Not bad. The only guys that I may have "reached" for compared to league 1 were Muhsin Muhammad and Kevin Johnson. Biggest steals include Duce Staley, Javon Walker, Boo Williams, Marcus Pollard, Justin Gage, and Rashaun Woods.

I'm a little slow this morning, but am I to believe in your highlight that you're in league 2 BFred and that the VBD you suggest is your team?If so, good value.

That's my team. As I was putting the list together I noticed several things about my team and just in general. As for my team, I have 7 players that I drafted before they were taken in League 1's draft, and 8 players that I drafted after being taken in League 1 (value). Not TOO bad. The real surprising thing, is the number of reaches I have - 4 players that were not even drafted in the other league (more than anyone else). Hehe, we'll see if I am some sort of sage or some kind of looney tune. :D My biggest reaches of players/teams that were drafted in both leagues: Darrell Jackson at 5.01 (was not taken until 6.05 in League 1) and the Carolina Panthers at 11.01 (was not taken until 12.08).

My biggest values of players/teams that were drafted in both leagues: Warrick Dunn at 4.12 (was taken at 4.01 in League 1), LaMont Jordan at 14.12 (was taken at 14.01 in League 1), and Bobby Engram at 20.12 (was taken at 18.06 in League 1).

I don't think draft pick numbers are a good way to determine value as each draft can eb and flow differently accounting for runs in one league that may not occur until different times as another. But interesting enough.

Agreed.

True, but if you look at ALL of your picks and you got "value" with the majority of them, I believe you can conclude that you did well.

I beleive that is a reasonable assumption if we agree what 'value' is. It could be getting someone later than their daft spot, but it could also mean grabbing someone earlier than their draft spot to lock up rb handcuffs or wr tandems. Value to one team greatly differs from value to the next. In fact, every pick should offer some 'value' one way or another, so in reality your statement means nothing.

how does the QB squeeze look now?Grouse is down to 1 starting QB in Marc Bulger.
too early to tell.but I do enjoy the 'I told you so' guys that start climbing out already.

The effect remains the same...it hurt a couple of MB teams, but strengthened the top tier MB Teams. I personally ranked Grouse's squad #9 and sited QB Risk as one of his weaknesses. The Staff needs to worry about the top teams...not the bottom ones.Fro, Joe T, Fred etc.

I didn't get 'squeezed' as you suggest.Screwed by my own strategy, perhaps. But I think it is both unnecessary grandstanding and an erroneous correlation between Quincy Carter's cocaine test/release, and my not having a starting backup QB and subsequently claiming this predicament is a result of the Staff's QB Squeeze Play.Again....By the time Round 7 rolled around, I was the only team with only 1 QB on my roster. Guys like Carr, Maddox, Rattay & Grossman were still on the board for my 7th round pick. Again, I was the only team with only 1 QB on my roster at that point in the draft with quality backups in Carr, Maddox, Rattay & Grossman still on the board. I chose to draft Chambers and wait for Carter who had top-15 numbers last year and I thought was extremely likely to retain his job and represent good value as a backup. This was my choice. I didn't get squeezed. I could've had Bulger and Carr as my QB's IF that was what I'd wanted. I gambled on Carter, and it may cost me the competition. But cocaine? C'mon? The job was his. Maybe Henson has looked good. But, the job was Carter's for this year. Cocaine? FFFAAAAAK!

Cocaine? FFFAAAAAK!
I'd put cocaine in the same category as a freak injury. That kind of stuff happens. It's one reason carrying only two QBs instead of three is a gamble. Not that gambles are always bad.

the point is that if we didn't hit QBs as hard as we did, you may have still had a better selection of QBs in round 8. yes, you could have grabbed one in 7 and likely been in better shape right now. But, you took a risk, which ended up hurting your team in the end.the point of the squeeze, IMO, is that it leaves little margin for error in sitautions like yours. It was very tempting to pass on a "marginal" backup QB at 7.03 for a WR like Chambers...but, in doing so, you left yourself little wiggle room as there were few QBs left when the draft got back to you at 8.10. If you pick the wrong QB2 and/or QB3, your team is in trouble.Meanwhile, the staff's plan of each grabbing 3 QBs that were unlikely to be benched or cut put us in a position where we didn't have to worry about losing 1 of our QBs unexpectedly during the preseason as we'd still have 2 others ready to go.Honestly not trying to rub it in here. Just trying to talk strategy, and I know a lot of people questioned the effectiveness and the soundness of the staff strategy. Personally, I think how well it worked is becoming more and more obvious as things like this continue to occur.

:no:Why are you putting words in my mouth? Tempting?I wanted Quincy Carter to be my backup QB. :wall: I never planned on drafting more than 2 QB's. Kerry Collins was an accidental indulgence in round 12.Bad strategy? Maybe so. But the Staff's run on QB's had nothing to do with my strategy nor its' net result. Had I felt squeezed by the Staff as you suggest, I would have deviated from my strategy and taken a backup QB earlier than I'd planned in round 7 rather than draft Chambers after seeing so many QB's run off the board. Not the other way around. My margin for error may have been slimmer than others, but that was of my choosing, not the result of any Staff strategy.Stop pimpin' my bad strategy as a notch on your belt when it doesn't belong there. :boxing:

Looks like Rebel34, Aaron Rudnicki, and Chris Smith so far have been the lucky ones. I struggled to find even ONE thing wrong with their teams so far this preseason.

Looking over the rosters again, I want to upgrade 2 teams.1. David Yudkin: Dave, Why did you have to take Vick? You have a different QB there like a McNair or Trent Green and I'd put you there as one of the top 2. I like the value he has in almost every round. Tiki Barber won't be affected by Dayne as most think.2. Twilight: I don't like going Stud Wr because it forces your next Rb selections to be right on or you'll struggle at RB all season. However, Twilight did a very good job in getting Thomas Jones who appears ready for a breakout season and he's got Lee Suggs who also appears solid. Good for you Twilight. He's got as good as chance as anyone heading into this season.

Half and half MB/Staff at the merger.I take a few things from this so far:1) team QB squeeze play by the staff was not successful2) rebel is a perfect example of why you have to follow your own calls and use "expert" opinions as advice, not as gospel - your draft on paper on August 31 is no reflection of what your draft will look like in reality on Dec. 1.3) Aaron and B-Fred have established, over and over in multiple drafts, that they are two of the best survivor drafters in the FBGuys.com world - staff, MB, or otherwise.
