The Official Kicker (K) Thread (2 Viewers)

Tired of playing the game. If you could have one K for the remainder of the season, who?
That's kind of what I was hoping to do with Nick Folk, but now I'm thinking of dropping him after only 3 days b/c of weather lol.  Oh well, here's hoping someone drops one of the 3 extra kickers on rosters after the byes.

Prater - gone

Gonzalez - long gone

Only options are Elliott, Carlson, Boswell, McLaughlin....Slye is the highest scorer available, then Bailey (on bye)....and on to the dregs.  Thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye on the weather and maybe change to McLaughlin - but did you see that FG he missed???  Yikes, I don't think I've ever seen a kick that bad.
Boswell isn't a bad option.  It's supposed to rain in Cincinnati on Saturday but not Sunday. The Bengals have given up the 2nd most points to opposing kickers this season.  I could see a situation where the Steelers offense starts off with good field position and they can move the ball enough to get it into field goal range but have difficulty getting touchdowns because of missing so many players on offense.

Slye plays in a dome which is always nice.  He started the year hot but he hasn't had more than 1 field goal in any of the Panthers last 4 games.  The Panthers' offense has been sputtering.  And the Saints aren't a good matchup.

I think the people starting Prater are in bad shape.

Im playing against Prater, and to be honest. If I was playing against anyone, give me anyone kicking in this rain this weekend.

Here comes a 15 pt game now. lol

Will not be raining in Washington. 50 degrees, sunny, but a tad windy at 14 mph.

If DET could move the ball against DAL I'd think Driskel will move it against WASH.

I'm thinking Prater has a good chance of putting up points this week. Other options I'm considering, but have lower (and are still available):

* D. Carlson @NYJ -- Rain forecasted with a little wind. Also have a sneaky feeling that OAK lays an egg travelling east and the Jets get an upset here.

* J. Elliott vs SEA & J. Meyers @PHI -- 13 mph winds. Biggest fear here is that this is a game where the offenses have to score TDs.

* S. Hauschka vs DEN -- Low over/under. VERY windy. Pass.

Matt Gay missed 3 extra points (one was blocked) in a dome.  He missed 2 extra points in Week 3.  So he has missed 5 extra points and missed only 3 field goals this season including hitting 4 of 5 from 50+ yards.  He kicks in Jacksonville this Sunday and the forecast calls for a 40% of showers and 20 mph winds.  It's 5 days away so the forecast could easily change.  But if the forecast doesn't change by Wednesday night when waivers run, it'll be tough to stick with Gay or Lambo.

Mason Crosby and Aldrick Rosas could be affected by weather this week, too.  East Rutherford has an 80% chance of snow/rain.  The forecast says rain and snow in the morning turning into rain in the afternoon.  Kickoff is at noon.  High of 42, low of 33.

One league I have Gay has -3 for missed extra points,  He was a -4 for me this week.  Going with Ficken

I had been looking at Prater as a longer term holding a couple of weeks ago before he got picked up - I would have been really worried about this game.

Thanks for the weather tips, one of those saved me last week.  I had been looking at Mason for this week, but I guess I'll wait until later in the week to make a decision.  Definitely not playing McLaughlin at Balt.

I started a thread for bad Week 13 weather, but I'll post it here, too.

Sunday is 5 days away so the weather forecast could change.  All 3 games on Thanksgiving are in domes.  Here are the games that might have some bad weather:

Raiders at Chiefs game has 20-30 mph winds.

Buccaneers at Jaguars game has an 80% chance of thunderstorms.  Winds 15-25 mph.

Packers at Giants has a 90% chance of rain and snow in the morning turning to rain in the afternoon.  10-15 mph winds.

Jets at Bengals has a 40% chance of showers but it might arrive after the game.  10 to 20 mph winds.

Redskins at Panthers has a 90% of rain in the morning.  Rain might be done before kickoff.  Winds 10-20 mph.

Browns at Steelers has a 90% chance of rain in the morning changing to showers in the afternoon.  Winds 5-10 mph.

49ers at Ravens has a 90% chance of rain.  Winds 10-15 mph.

Vikings at Seahawks has a 40% chance of showers.  Winds 5 mph.

Chargers at Broncos has a forecast of nice weather.

Eagles at Dolphins has a forecast of nice weather.

Rams at Cardinals Dome

Bears at Lions Dome

Bills at Cowboys Dome

Saints at Falcons Dome

Titans at Colts Dome

Patriots at Texans Dome

The Koo has been righteous for the last 3 weeks. 15, 11 and 11 in my league.

Though through some simple research it appears Gonzo has only 2 games of less than 9 points all season.

