The thread running posting all the worst trade offers made to them led me to post some thoughts about perception and how often those "bad trades" actually end up being so bad, largely due to how much we hype up players sometimes,
like when we thought Finley was the 2nd coming or dismissed Russell Wilson because of his height.
So, as an exercise in teaching us to observe a little harder, dig a little deeper, and think twice, I am asking people to humble up and recall a couple of trades they didn't accept because they thought they were bad, tell us what they were thinking, and we can all see how it ended up.
The one that comes to mind for me quickest is in 2005, I had an aging Moe Williams and an owner approached me wanting him to put with his other Vikes backs or something like that. Not a big trade at all but Moe had shown signs of being an occasional flex play here and there.
He said I could have my pick of either Musa Smith, a young Rb who had played well in the pre-season or this Tony Romo guy.
Of course, I totally glossed over the undrafted QB sitting behind a HOF'er and opted for the young RB out of Georgia. I remember thinking at the time "this Musa Smith guy might be the next Terrell Davis". Georgia Rbs had a way of popping up and doing well there for a little while.
Anyway, I still play against Tony Romo twice a year
