it more than Boston did.

it amuses me that so many yankee fans hate on this thread. insecurity down?
Why do people keep saying "SO Many Yankee fans"... What's there like 3 Yankee fans on this board that make comments..... 4? :lmao: For the most part I stay out of it but, came here and commented on that ridiculous Jeter Avatar... As much as people keep saying 'So Many Yankee fans" this or that, I can't see anything as ridiculous as that avatar... Why would I even think of doing something like that to a Red Sox player? And yeah, this thread kinda does become the AL East race thread - That should be taken as a compliment.Anyway - Some of you are easily Amused if you get that giggly over Yankee fans visiting a Sox thread. SHOCKING  :banned:

do we need to play who is a Yankee fan?

Saw the interview with Papelbon on Fox pregame and I'm pretty impressed. Kid has a good head on his shoulders, a good attitude, to go along with a great arm. Should be a great closer for a long time.

In the past two weeks, WMP has hit homers of 436 feet, 447, 448 and 463, plus a 404 footer that nearly killed a fan in the front row of the Monster seats.

prediction: sox take 2-3 from detroit. take 3-5 from yankeesyankees split with the oriole'ssox back in front.
I hope so.How many of you sox fans would take a guaranteed 5-4 over the next nine instead of playing them out if you could? I would.
