The OFFICIAL 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread (1 Viewer)

As a Sox fan, I am growing tired of this pathetic excuse of an offense. The hits are their but they are not coming with RISPs and at the right times. Hopefully it will perk up soon.

Bottom 7TH B:0 S:0 O:2Mark Loretta lines into a force out, right fielder Russell Branyan to shortstop Tomas Perez. Wily Mo Pena scores. Kevin Youkilis out at 2nd. Mark Loretta to 1st. Bottom 7TH B:3 S:1 O:2David Ortiz doubles (5) on a fly ball to left fielder Carl Crawford. Mark Loretta to 3rd.

:excited: Papelbon up in the pen.... if they don't sit him down with this big of a lead I gotta say: GAME OVAH

If Papi or Manny jacks one then we need to try to let Timlin stumble through the 9th though...

Hey Icon, is "The Animal" really his nickname, or is that just what you call him? I just haven't heard it anywhere else...

Forgot where I picked it up but I didn't make it up  Not sure if it was SOSH or RSN.net

You look at me (you look at me)

Raise your hand if you're a sinner

You look at me

Don't corner me

Understand I'm a sinner..

Bring in the Animal.... :pickle:

I prefer anything referencing pap smears.

KK

Nice hit by Crawford.. that guy's got mad skills

Nice at bat by Cantu... did he by any chance take a shell's worth of buckshot in the face at a young age?

Gomes Career 0-3 vs Papelbon with 2K

Paps walks him....

Definitely not his best stuff today... lot of pitches this inning. Hopefully he can settle in and get this last out.

Come on kid.. :banned:

HOLY ####. ADAM STERN IS THE MAN

No joke... papelbon will get a game or two off for sure. Still has a 0.00 ERA but the WHIP bumps up a bit from 0.28 or whatever it was.

 It was ugly.. but it was a save (7).

TB will not make this series easy...hats off to em... at least there wasn't a brawl.

Ouch...

With boston already up 6-0, an easy roller up first should have ended the inning. Lee tossed to Childers to get the out at first... only Childers completely misses the soft underhanded toss.

7-0 Boston - Bottom 3rd

Schilling pitching a Gem as well (3K in 3IP thus far)

EDIT: Wild Pitch by Childers now.... Stern over to 2nd.

EDIT AGAIN: And he walks AGonz to bring Youk to the plate (who is on fire)

I'm kinda feeling bad for the Rays at this point

Schilling pitched a great game. I think that we have a great bullpen with the exception of wells. But I think it is a little over crowded. Stern is a great replacement for the injured Crisp. I can't wait to see the Sox-Yankees series in may. I hope that Papelbon keeps up the good work although the loading of the bases on tuesday was a little unnerving. GO SOX'S

• Agreed Schilling pitched a helluva game. We'll see how he does against the Indians' offense though• As wilked said, Wells is a starter who's on the DL

• The bullpen is overcrowded?

• Stern was actually just sent down to AAA to get some consistent at bats as he was only hitting .1something. Great defensively but he's never had a 500AB season and last year's shoulder injury really hindered his develepment. Now that his Rule 5 status is up he needed to go back down so he can get regular at bats. I personally think he'll be moved elsewhere within the next year or so. Mohr is a better option as he's comparable defensively but much farther along offensively.

• Agreed, the Yankees series will be a great watch.

• Papelbon is going to have bad outings. He's stil one of the best in the league right now. Every pitcher has off days... we'll see how he bounces back

This is the best I've seen Schilling look.
He claims he feels better than ever, though he kept insisting he was fine last year. I honestly do believe he's finally over the ankle injury though. 4-0 for the first time in his career? Sub 2.00 ERA? IF he and Beckett can keep this up all season long (doubtful) we're looking at a 1-2 punch comparable to the old days of Schilling/RJ. Factor in the rest of our staff, and an offense that's just now waking up and you've got a recipe for a deep playoff run.