Thats the exact thing you want in a Kicker and he has the next 3 in a dome against LAR, PIT and CLE with a team that is fast pace and moves the ball well but gets shut down in the RZ a lot.

He should be 100% started, not owned, but started as with Koo.

What to do? I'll take it to gtd on TNF.

Going with Zane for the next 2 weeks for sure.  My playoffs are weeks 15 & 16 only, and will use him in week 15 if I make it.  If I somehow make it to the finals in week 16, I will have to decide if I want a dome/nice weather kicker.

Any updates thoughts on SF Gould?  I have Koo but don't play a meaningful game until week 15.  Part of me says avoid in case he reinjures during a game but SF is good team for kickers.

I've seen how easily Jutstin Tucker's day can fade. Still gotta roll him out there against even a non-premo match with SF. Too much offense there in B'More.

This is my kicker going forward in 2/3 leagues. He's number 5 on the year within 10 of butker(number one).

Snagged Gonzalez dropping Gay. Tied with Lutz for 3rd in K scoring in my league, and just a few points north of Gay, but with Gay missing those XPs, need to go with a hotter hand.

I am not sure his matchup this weekend is so juicy, though.

Tucker might actually be better this week...stiffer defense, fewer XPs and maybe more long FG attempts.  I do not expect SF to completely shut down Lamar, because nobody really has.  But if they bend while breaking less than previous opponents, the kicker stands to benefit.

Dropped Slye for Lambo but weather concerns and general uneasiness of their offense has me getting cold feet here.

Anyone have any insight on Fairbairn? The NE matchup indoors doesn't scare me as much as it should.

He was the #1 K in all my leagues last year,so he has it in him.

Ok yeah I remember good things in 2018 but fast forward to now...
Hey, you asked for any insight. Thats all I got for you. He is a dome kicker on a decent offense who missed a few this year. He has it in him, so he is capable if you like him. If you need one, you can do worse.

That's exactly why I kept him. My only concern is their analytics guy and the fourth-and-shorts in FG range. That'll worry one.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but Vinatieri and Matt Bryant were also pretty good in 2018. My recollection this year is that Fairbairn has been a bit shaky. Wondering if owners had a little more info.

Faribairn has been very shaky from what I can remember, but I'm not looking it up, either.

I clinched a bye so just need a kicker week 15 & and hopefully 16.

Gay missing 3 XPs makes me wonder if he’s got the yips. Thinking of dropping for Badgley or Younghoe?

McLaughlin / Gould. SFO
With most of the top kickers gone I'm actually targeting Gould as a set it and forget it option.

Gould has finally been cleared for practice so should take over as soon as this week. SF defense is going to keep putting this offense into favorable positions.

Schedule during the playoffs: @NO (indoors), ATL (mediocre D), LAR (decent D).

SF weather should be a lot better than east coast weather kickers too.

Patriots signed K Kai Forbath.

32-year-old Forbath hasn't kicked in a regular season game since he was with the Jaguars in '18. He was also the Vikings' full-time kicker two seasons ago. Nick Folk (appendectomy) isn't expected to miss more than one game, so Forbath will likely be a one-week fill in for Sunday night against the Texans.

All these kickers are horrible. In the past 30 years athletes have made huge advances in size strength speed and agility while kicking has gone backwards

Gould has one of the worst full-time kicker FG % (65%) and has missed a few XP's also.  I had him & dropped him.  Played McLauglin for his few games but dropped as Gould is coming back.

Oh, I'm putting way too much thought into this. I have Tucker. What more is there other than Harbaugh's cutting edge analytics for fourth-ands mixed with his propensity to go for two?

Argh.

I think I go with a guy like Money Badger. Surely, no incompetent or fraudulent fool could ever market himself as pure money, all the time, without check or spec?

Could he?

Just when I was zeroed in to pick up Badgley, someone dropped Zuerlein.  Now what?  Can someone advise?

Who's the better bet ROS???
As a former Z owner, couldnt be happier to be without him. Cut him a few weeks ago and his stretch here has sucked at games of 4, 5 and 7 since. I cut him going into the bye and picked up Koo.Did get a savior last night with that late koo score but they all count and lately, Z isnt having many count.

I don't understand why anyone would ever play a kicker who was on a team projected to be an underdog.

Pick a favorite. Hopefully indoors. Done.
When I play a kicker I hope for 8 points. Doesnt matter projection, doesnt matter team. Koo can make kicks, why his 2 missed ones last night were anger-some. He ended up with 8 points in my league so I am fine with that, but looking at your point. He scored a 15 points on the road against he same team 2 weeks ago, so the results make your point baseless. Especially since he also got 8 points today. It could have gone way worse, I agree....but this is a down game and still did well. Did better then Z in any of his last 3 weeks.
